She's Dutch, but speaks with a perfect British accent. Pretty cool
Shaun Gordon indeed lol
English accent, there's no such thing as a British accent.
@@shabad0009 Sure there is. In the USA we have to delineate between American and accents spoken by people from England - thus a British Accent. No one says English accent in the USA.
@@mynameisgladiator1933 Scotland is as much a part of Britain as England - would you consider a Scottish accent British? I get the impression that you're confusing Britain with England.
@@shabad0009 I get the impression you're kind of arrogant.
Interessant.
What confuses me about the Dutch is how freaking good they are at languages.
Haha to be honest I'm only good at English, but at least it's something right?
Yes, but yours is excellent with barely an accent. Other Dutch people I have known speak German and French as well as perfect English. I speak Dutch, German, French and Italian. ALL badly!
jjaus At highschool we have 3 years of Dutch, English, German and French. I've also followed a Greek and Latin class for two years. I don't have German anymore, only French, but I can speak it very well. At some schools we even learn Chinese!
Nobody speaks dutch so we need to learn different
Except for the Flemish and South Africans sort of.
FUN FACT: there more bicycles in the Netherlands than people.
True
As a dutchie, i can confirm. In Leusden, ( it’s pronounced leujzden) they have a literal bike vending machine
It's funny, you can barely notice you're Dutch, but as soon as you speak a couple words of Dutch I'm like: All right she's sooo from Limburg!
rappernickisbaasch 😊😊
rappernickisbaasch same...
Her accent sounds so British. Wouldn't have guessed she was Dutch, unless I hadn't read the video's title. :)
Bernard Kay we learn english in british. not american, idk.
Beastmode, I implied she'd have a Dutch accent not the British (English) accent she's exhibiting.
I’m mexican, i know spanish and english perfectly, and i’m learning dutch, what do you think
The only wrong thing is that we speak Nederlands not Nederland (That’s the country)
That's Me as i said, i’m learning but thank you
Really good job!
Nico Di Angelo dank je
Good job!
I'm proud XD
I really admire the Dutch people. Their ancestors found a sea, pumped out and made a place to live. Everyone is welcoming to strangers in the Netherlands.
Don,t forget to reveal that a layer of butter or margerine on the slice of bread prevents the sprinkels from falling off...
Saskia Veen I had to be taught to do this properly when working out there.
tomw86 😂😂
Lieke Biemans dankjewel Lieke! 💗
Yeah as an English guy living in Holland I love it, it’s a really cool country with great people, I would say a few of the strangest things are the way everyone congratulates each other when they know or are related to someone who is having a birthday...and how everyone will individually introduce themselves to everyone in a room...also the two tone noise thing ‘a-har’ sort of like a sigh, or yawn style noise, but totally unique...
And the way cars give way to the right...makes driving completely unpredictable as you can never see what’s going to pull out on the roads in front of you....
And the Piete thing...actually I would be interested to know how Dutch people who have been living abroad think of it, and if it has changed since they left...
But yeah interesting video clip👍
Oh and also it’s really hard to sort of end a phone call with a Dutchie...in Brabant everybody tends to make a noises like Hoi-Hoi, doui....hoiiiiiii, urerrrrrrrrr...
You've nailed the home counties English accent. I'd have never guessed you're Dutch.
Haha thank you!
im german but i live in the netherlands i can hear it so easily but she can speak good english
Me too! Your english accent is really great, cannot hear the dutch accent. Thank you for making this video!
In Netherlands everyone speaks good English, don't they?
If I had to guess I would have said australian that's lived in the northeast U.S.
I don't know why some people compliment "dropping" their accents. Most accents are beautiful imo.
Here are things I saw in the Netherlands: Food: Eating raw herring, Oliebollen, Waffles. The Dutch probably drink more coffee than tea. Culturally: when new babies are born you will see plastic storks with a baby doll hanging from its mouth to show that the family has a new baby. When students finish school their hang their school bag from the window with the Dutch flag.
I'm Canadian, but my wife is a Dutch woman who came to Canada when she was 12. Most of these things are very familiar to me.
3 Kisses: My mother in law is constantly warning the Dutch family members "Don't kiss Mark." She knows that stodgy old Canadians like me find it very uncomfortable. She must have spread the word to all of the family when we visited the Netherlands a few years ago, because it was never an issue.
Cycling: You must admit that your weather is more bicycle friendly than here in Canada. Cycling in 2 cm of snow is a challenge. Cycling in 30 cm of snow can not be done. I was very impressed with the cycling infrastructure through the whole country. There are bike paths and bike lanes everywhere, including downtown Amsterdam. I found that the cyclists were far more dangerous than the motorists when I was walking around Amsterdam.
Deep Fried Everything: This is proof that genetics have more influence than diet when determining body type. I'm amazed that the average Dutch person looks so fit when they eat so much fried food and sausage. I suppose that the cycling helps. Though I understand why there is so much fried stuff when the other options are Boerenkool, Andijviestamppot, or Snert. That stuff is foul.
Rokjesdag: Didn't know about this one.
Chocolate Sprinkles: My kids love these. It's funny that you call the fruity ones rainbow sprinkles. That's what we call them too. I always thought that Stroop was similar to Molasses.
Birthdays: The strangest thing about Dutch birthdays it that you'll say "Happy Birthday" to all of the family members. My mother in law will call on a child's birthday and happily say "Happy Birthday" to me. Though recently she has started saying "Happy Birthday for your daughter." I wouldn't call the talking in the circle "chatting." It is too chaotic for that. If there are 12 people in the circle, there are probably 16 conversations going on at once, possibly in multiple languages. The only time when I can follow things is when they break in to a chorus of Long zal ze leven.
Vlaai: Never heard of it. My father-in-law is from Texel and my mother-in-law is from Zutphen, but has some Friesian roots. I guess northerners are different. They'll have Appelkoek instead. Vlaai looks delicious though. Dutch baking is so good that I'm surprised you don't all weigh 300 pounds.
Beschuit met Muisjes: Rusks with Aniseed sprinkles. We bought these when my oldest daughter was born, but not when the younger two kids came along. For a while one of the colours of muisjes was not allowed to be imported in to Canada because the food colouring wasn't allowed here.
Snack Wall: I saw these in Amsterdam. It was a cool thing, and I bet that they are very careful not to let anything sit too long.
One warm meal per day: My in-laws usually eat their main meal at noon, but they are retired farmers. I think that this depends a lot on lifestyle.
Thanks for the great video. Tot ziens.
Ahh loved this detailed comment! Interesting to see as well that it carries over because of your wife! :-)
Te veel om te typen 😂 (ik ben NL)
In English we say TL;DR for too long; didn't read :)
The main meal at noon thing is quite common. Besides I only eat fried food about once a week, and the rest of our diet is usually quite healthy. So that might explain the fat thing.
U have a lot of time
From a guy born and raised in Brussels belgium...
1/ The Dutch are very polite. I hear more 'Hi can I help you?' than in Belgium. Also more friendly.
2/ they do lots of sports mainly cycling, tennis, football, and hockey of course.
3/ they speak very good English very early
4/ very organized. When I visit big cities it's all very neat. The great public transport system is an example.
5/ all very tall. You recognize them easily when they go abroad.
6/ lots of Indonesians in Holland. Even in small cities. I'm from Indonesian descent and it almost feels like going 'home' lol.
Having lived in Belgium for almost all my life, I can confirm #1. There's this mentality here that everyone should keep to theirselves; when you're walking on the street, a lot of people have 'long faces'. It's sad, however with the new generation, I believe there is hope! Nog een gelukkig nieuwjaar!
Belgium people have a Nice accent😂
Aswin A they cant speak english. They say Tank you i stead of thank you cause they suck at any language. Only a few people speak proper english. if you listen to the minister president he will talk english like a moron.
Mergim Morina, well, most people learn it from age ten, but, that has only started in the last couple of decennia, and if you learn to speak it at a higher age it's normal that it sounds different
Great transport system🤣 waar was de NS afgelopen donderdag?
I thought you were English when I heard your accent. Well done.
I am first generation Dutch in the US on my mom’s side, father is Irish American. These videos make me so happy and in touch with my heritage! Thank you
Goed bezig!
DonderJager haha ahh super lief! Dankjewel 😊😊
Laurie Robyn favoriete vlaai?
Laurie Robyn hoi.
Edit: OMG THX FOR THE LIKES ik heb nog nooit zoveel likes gehad!!!!!
_ AmazingWolfGirl _ hahaha
_ AmazingWolfGirl _ zo denken ze ook over ons
This accent for a Dutch girl is really impressive. I try to hide my accent and I do a good deal with it. but this is spot on !
Haha thank you!
gregoryviper she is dutch
That's what he said
Why would you try to hide accent?
Whats The point?
@@LaurieRobyn You could definitely fool people in the Netherlands and say your English. You need to dress the part though. Very easy to tell apart the Dutch from English just by clothes and make up.
The happiness in the Dutch eyes is always making someone else happier.Nice content:)

Lieve Disse Da’s Luxembourg 😂

Ik kan me er totaal in voelen maar wat mij ( zoals vele ) waarschijnlijk opviel: DAMN your accent is amazing! Perfecte kwaliteit video! :)
goed bezig
Klopt helemaal!!
yep
Perfect. I'm dutch as well. I adore your accent. It's such a relieve to hear somebody talking normal in the usual american blur that's all over the internet. I
Apart from that I also liked the contents of your video a lot. Keep going!
Unlike her grammar. "I've been born in the Netherlands"!
Greetings from Germany! - I love all Dutch! You are all so NICE PEOPLE! *HUGS*

Matthias Thanksss
We got to spend one day on a bus tour provided by cruise to rural countryside and a cheese manufacturer and a village with windmill and wooden shoe manufacture demonstration, preserving traditional buildings and culture. Loved the country side. Several weeks later, traveling by train and bus, we spent two nights in Amsterdam. The morning of the whole day in the Van Gogh museum, and the afternoon till they ran us out in the Rijksmuseum. We loved our short time in the Netherlands. We were most impressed with a school that was on the same street, a couple of blocks west of the Van Gogh museum, where our hotel was. It was some school celebration involving the families, and it was a sight to behold, a marvel of fellowship and getting together that lasted into the evening. We were also impressed with the vast numbers of bicycles for transportation, including the many families we saw, some dads carrying two or three small children on their bike. We really hope in the future we could return and spend more time in the Netherlands. We loved our short three days.
I'm Australian and lived in Holland for a year. The kisses thing blew my mind for the first 3 months and so did having to go around and congratulate everyone at the birthday party who was related to the birthday person. One of the strangest things though was when all the school kids graduated and they put their bags on the end of flag poles on the houses. I initially thought they were protesting against going to school.
Hahah ah yeah that must be really strange seeing all those school bags hanging around!
Wow. You speak with a proper British accent. Amazing.
no she doesn't....
MrWolf // MRW Yes she does..
Being Dutch I think we eat a slice of bread rather than 'toast'...
Kees Closed I think she means beschuit by toast
xDaniqueD No she didn't, she showed us a slice of bread with stroop and cheese on it lol
wacht, waarom praten we engels?
Masky Toons she said at 5:20 'toast' is beschuit lol
Noahtjuhh GT Yes, but translating 'toast' for 'beschuit' is just plain wrong... Beschuit is generally translated as 'rusk'.
I'm amazed at your accent. My Mother was Dutch. She was evacuated from Holland during WW2, landing in England, then to NZ 10 years later. She still spoke with traces of Dutch up until she passed away. For someone so young, you seem to have picked up the South Western English accent quite quickly.
As a Dutchie i had to find the Dutch accent in the first minute. She could fool people here and say she's English.

Haha ja "KIJK UIT, HET HAGELT"
I'm German and I've just watched a couple of videos of Americans in Germany sharing their experiences. Somehow, your video started playing next and I thought: Mh.. she's not American, that sounds like a British accent to me. Then keep listening and hear you say you're Dutch and not British. I'm really stunned. I go to the Netherlands as often as I can to attend music festivals, and I've talked to countless Dutch people over the years and I always can tell they're Dutch. Except Armin van Buuren when he's speaking English (he's accent free in my impression) and you who'd I've mistaken for a British girl.
Just wanted to share this. Keep going, bye :-)

I lived in the Netherlands for 20 years and yes, I can relate to it! I just love the country!🥰❤️ 🌷
How are the Dutch people so healthy considering they have loads of deep fried foods, chocolate, cheese & sugar loaded foods.
Maybe all the cycling? Haha! I have no idea though
Perhaps that is the reason for being slim. I thought your diet would lead to coronary problems.
she did mention that we only eat 1 warm meal a day though (Belgian btw but that's practically the same)
acctually, we don't eat it that much, it's just typically Dutch, that's why she put it in tbe video i think.
We tend or at least try to fry a lot if not to say we fry everything that doesn't melt , but we don't eat fried food daily.
Stroopwafels, oliebollen, hagelslag, chips with mayonnaise (!!!), all those deep fried snacks - the most amazing thing about the Netherlands is that no-one is grossly obese. Must be all the cycling.
Tarquin Midwinter This is so treu. Dutch people are mostly becomming fatter after a certen age... that is when they have there drivers license.. :D
Tarquin Midwinter, that is ignorant to say... The Netherlands also has obese people. Grossly is a definition that is not medical/clinical but personal. How obese is grossly to you.
Schiffelers I can see your vieuw. But i think, Schiffels that he has no intention to insult as of an ignorance...It was a joke. But true, here in the Netherlands people als have weight(-problems)...Lets me think of the times i wass eating stroopwafels terwijl ik fietste(while i was riding on a bike) :D
But in the Netherlands I see more people driving in a car alone, than that I see groups of adults cycling.
If the public transportation was free, like studenten OV for middle school aged children most would leave the bike at home. It is because things are local, and FLAT that people ride bikes on the more in the Netherlands than other European countries, fact.
The more south you go in the Netherlands the less bicycles are used. Here the landscape is not flat.
I know almost no person my age or younger that likes riding a bike. Most prefer walking or public transportation. The only time streets are filled with bicyclers is when Middle school starts and ends! Why not aloud to have a scoter or moped, public transport is costly for some families how many voedsel pakketen van de voedselbank?
So it is a stereotype like windmills, wooden shoes, being blond and blue eyed hitting close to 2m in length.
The Dutch being one of the tallest nations in the world is a fact. But it is not automatically fact that Dutch = tall. That is the difference *no-one* seems to respond too. (no-one.... see my grossly point!)
Hi Schiffelers, I'm a Brit living in the Netherlands. I also visit the USA now and then, so I'm in a reasonable position to make comparisons, however unscientific they may be. I'm not a doctor, so my definition of 'grossly obese' is purely personal. My comment was intended to show my affection for my adopted country, not to stereotype anyone. Love y'all.
ps. You might like to check out my video's of Dutch bike rides.
I’m half Dutch and I always bring chocolate sprinkles back home for myself and friends😂
My wife gets them here in Australia I use them on ice cream
I've some friends in Hungarian, and every time we visit them, we bring chocolate sprinkles!! And my father told us to let them take it all, cuz we can take as much as we want when we're back home again :(

What is the other half?
I’m half Dutch aswell and I sometimes bring back chocolate sprinkles aswell

Mike the Goo ja haha
jij spreekt blijkbaar perfect engels?

Miss my hometown everyday...
You kiss someone on the cheek 3 times here in the USA and you're getting either hit or arrested for sexual assault. Or both.
Oh and stroopwafels FTW!!!
Probably the worst example of Dutch food. Frikandel is nicer. The Dutch do represent themselves at international food festivals. Usually with "bitterballen" A useless bunch of deep fried food.
The newspapers here say how Americans are eating stroopwafels...top basketball players digging in to that snack.
It is breadcrumbs and syrup....not the best thing you could possibly eat lol :)
The Dutch eat a lot of potatoes too. A vegetable imported from South America.
Raw herring is the way to go :)
Ah yes, the famous Dutch MEAT WALL!
Altaranalt 🙆🏼🙆🏼🙆🏼
You forgot Traktaties, Olliebollen and Stroopwafels!!
Ja stroopwafels
Oliebollen!!!!!!
Kibbeling
Berenburg en drop
I loved your video! My boyfriend is Dutch, also from the south (Maastricht) there is something that I didn't see and I was hopping to hear your comment, the Stroopwafels! OMG the best sweet treat ever!!! 😍 I like a lot eating my stroopwafel soggy with my coffee.
Here some facts about your video that I found odd about Dutch culture :
- the 3 kisses thing is weird but funny 😂 I'm from Chile and we give just one kiss on the cheek, once we had a meeting with my boyfriend and his colleagues (all of them Dutch) and I gave like 45 kisses lol I was a bit dizzy after all that dance kissing cheek thing
- I also forgot about the black licorish sweets. The texture is a bit hard, like chewing a really old gummy bear but I like the flavor (the sweet ones, I hate the salty ones) specially the katjes drop
- the first time I saw my boyfriend eating hagelsag with the toast I was laughing so hard at him because for us (I'm Chilean) Chocolat sprinkles are just a topping for desserts or cake... For me is like eat a dessert with bread and butter 😂
- I also like a lot the appel stroop, the color is kinda odd but the flavor and the texture is like eating honey made of apples 😍 love it in waffles and pancakes.
- Dutch language is really hard to learn! For me reading it looks a bit like English and hearing it it looks like German 😅 doing my best! My boyfriend's mom doesn't speak any English or Spanish so I have to learn
That's pretty much it. Again, loved your video ✌🏻️
succes met leren!

Love salted licorice!
I recently returned from my visit to the Netherlands. It was freaking awesome and I loved it! I am from South Africa and my home language is Afrikaans, which is just another dialect of Dutch, but it is still a bit different; nevertheless, I did understand a lot of Dutch. It was a really awesome experience and I visited so many places, like the Afsluitdijk in Neeltje Jans, that small Venice like village in Giethoorn and several other places. I really loved it, thanks to all the Dutch people! Now for a challenge...
I am going to write a random paragraph in Afrikaans, let's see if you all can understand it:
"Ons was Maandag na die dam toe en dit was baie lekker daar! Toe ek by die dam was, het ek hierdie video gekyk en ek moet sê: Hierdie was 'n goeie video met 'n baie goeie persoon wat dit aanbied! Hierdie video het my geleer dat die Nederlanders baie kultuur het en dat dit awesome daar is, maar dit is net kak koud daar!"
Did you pass the test? NO GOOGLE TRANSLATE ALLOWED!
Niet zo moeilijk hoor!
Oh, not that difficult, hey? If you translated my paragraph successfully, then I congratulate you, well done!
Kindaa my family live in South Africa too
Still with Birthdays, the Dutch congratulate close family members on their loved one making it to another year.
Rob Roy hij heeft gelijk
As an Afrikaner and Afrikaans speaker this video was quite fun to watch and see how much we still have in common with our Dutch brothers and sisters, the "rokkiedag" , "stroop met kaas" and sitting in a circle in the living room chatting was so familiar! It is most defiantly first on my list to visit the Netherlands when I visit Europe!!
That's right. You use 'ie' instead of 'je' to make things small. Love that in Africa. Gorgeous place by the way.
Funny video :-). Just one question: why don't you use the word 'hagelslag', which is soooo typically Dutch? You describe it as 'chocolate sprinkles' but I REALLY missed the genuine Dutch word 'hagelslag' here ;-).
Gydjulind haha I'm sorry! 🙈
Does that mean that you just forgot to mention it ;-)? It's such a wonderful Dutch word, 'hagelslag' :-D!
Gydjulind saaameeee
"Sprinkles" is American. In the UK the nearest thing we have is called "hundreds and thousands"
Because we have a much more funy word for it in Belgium "muizestront" it means "shit of mices" and it realy looks like shit of mices.

It is understandable that rokjesdag is a relatively unknown tradition because the term was introduced for the first time by Dutch writer Martin Bril in 2010. He observed how young women dressed in their 'rokje' on the first sunny spring day and wrote a lovely column about it.
Your video is lovely as well!
I am Dutch, well, actually I was born in Suriname, but my ancestors are from Scotland. I guess that’s why I love the UK and all the English accents! I noticed your accent and I love it! Very well, almost really London English! 👍🏼😊
And about the Dutch traditions ... of course I know them and I think we should be proud of them!
Keep posting and for now ... have a really nice day! 🤗
Ongelooflijk hoe goed jouw Engelse uitspraak/accent is!
Chocolate sprinkles on toast/bread are sooo good😍 I've been to the Netherlands about two weeks ago and we took so much stuff to put on bread back to Germany😂 for example the Ovomaltine crunchy stuff is really good too😻
Oeh I've never actually tried the ovo maltine stuff, might need to whilst I'm home haha! X
thetimechanges what is Ovomaltine? Is that a Dutch thing, never heard of it.
You are from Germany? Ovomaltine comes from switzerland and we have it also her ein Germany. :)
You can buy chocolate sprinkles in Germany but you'll find them in the baking area. Cakes etc.
Your English is absolutely spot on.
I visited the Netherlands last spring and I remember being so confused about the sprinkles on toast! I had honestly never heard of it before, not until I saw people eating it at the hostel I was staying at haha. Still have yet to try it myself!
Gabriella Margarita haha next time you're visiting you should definitely try it! 🙈 xx
Dont forget to first put butter on the bread and then add the sprinkles!
@@BrianEmpa I never liked butter and i'm from the Netherlands. It is pain. I just took a bite of bread and then put chocolate sprinkles in my mouth. The tiny boxes are perfect for that. Call it Dutch ingenuity.
I live in Belgium and when we give 3 kisses on the cheek, it's usually first left, then right, and then left again. So when a we meet dutch men, THEN IT'S EXTREMELY AWKWARD.
Leuke video!
In the Netherlands it is also left right left

There many Dutch in Australia, most of them come from Indonesia originally.

We were in Damwoude, Friesland May of 2019 for almost three weeks. We had a wonderful time with family and did a lot of exploring along the numerous bike trails by the canals. The end of our trip was being in the Elfsteden Oldtimer Rally touring in a 1949 Mercedes Benz 170s visiting all eleven Friesland cities and going through many villages. An amazing trip and the people are beyond outstanding.
Wrm geven we 3 kussen? Wel: 1 voor u, 1 voor mij en 1 voor God...😂
Gaming Lover whaha goeie
Margo steur het is blijkbaar echt zo😂😂

Flame, yep, helemaal waar.
I do think a lot of people take on the American accent because of TV series? Might be the same for you :-)
Laurie Robyn Yes, maybe so, even if here in Italy everything is translated.))
Living now in Sweden, cycling here is done with a helmet. The reason the Dutch do not HAVE to is simply because their infrastructure for cyclists is superb. Separate cycle lanes, no dirt - sand or gravel - on the roads or cycle lanes...... and speed remains within reason due to the Netherlands being flat (no downhill craziness). And yes (apple-) syrup on cheese is pretty common.
Ik ook niet!! 😂
I am from syria and i love the netherland it’s the perfect country to live in and dutch ppl are the sweetest ever
Yeah. I love it when ppl from other countries say it. Btw what's your meaning of Germany
I am glad that you like the Netherlands
"1 warm meal a day."

I watched this video one year ago and now, that my exchange year in the Netherlands is almost finished, I can relate to all of them. Love the Dutch culture🧡
Hahahahahaha ☺️
I never knew that its not normal to congratulate everyone that attends the bday
Instead of just the bday girl or biy lmao
Dutch af
Soof 15 😂😂😂 that's so true!
Euhhhm i am Dutch and its not abnormal to congratulate everyone at the party (btw sorry for the bad spelling)
We congratulate everyone on a party, could be a birthday or weddingday. If you don't, people will find it really odd and rude.
I hate congratulating everybody at parties. Why would I? It’s not your birthday ffs. Yes I’m Dutch so I will but I don’t get it 😂
just politeness, WTF though, we sit in the circle like everyone else, but we play boardgames and music while we do this... and games on the big screen
I've been to Amsterdam twice, and this past time we also rode the train out to Arnhem and Nijmegan, which were wonderful to visit.
Hoi
Hoi hoe gaat het
wow...you followed a dutch course i guess :)
arno nabuurs no I'm Dutch :)
lmao
Tebe privet dorogaya Mihaela Nikoleva Mi vce tebya liubim !
I'm Dutch and I've been living in Leeds and Lille....and really the only thing I missed being in another country ( aside from my family of course) was De Efteling. I would live there, if I could...without hesitation.
I didn't know anything about the Dutch culture until i met my husband and now i can say... "i can relate to this" 🤣🤣🤣
I am from the North, but I love vlaai to
Is vlaai soos flan?
I'm half Dutch and visit the Netherlands every year, I have picked up a lot from my family😂
Im Dutch but have been living in England for many years nice to see this video to reconnect :)

Maybe her English is that way because how it was thought to her. Me, also Dutch, learned English in school (starting at age 10 or so. Once I visited my cousin in USA (LA) and answered the phone for her when she wasn’t there. The guy on the other end of the line asked; ‘Are you from England, sir?’

one thing that everyone understands is that she is beautiful 😍
Cool thanks. Ive been increasingly curious to plan and take actions to move to Amsterdam for at least 90 days or longer... I drive a taxi in Kansas City, but am really itching to leave America culture and explore the Dutch society in Amsterdam
Max Heter you should!
I wont go in Amsterdam... you can better go to some rusting place x
they dont have cabdrivers, everyone go by bike.
if you wanna get the stereotypical Dutch experience, definitely go for Amsterdam. Just know that Amsterdam is very different from the rest of the country. If you wanna live in a big city but you wanna have a more realistic experience I'd recommend Rotterdam instead. It's actually slightly bigger than Amsterdam and it's less touristy but there's always something going on and it's personally my favourite city. The other main big cities are Den Haag (The Hague) and Utrecht
Max Heter you should also go to haarlem!
I'm Swiss and eat hagelslag sinc my very young age, my grandmother is Dutch, and every time we went to the Netherlands, we used to buy some and bring it back to Switzerland. Now, we can buy it here, it's more simple.
Bn zeker de enigste surinamer

You are adorable. God bless and protect you, always.
we always give 3 kisses?? i dont, i just shake hands. i dont like to get that close with strangers
I thought its more of a middle eastern thing u know the 3 or 4 or 2 kisses on the cheeks thing i be living in Nederlands for 10 months and i never saw that sooo😅
Thank you for making this! I'm 1st generation Dutch American. My dad came to the US when he was 5 years old, and I've always been proud of my heritage; between me and my two brothers, I'm the only one to study the language! I've been teaching it to myself on DuoLingo, and I speak WAY more than my dad at this point! :P
My Oma and Opa were from the town of Deventer, by the way.
If I lived in the Netherlands I would weigh 200lbs.
I spent 3 days in Amsterdam last month. Marvelous city. The bike riders are absolutely everywhere and they are crazy. You have to look in about 6 directions every time you step off a curb or you will have a close call with someone riding a bike. Not a collision, just a close call. The bike riding skills are quite impressive. The curbs are only about 2 inches high so you have to watch your step. The people are very friendly and helpful especially when it comes to directions. Street signs are often missing or on the corners of buildings. The directions often consist of “go across three bridges, turn left, and go over the rails.” The food was fantastic, but expensive by American standards. A lot of signs are in English and quite a few people speak English so it is easy to find what you are looking for. Would love to go back some day.
we deep-fry a lot but not as much as the Americans. you won't find fried butter for example :)
good video though :)
WolfdenGaming /Mavadelo fried butter?? Wow haha!
ikr :read kitchenette.jezebel.com/the-most-ridiculous-deep-fried-foods-from-state-fairs-a-1572769682
Perhaps you will realize that our frying habits are not so bad at all heheheh
I'm 1/4 Dutch and my great grandpa lived in the Netherlands
