I started watching pll and when Emily turned out to be a lesbian I knew that I was not the only girl in the world who felt this way. I have always knew that I liked girls since 2nd grade and when Emily came out I did too, my mother told me I am going to hell and that my father would have hated me for this ( he died ) . She sent me to connecticut to my aunts house and has not spoken to me since then, I am just glad that You gave me the courage to come out and now I know who my mother really is. What should I do?

Even though I am straight and a strong christian, I still think that is wrong of your mother to do. Even though I don't like the fact that there has to be people who go against the Bible and be gay or lesbians, they shouldn't be harassed for it. I really don't know what to say. Even though it is your mother, that is really cruel. I don't know what I can do to help.

Wave.of.sorrow sometimes the people close to you don't understand things the way you do. I think especially when it's a parent who's supposed to be there for you no matter what it's beyond hard to keep going. But you have to know that even though she is your mom she's not your whole life which sounds horrible. But I think love is love and you should just keep doing you because you couldn't change the "type of person" you love. And whether or not you reach out to her is completely your choice and if you don't want to don't feel guilty because family who doesn't treat you like family doesn't deserve your presence in their lives sometimes. And if you do reach out to her just don't be disappointed in her response because she may start to understand or atleast try to hang out with you and disregard the gay thing but she may never. Sorry if this was so negative it's just that I know what it's like being let down by family and it's hard to keep trying and it's hard to know when to stop trying. I hope this was helpful somehow. ❤️️

Part of me feels like there's really no need to "come out". You shouldn't have to announce it. You date who you date, you love who you love.
I think its because of the discrimination and abuse a lot of the LGBT community had to face for hundreds of years. So it's brave and courageous of them to come out now

I love how you guys were so open about everything. This is why I love watching your videos because you don't hold back on certain topics because of how others will react to them. It infuriates me how people expect people to look different/dress different because of their sexual orientation and it confuses me so much as to why they think like that. ugh i am so tired of this statement! “you don’t look like a lesbian” ... and its been pointed out a lot but people still don’t get it at all ... if i could count how many times my girlfriend and i have been asked “so who’s the man in the relationship? you both look girly” i wouldn’t know where to start ... there is no man. thats the whole point! just two women in love.

I am a big fan of Shay and I love her acting, videos and I'm obsessed with the way she looks but I just felt like awkward watching at certain points because Ingrid is so fun and bubbly and would smile and giggle and I feel like Shay just had a straight and serious face the whole time while Ingrid giggled and stuff :/

Love this. My only issue though, is that it's frustrating to me how social media works. You and Ingrid are both well known, so it was probably easy to reach out to each other and gain friendship. Me, however, I would love to reach out to you & discuss worldly things and make videos together and gain friendship, not as a fan but as another woman just as you two. It's depressing knowing I'll never be able to contact you because I'm just a little fish in a huge pond. Either way, you are both very empowering and I love it!

I found this video at the right time. I just didn't know enough that strangers can pick u up when ur down, it doesn't sound true when u say I was inspired by a video of a stranger. But it's true when u really need positivity so badly. Am having my friend/gf struggling with terminal cancer and she is the only person I have that really means a lot to me, who understands me, has been there for me through it all. She watched over me and she loved me beyond dought. Am scared am losing her. She knew my secret and I knew hers so we didn't need to come out. But what will be my world without her. That puts me back in the box of not being understood and having to seal pains and emotions deep down... That kills me.

With Shay saying that Ingrid's coming out inspired a lot of people it honestly did, before I watched that video I had come to terms with myself about who I am and had felt comfortable with my own sexuality for nearly a year. Once I saw Ingrid's video I was inspired to be truthful to the people who I cared about in my life with that part of me and after I had what Ingrid had said rang true with me. I know that this is something that should be commented elsewhere but sometimes a little comment from a stranger on the internet could inspire everything and make you realise that yeah maybe I should tell them or even at least help you take that step towards coming out and being truthful about who you are and honestly a little comment like that can go a long way.
