This would’ve been my type
of dark wizard. Knowledgeable, unethical, and monstrous. He could’ve amassed an enormous amount of information about the limitations of dark magic while in isolation from the screams of horror from others. I always imagined that Ekrizdis succumbed to the very creatures that he gave birth to, eventually.
Truly a just fate for suck a vile wizard!✌
What if he was actually the one the Peverells tricked and defeated, but due to the passage of time, what became known of their battle descended into myth and he gained the title of Death due to it? That "The Three Brothers" tale was just a tall tale to make up for forgotten history?
I suspect the Dementors are something similar to inferi. Undead, but still possessed of their tortured souls. And that new Dementors can be bred from the consumed souls and rot of Azkaban.
I'm glad those things don't exist in our world, they'd be everywhere unfortunately. Humanity has done some pretty ugly things.
The way you pictured the freeing of souls after a Dementor's death, reminds me of the awful way IT also feeds off of fear (instead of happy memories) and how the souls are trapped in the lights, then after IT's vessel is destroyed, all the souls ascend to the infinite.

My personal theory is that dementors are created when a person has delved so far into helplessness and misery (possibly through torture) that their soul breaks. The body is empty and begins to decay, then starts seeking a new soul to replace their missing one, though never satiated.

Pinch them between two patroness charms? I did read the books so I know I spelled that wrong.
I always assumed the dementors are just corpses being piloted by a magical strain of the cordyceps fungus... You pile corpses up until they get all moldy and covered in fungus and then throw nearly dead people who have broken souls on top of that so they become infected by the fungus. I think Dementors are like floating angry mushrooms and use the kiss to prep the next body for the fungus.
Love it when I feel I know almost all I could possibly know about the world of Harry Potter and then you make a video on something I never even thought to look into before. Thanks for the new information.

The pronunciation of the wizard's name seems almost like 'Accretion', as in the Accretion Disk of a Black Hole, that draws in all light and matter, leaving at best a time-shadow of the doomed target.

Here's what I'm wondering, all of a sudden: if these creatures are born from the energy of death & suffering, then could the Resurrection Stone have some kind of effect on them? Could THAT be the weapon we need to destroy them once and for all?

My theory is that the souls sucked by a dementor become dementors themselves when it dies.
There seems to be a connection between him and umbridge since they both loved to torture and see people in pain. Could they be related even though it's several hundred years apart?

Yesterday, I just rewatched the HP part4 about the Goblet of Fire, which is as you all know an incredible magical artifact. I wonder the story behind it like the history of it. How was it made to choose the best champion from each school and why Harrry was selected? I don’t know the history of the goblet of fire but Harry was selected because of professor moody (which was actually Barry crouch jr). He used a confundus charm on the goblet and submitted Harry’s name under a fourth school. So the goblet was tricked into choosing a fourth champion. I hope that makes sense 😊

I think it's wrong to say that dementors were only created in 15th century.
It is known than the patronus has existed since ancient greece.
Also the ancient wizard razcidian had an army of dementors, with whom he attacked a village. So Dementors definitely existed before 15th century.
They are born from despair and horrible conditions, so Azkaban's dementors weren't the only ones in history.
Perhaps its possible there’s multiple strains of dementors, and normally they feed and can survive for a while, but the ones bred in azkaban had so much to feed on that now they go hungry very fast, and they are perhaps now the dominant breed of dementor

My theory is that Ekrizdis put his victims under the Cruciatus curse or something equally painful for days or weeks on end, while using magic to prevent them from going insane like the Longbottoms and prevet their hearts to stop and be relieved. After days and weeks of maximum pain, non - ending in any way, they transformed into dementors.
but now I wonder: can dementors MAKE another one? could you go to them and say "make me one of you"?

How do you kill a dementor? I understand that you can repel them but how would one kill them to free the trapped souls?

All this begs the question. Were dementor's already known to the ministry at the time of them discovering the island fortress? And if not, then how did they defend themselves against the dementor's at that time?

I have a question that I've not really thought about at all but it's got me curious....
Since there are vampires in Harry Potter folklore, do you suppose Voldemort and Quirrel were vampires, since when Voldemort was Quirrel's parasite in the Philosopher's Stone 🇬🇧 or Sourcers stone 🇺🇸 and used Quirrel to consume the blood of unicorns to keep himself alive, then the fact that Quirrel was burnt to ashes when Harry touched him, the fact that Quirrel had vampire like finger nails seems very vampire like to me and you never saw Quirrel out in the daylight at all.
As for Voldemort himself, he was once a very handsome young man in his youth we know he lost that by way of creating several Horcruxes by that of murder splitting his soul into several pieces, because of that his handsome human looks seen him transformed into a bald headed, no nosed, snake tongued, pale like skinned, snake eyed creature, he also needed Harry's blood to regenerate his body.
Lastly, Voldemort never goes out in daylight accept for that time in the battle of Howarts where he had his final duel with Harry (I think the only reason he could go out in sunlight was because he was weakened by all his Horcruxes being destroyed making him more human again eventhough he kept his snake like pale looking appearance, the only thing keeping alive was Harry, until Harry destroyed him ofcourse).
Sounds very vampuric to me.

Wonder what would happen if Voldemort got the Dementor's kiss while he still has his hocruxes.
Most likely his body would remain in a vegetative state until a horcrux was brought to him, at which point his soul has to be transferred over. Then he would regain consciousness, but he'd be plauged with nightmares of what happened, plus one part of his soul is now being digested by a dementor.
To put simply, he would suffer worse than he already does by anchoring his soul to several objects.

It doesn't bother anyone that magic was the reason the Romans killed the druids on Anglesey in 60 CE? So why would magic be so young by comparison to Christianity? Just a practitioner of the craft here...
