- Follows I-605 North to I-5 North to CA-2 south in the Los A, this is video 13-43 Remixed with expanded footage on the front end and a new soundtrack. Director's commentary is after the ride.
Excellent music choices! They brought back good memories and were a perfect paring for the ride.
Totally agree! But with the intro to the 3rd song I thinking it was LA Woman.
Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for all your work in melding music to the driving footage. My husband and I also love driving around the country but, like everyone, we're in covid lock down to be safe. We can't tell you how much it means to watch your videos and feel like we are on the road again. We drove from Carmel to Burbank to have a burger at Bob's Big Boy in 2014 and, like you, we weren't sure if or when we could do it again. So here we are just "california dreamin'" for now. GREAT work! Take care.
Much appreciate, thank you for watching and it sounds like we are a lot alike, there's nothing quite like being on the road for leisure :)
I love the video, and especially the song "Classical Gas"
Thank you very much!
nice evening time night video with some good wholesome 70s music, just the way i like them. "nicely" done, thanks Jim.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Yes, indeed, loved the two instrumentals from 69: Classical Gas and MacArthur Park - plenty of energy and momentum. Jim touched on the pronunciation of Los Angeles. I'm from New Zealand and I've noticed different forms - the Spanish form: Loce -AHN-heh-less and the Anglicized version: Loss-ANN-ju-less. From what I can gather there was a heated debate back in the 1930s about it, which ended up with the Anglicized version being adopted - as Jim would say, "fun fact."
@@marinedrive5484 Great comment, thanks!
All your videos stunning and background music awesome Sir 👍, waiting for next one.
Thank you very much!
THANKS from Cleveland
Great Job Jim Be Well ... Looking forward to the new ones
Thank you very much!
Love the Classical Gas! I loved going on the roads on my first time out to LA. Glad to have more content!
Thank you for watching!
Great video Jim! Love those palm trees and that glowing sunset. LA is magic.
Thank you Jeff, it is indeed!
It was 30 years ago this month I went to LA for my first and only time- love seeing how it has changed since I went there 30 years ago and I never tire of California and it's freeway system in general- there is just something about them! Great ride- good remix and great commentary at the end of the video- I love hearing your comments about the trip and all at the end- and it makes for a nice touch if you ask me! I really enjoy seeing your videos, remixes, and all- sorry about the delay in finally viewing it- sometimes I can get caught up in other things- so things fall to the wayside- but great ride!
Thank you for watching and for the comment, you watch when you can, no biggie, glad you enjoyed it!
i never been past washington dc and mass i dont know what its like to be out there but its like im in Los Angeles when i watch your vids keep up the good work jim!!!!!
:)
Thank you very much, the west is amazing, hope you get out there someday.
I like all of your soundtracks i love music anyhow
Thank you!
Fun fact : The intro you see in FWJ’s current intro was taken at the interchange between
I-635 and US-75 in Dallas Texas
So Beautiful. I miss it there!
Another terrific Video, Jim and the music was perfect!!! I'm thinking of putting you in my Will, as you have truly helped many of us "travel" during this crazy year! Seriously, your efforts are MUCH appreciated!
Thank you John, I appreciate the sentiment and I'm truly glad you enjoy the videos!
Great choice of music, smooth, seamless edits, just the right level of annotations, and it was a very enjoyable trip! Your editing skills are getting so much better! I especially enjoy the night videos. Thanks for putting this all together!
Thank you Buddy, I keep trying to better at this, thanks for noticing.
Nice driving! Definitely have to pay attention out there.
Thanks and you are correct on that!
please do lots more night time sights, like the one you did in the Wyoming video, that video gives me goose bumps every time i watch it, its so sweet with its lonely looking drive in the dark, with its half moon shining in the night sky with the sun slowly disappearing over the ho rising taking a cluster of stars with it, and-of course with its magnificent dreamy seal song setting it off, its a master piece.
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy that. I get what I can, I need some sort of lighting or it's pointless, the camera does have limitations. The Wyoming video was an outlier, it was my son's idea to capture it, we had never seen an orange sunset so late in the day before so we set the camera up with no expectations, it just happened to turn out OK.
@@Freewayjim it turned out fabulous.
the Sheridan Wyoming video was also a masterpiece in clueding all of the soundtrack. just as fabulous.
@@lukejayjackson9287 Thank you much!
Welcome back Jim. Beautiful video about sunny Southern California.
Thank you!
Freewayjim You’re welcome.
Jim, outstanding video work... you're getting really professional....
Thank you very much, just trying to do the best I can.
Great video I loved the sunset in the background combined with the great music
Thank you!
Great video!!! So enjoyable. Love the 60's music, so Hollywood!
For out, Man! A Groovy remix if I do say so myself. Diggin' that sound track and the beautiful So Cal sun set!
Thank you, deep cuts FTW!
I’m 19 and grew up on these freeways recognized every part!
These musical gems you unearth....Always a revelation
Thank you, I appreciate that VERY much!
Fantastic as always!! (Don't leave the cake out in the rain...)
LOL, yes indeed, thank you!
The first song, Classical Gas, was used as a “theme” song for one of the local news stations where I live.
It's definitely a classic, that's pretty cool!
The only place I miss driving around more than LA (outside of rush hour) is the Bay Area. Thanks for the virtual cruising!
Thank you for watching!
Gotta love that brown LA skyline. LOL
Your footage is always on point. 👍🏾
Thank you!
As I watched this, love those songs of the late '60s as other viewers like those kind of late '60s songs. Of course representing 1969 except for Classical Gas which was released in 1968 and won the Grammy's during the following year.
Freeways in Los Angeles, CA may be heavy traffic most of the time during dawn, dusk and even the middle of mornings.
Thank you for watching!
By the way, "Classical Gas" lost to "Hello, I Love You" by The Doors on the Billboard Hot 100, holding at #2 for the weeks ending August 3 to 10, 1968. Not only it's #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, but also #2 in Canada. It was one successful instrumental as a one-hit wonder. Using that song along the 605 is amazing.
Great video!
Thank you!
i like your videos and great Video! Best regard from Germany :)
Thank you!
Awesome Ride!
Thanks freeway Jim:)
Thank you!
Thx for making a new video
Thank you for watching!
I enjoy the ride and beautiful music 🎶🤩😍☺️😊🙂😊
Glad you did, thank you!
Hope you and yours are doing well. I know Georgia was hit like we were up in NY in April, it's no fun. I hope the house repairs did or is doing well. An of course Donna Summer did a very popular version of "MacArthur Park"
We're all good, thanks....I used Donna Summer's version of MacArthur Park in the video before this back in May, Video #20-10, first song, a much different dynamic. ruclips.net/video/E_nCDp_asJI/видео.html
Copyright can always be a point of frustration I’m sure. If I were to make a 1969 themed video I would be inclined to include Abbey Road but it’s RUclips won’t allow that. The entire Beatles catalog is very protected. But either way, it’s impressive how the soundtrack always fits with the video regardless of artist or era.
You are correct....there are many other songs from 1969 I could have used as well but these three fit together time and tempo wise, thank you for watching!
Good Morning! Jim.
Good morning!
Great video 👍
Thank you!
@@Freewayjim You're very welcome :)
I like the 80s music.
Jim, you're a treasure.
Well thank you, I appreciate that :)
I assume the "I don't know what's next" commentary was accurate on Memorial Day, but not today thanks to your recent announcement about the rest of the season. And I knew you had recently used Donna Summer's version of "MacArthur Park", but didn't realize it was just last video! A bit surprised you didn't go with Richard Harris' 1968 original, but you found an instrumental from 1969 that worked well. (And yes, I'd recognize the tune anywhere. I first heard it when a local TV station used the instrumentals from Harris' version for its movie nights back in the 1970's -- appropriate for Gen. Douglas MacArthur's birthplace with its own MacArthur Park.)
You are correct! yep, used Donna Summer's version in 20-10. The Richard Harris version of MacArthur Park while excellent would have been too long and slow for this video, I needed short with tempo and Hugo delivered :)
Have ever been on the San Francisco Bay Bridge?
Many times and there are several videos of it on this channel.
I like your video
Thank you!
@@Freewayjim your welcome im your biggest fan
they were used as news music.
When I was a kid, one of my local news channels used “Classical Gas” as their theme song.
@@elizabethorsillo7187 it was used by several stations in the 1970s and possibly the 1980s.
This was when I-5 between the Orange County line and the East Los Angles Interchange largely resembled a mid-1950's freeway (when the Santa Ana Freeway was still signed as US-101). Caltrans is working on upgrading the whole freeway to more modern standards (I think they got it upgraded all the way to the I-605 Junction and are currently working on the section between I-605 and I-710). Still get a kick on how I-605 uses "THRU TRAFFIC" as a control city for both North and South. I wonder if anybody has made that journey to "THRU TRAFFIC"?🤔🤔🤔
Gr8, once again an interesting set with good music. What camera do you use? hope you don't mind sharing the information. Thanks!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I post all my gear in the closing credits at the end of the ride, go to 9:38.
Nice video
Thank you.
I believe that the first song was used in a bonus video from 2013
You are correct it was!
0:43 in-n-out for the W! 👍🏽👍🏽double-double animal style, I hope...
Nah, just Double-Double w/chz, ketchup and mustard, I have simple tastes with regard to burgers.
@@Freewayjim whatever works for you is what matters! Still a good choice though 👌🏽
Took RUclips 6 days to put this on my wall wow
Great video, Jim! One small correction though: I believe I-5 ends in Washington, not Oregon.
Reread the comment, I was talking about I-5 in CALIFORNIA only.
I still crack up that It’s all “THRU TRAFFIC” on the 605. What’s so bad about putting “irwindale” and Long Beach for both ends as control cities?
What is funny is that the modern reflective signs that have been put up recently still uses "THRU TRAFFIC" as control cities on the 605.
Nice video, and I’m sorry for saying what I said last time when I said to film in Ct, I did not mean it, please forgive me
Thanks, I do what I can, this is an expensive and time-consuming hobby.
Yes Jim you nutty fella
The Good The Bad and The Ugly was written by the late great Ennio Morricone.
Yes, Montenegro's version hit #2 on the charts, I can only be so wordy in 8 seconds and limited space. I did not credit Monentegro for writing it either, just that he's known for the song.
You should do region editions
East Coast
Midwest
South and
West Coast:
Washington
Oregon
California
Nevada
Arizona
I have playlists on here for individual cities and states, usually, this channel is built around a yearly road trip of videos in the order they were recorded, nice idea on your part but I don't see myself doing it.
I know this one well since I played it alot because Family Man was good fit till I clicked it the other day and saw that they got it....OK let me get to the expanded part 😀
Yeah, Fleetwood Mac is a no-no on here, lol, thank you!
Yes los agelas
It's 1969 like The Brady Bunch!
Sinclair or Standard Oil?
In what context?
👍🤩✌️🔱
