Enjoyed the comparison! The Ascent 18 is great with very few mods. Tires help a lot. I moved the esc/rec to one slider and use a FMS 380mah battery on the other slider. LGR Black Labels(with Injora yellow inserts) are great for me on this truck. Oh, no springs on the shocks works for me. I was very happy with this but caught a sale and grabbed under drive gears and brass portal covers for the front. Didn’t “need” those but it went from great to nicely refined. Could have happily lived with electronic relocation and good tires/wheels. Like this kind of comparison video, best bang for the buck, anyone can throw $200 at a $100 truck and make it “better”.
@@BrettB-n1s Wow man that’s great to hear. I was not sure if vids like this would work so I really appreciate the feedback. I have some of the smaller black labels also. Maybe I will do a tire comparison ( 3 or4 different sets ) on this stock version to see what works the best.
@FYRC15 Would love to see some tire comparisons. Those are tricky because so much depends on terrian, driving style etc but tires matter so much even(especially?) on these tiny trucks. I liked your observation that the stock tires were quite different on a heavier truck. I think that can make a big difference, so its all good info. Look forward to more comparisons.
You should try cutting out some of the lugs on the stock tires to open up the tread pattern. Looks like the same tread as the Ascent 1/10th and Fusion...made a night and day difference on big brothers
Well done! Really highlighted 2 things, wheels can really improve stock, but the balance and composure of the modded one was very apparent.. I think the modded one lost less performance than the stock one gained.
Great video. I would love to see a video on the FMS 18th anniversary edition if you have it.
@@elizabethporter8621 I’m glad you asked. I just got one and planning a vodeo on it.

@@nevrxhale9660 ok thank you. I might try that.

@@stunod-RC Yeah man I agree. I could have took it on some harder lines but I really wanted to compare both in a medium difficulty setting.
oh man just dont cut the fenders off..they were desined to push the tires down for grip,,now you need a body
