Back when creativity talent heart and soul were something people were interested in.
The Mexican..... such an underrated peice of music genius! Everybody give the lead singer props because she is cute, okay, how about these musicians are f@#&ing amazing!!!!
She can sing too.
I was at this show. Place-des-Nations in Montreal. I was 15. We'd let the girls distract the bus driver in Lachine and sneak in the back windows of the bus so we could get there free. Same to go home. There were conerts there for years, glad I saw most of them. Supertramp, Heart, Mahogany Rush, Offenbach Eddie Money. PEACE \/
@Andy W wow, a reference to Offenbach (taber)...yes, Frank Marino, Aldo Nova, and the tribute bands like Blushing Brides and Clearlight too
wow. I was hanging out in Montreal in 1973 when I first heard The Mexican at a disco called Sur La Place in La Vieux Montreal. So sorry I missed seeing them live! It was my favorite song at the time. Montreal was like a never ending Renaissance Fair in the 70's. Hash from Afghanistan and mescaline.
Great story, I'm in Montreal right now, wish there was a good show like this to go check out..... actually I'm sure there is, I just don't know about it yet.
CHOM FM really promoted great bands like BABE Ruth, wouldn't have heard them otherwise. Even though I am in Calgary I still listen to CHOM everyday on the INET
Montréal ❤
The Mexican 21:54 was simply amazing!! One of the best B-boy songs in the 90's early 00's....

Hell yeah that’s exactly the song I was looking for I remember it from the battle between the Renegades and Style Elements
So much energy: even her hair is a performance. Love it!
I watched another video where her belly button stole the show, at least to the camera man..
I had a friend about eight years older than me when I was in high school. His name was rockin Ron. He had a couple thousand albums. Babe Ruth was prominent among his collection. So I heard them the first time in about 1972. He had turned me, and another friend, Kelly Smith, onto this new band with a great female vocalist. I fell in love with their music immediately. Almost 50 years later,.It is so cool to find a live concert of theirs online. Whoever did that thank you so very much. Aren’t they amazing!
Amazing just about covers it 👍
"Well said".
Most underrated band in the world. every member is a musical genius!
CHURCH ♥️♥️
i've heard that about every band.
😅
@@mnpd3 LOL "Well said" Fantastic Band, yes BUT ton's of band's & Artist's as good. Hot Tuna, Martha & Muffin's, NRPS, SAHB, Edgar Broughton Band, Talking Head's to name 6 worth listening too...... I guess if I tried & thought it worth while, a Hundred would be easy to list. ALL as good as Babe Ruth and long time listen's. Pretty Thing's, The Downliner's Sect, Bird's (Spelt correctly) Byrds .....
@@mnpd3 So true, it's weird how they got success in America and Canada rather than native England though.
Alan Shacklock incredible guitarist
Not only was Janita Haan an incredibly awesome singer, look at her stage presence too. Amazing!
Fueled by large amounts of cocaine.
Lots of Grace Slick influence too. And yes, she is so stoned in this concert.
@@zzzxxyy Kind'a more like Janis Joplin! Especially her voice!
@THE LONDON LOU EXPERIENCE because you cant be creative without drugs.
@@zzzxxyy More like Janis.
Spotify randomly picked Wells Fargo for me last week. I am now converted to the church of Babe Ruth.
I work as a call handler for Vodafone uk and I had the pleasure of speaking to Jenny over the phone. Lovely woman
Janita Haan was the ultimate rock star. Babe Ruth were a world class act who should have been massive. Saw them back in the 70’s many times and they always went down a storm wherever they played. Great to see this concert, always wanted to see the third album performed on stage. Magic !!! Janita quit soon after this and formed Lion, shame they never released any albums.
Saw them in 2010 (original line up) and they were absolutely amazing, all of them!
Wow!!! Just a big fat WOW!!!! Damn great performance.
Beautiful woman , great voice especially in the 4th track: Dancer
Years ago can't remember exact year babe ruth came to Thurso in the far north of Scotland to play at our local gala week! I was 11 a beautiful summer night. It was outside between our river Thurso and the boating pond. Wells fargo track I remember bass line in particular. Left an impression on me. Took 30 yrs to get copy of 1st Base! 60s 70s were magical time for freedom and music. Still in my head today 62 now with me til last breath!
@@Adi-Dassler 😳👍😎
@@Adi-Dassler Long way from home!
‘Experiences last longer than things’
One of the uk's most underated bands.I turned onto them in the 80s In 84 I moved from leeds to a small island off the w coast of scotland.Got to know the locals and to my utter sadness and distress was told that babe ruth played in the local hall a month ago !!!
I was there. I remember.
Lucky! I say them in 2010 in Ottawa. Still amazing band!
so was I. Great concert.
They don't make girls like this any more. Or music, more's the pity.
Superb upload, thank you.
Hippies? Hippies suck. Their quixotic ideals and their smell both as much.
Yes hey do stilll make girls like this and music ...check out Motion Device.
Too young, need's more experience.
who?
Try Samantha Fish or Heron Oblivion
The band that backs her up has to hit a home run on every song and they hit it out of the park on every song.
What a kick-ass performance!!!
Why so little likes? "This Is Fuckin Music."
+Mako 44 And how come there's even one dislike?
because its fuckin music nobodys ever fucking heard of, thats why........also girls in rock weren't too hip back then....
Damn, Jenny was and is so underrated...so is the whole band!!!
Jenny was damn underrated; her range and tone were unreal
I was at this show. Place-des-Nations in Montreal. My first concert and the first time on cid.It was incredible, will always remember it.
I wish i was there on cid😏🎸🎤🎹🎉. Greets from Germany.
My God, how come I never knew about this band before. So f... Amazing!
Ultimate Rock CHICK !!!! Bought the remastered album but still searching for the original one on fairs
AMAZING!!!!!!!!! They don't make music like this any more. I'm from Montreal but unfortunately too young to have witnessed this genius.
Sorry to break this to you but they played montreal in 2010. but if you love Babe check out this new band from Toronto called Motion Device. Start with there vid ''Thick Skin''.
from mtl too, fave band ever
saw them in Montreal in 2010 and in Montreal at Place Des Nations in 1974
@@davidlevasseur8484 Saw Peter Gabriel there in the early 80 s. He entered the stage through the audience/ Ha Ha.
@jean-luc paradis No relation. Get this all the time. Love Tull though saw them a5 times.
Holy cow! Never heard this version of The Mexican before! That girl's got lungs!!
Me too, I thought The Mexican was a Jelly Bean creation..
Could watch her forever. Guitarist is great songwriter.
One of the most underated bands of the early seventies saw them live jenny haan was awsome
Great band - and this is one of their best gigs.
Such a good band I started crying in happy tears
Jenny, my no. 1 favorite female rock vocal. Liked the band since the first base album.
They didn't much more, she blew her voice out and damaged her vocal chords, she never sang again after that.
Alden21 bullshit
REAL MUSIC.
There's not really much more to say
PURE ENERGY
Jenny Haan hermosa y toda la actitud rockera, gran banda solo para conocedores
Una pregunta..el guitarrista algo que ver con España (sonido)
Jenny is the reason cordless mics were invented
I still get the same feelin' at 60 about her and that insertive subject as when I first heard about it at 16.
THE REAL ROCK ❤❤❤❤
What a tight band they were! A shame they never got the credit they deserved
I was just thinking that: the definition of ‘tight’
70's prog rock, really good
Kind of funkified and folky too…
What a great voice, love this band
Alan Shacklock was an incredible guitar player.
Loved the music I was in the backstages with them cause of my work i use to work at Thursday's and they gave me a pass
Very cool to see these videos. Back in the day there was no such thing and all you had were photos from album covers.
that mexican --- 50 years hiphop would not be the same with out this song.. amazing thank you Babe Ruth and Istvan for posting this fuego classico
Loved these guys in '74, still love em today. This is the shit.
Man, this rocks. The energy that Jenny puts out. And she rocks the microphones to abuse. And those moves....Good times
She was on cocaine at this time. Sad but true😏
So were many my friend
Loud and fantastic.
Jenny was one hell of a great singer and the band were fine musicians . With the right exposure and publicity they could have been huge . The sad fact that they were,nt is one of Rock's tragedy's . Still we have their albums the debut is a all time classic .
Saw this tour in Milwaukee when I was a kid. It was fantastic.
Wow! I mean wow! What a fucking great band.
Love this band
magnificent- superb- great talent
ME ENCANTA ESTA MUJER, SU VOZ ES UNICA.
One word:“Powerwoman“!🎤🎉🎸🎧🎹🎤.
Amazing
Du bon vieux Québec ... golden ! Tout le monde est passé par mtl !
Babe Ruth "First Base" LP is in my Top 10...Think of being marooned on a desert island with only 10 LP's...Yeah!
Yes, I'd go along with that choice.....
Jenny Haan...my first crush when I was 11. I thought she was only about 15, so was within reach!
Dude you should of gone for it! No excuses.
@Jr Reyes hahahahahaha, pinche reyes. ;)
hahaha love your comment
She's got a voice to polish an oack wooden box with. Amazing.
That’s a brilliant turn-of-phrase 👍
Very Very Nice! :D thanks for the upload!!!!
Only ever really listened to the mexican! Wow what a fucking live performance this is!thanks😁
The best Band of the Seventies.
I`m in love with the singer! Adorable! A mix of Ozzy Osbourne and Janis Joplin! kkk! Crazy sexy girl!
Made me think of that mix too
é a tuga, caralho!!!
Omg I can watch her long hair over her face for a month. Beautiful
Black dog on here is absolutely legendary!! Holy Crap Jenny is in the zone here!!!!
Janita is a forgotten icon. What a stunning stage presence! When it comes to legendary women in rock in roll she's right up there with the likes of Ann Wilson, Grace Slick and Janis Joplin.
Utterly agree. Her voice control is amazing because she can sing big numbers effortlessly, commanding the stage
Women with now Word
Shacklock, OMG shred of evidence. DAMN!!!! WOW
the mexican 21:53 one of the best bboy songs!
Memories of Champlain College, free bus ride to the concert, a truly wild night which I remember like it was yesterday. Thank you Andy and thank you Sandy other than the concert you two made my night!
Saw them in the early 70's I remember all the booze we snuck in to Hara Arena and didnt get caught!! But Jenny Haan was a real cutie and I had a mad crush on her!! What a concert!! Enjoy!!

We loved the band, the groove and the sound! Not a one hit wonder, whatever they say!
Seeing the mexican live was a site to see
Saw them at Milwaukee arena I believe. Either that or Auditorium. Great show.
Fantastic original progressive rock band no one to touch them !!
Awesome, just awesome!
I've never been able to settle one whether I prefer the Jesse Winchester original of Black Dog or this amazing rendition, so both are on my playlists
Banda perfeita !!!
Definitely some Janis in there, a touch of Grace and Slick.
Better
right on
Great upload, cracking live band they were.
Karen O totally was into this singer, when she was young.
She heard The Mexican for sure.
I love Janita !!!
If I was bboying to the tempo of The Mexican, I’d have set the dance floor on fire! That’s like 120bpm ⚡️🤸🏻
pure gem
HERMOSA mil veces HERMOSA Janika Haan te amo
Blimey… this is good!
Awesome set!! Those People Who Are Darker Than Blue reminds me of something from The Mars Volta but, without the headache!
