Also team reptile included a unleash the beast mode for switch breaking it free from a rock solid 30fps to a unstable 60fps I expected to hear and see your coverage of this feature
@@SwitchUpYt The taxi signs are just hard to spot in general since they don't stick out very well. The one in the hideout is right at the top of the main stair set.

JSR is one of my favourite games of all time, but it could be frustrating at times, particularly with the controls. I bought Bomb Rush Cyberfunk the other day and I love it. It's improved on all the frustrating elements and added some depth to the gameplay. Visuals and music are great. If you loved JSR, I'm sure you'll love this too.
I completely agree! JSR was brilliant, but trying to find cans on a map you didn’t know in a time limit was a nightmare. Being able to just explore these maps and revel in the gameplay has been unbelievably fun
@@casshernbr5412 I think the main skating control is similar, but tmaybe a bit tighter. The skate camera was more of a problem with JSR if I remember right. The graffiti controls are much easier on this as on JSR you had to pull off Street Fighter type movements, which although not that difficult, would punish the switch analogue sticks a bit too much. It generally feels a bit less frustrating to control than JSR did, anyway.
The one little grape I have with this video is what you said Mark about if people looking for jet set radio 2 this is it or somewhat along those lines. Which last time I checked there was a sequel for this title in the past. So you should have said if anybody looking for a jet set radio 3 this might be the closest thing there is but other than that you're video is big W and amazing as always ❤
This Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is one of cooliest games of 2023, I like this futuristic world, colors, character designes, skating moving and grafgities. This Switchversion looks surprisilly good. 😮

The game is amazing! One minor gripe I have is to not show the score after the duel. The screen change fast and if you don't look before it changes, you can't see what is your score. But again it's very minor and the game is fantastic!
I didn't have this on my radar at all, and I wouldn't have thought it would be up my alley...but I'm intrigued. That gorgeous art style really tickles my brain in the right way, and gameplay looks so smooth! I'll put it on my wishlist and keep my fingers crossed for a nice physical

Great review! Just a note on that Heat Level complaint (I agree the enemies can be annoying), changing outfits in the porta pottys actually erases your heat level, adding a gameplay reason to explore your favorite outfit! Also doing some key missions erases the heat level.
Leaving the area also erases heat level. Don't think it applies to connected areas though (eg. Millennium Square and Millennium Mall) Haven't tried using a taxi but I assume that would also erase it.
Looks like a ton of fun, and this review did a fair bit to really sell me on it even more. Unfortunately I just don't have the time for it at the moment so it'll be wish-listed, but I'll be getting to it for certain.
This games oozes them early 00's cool vibes! Surely some of the devs must of worked on Jet Set? A few minor patches and we have a classic that will definitely be remembered here.

It's called a Dance Cypher and The Taxi is really meant for to get back at an certain spot when doing the story in each borough which I found very convenient for me but dope review yo keep up the great work!

It is a tradition of mine to watch your videos while I eat my dinner (pasta and garlic bread tonight as I'm sure you're wondering). This is the only one I haven't seen yet and to be honest I clicked thinking "I don't think this will be for me but I'm watching anyways because well, it's switch up." Gotta say my mind has been changed! My backlog is constantly smacking me right in the face but it's been added to my deku list and will pick up at first sale.
Had Jet Set on Dreamcast and utterly loved JSR on OG XBOX. Loved the visuals and in particular the soundtrack (I bought it). Just downloaded this and looking forward to it and great review!

If anyone is getting this for steam I was advise being very causious at the moment. There is a pretty big bug with the autosave feature that will cause you to lose any progress you made in that sitting and start you back from when you first loaded up the game for that session. There is no manual save feature so many people, including myself, did lose hours of progress from this. Just something to be aware of if youre interested in the game. Console versions dont seem to have this issue though. If you really want it for steam, I'd say wait for a patch
This game is truly amazing i bought it day one, I definitely recommend it for any Jets Set Radio fan sadly for some reason i still don't understand they didn't let us have the Lethal league blaze DLC that steam has but hopefully its not favoritism by the company and they actually add it to the switch soon

6:29 huh? there's definitely a taxi stand at the hideout. the thing about fast travel spots is you have to interact with them before they unlock to be used. but there's definitely one there.
My only complaint is that it's lacking the way JSR oozed with style. It's here but feels more reserved. Also lack of voice over as I miss the DJ from JSR as your kind of narrator. Other than that I am pleased with what they did. It's all we ever wanted from a sequel. I even bought the original Xbox Jet Set Radio Future to plug in my 360 just to play it in preparation for this release. I never actually did play it though. Lol
I've been enjoying the heck out of this one. The controls took me awhile to get used to - and I still occasionally get frustrated, especially when I want to get off a railing, only to be auto-connected to another nearby rail. I watched a few tips vids on YT, which helped considerably with a few things the game either fails to explain, or doesn't explain until quite late in the game, about movement, so I definitely recommend others consider doing the same as it makes things much more enjoyable. The biggest tip is that boosting out of a manual, then landing in a manual again right away, will refill the manual bar and allow you to manual near-endlessly (keep doing tricks while in a manual to help refill your boost bar). That goes a long way towards chaining together more moves for bigger scores. Like you, I'm also not a huge fan of the "heat" system, as it makes exploring to find each area's graffiti locations less fun than it could be. You *can* lower your heat level without dying, though. You simply have to find a nearby portable toilet (porta-potty?) and go in, where you can change your outfit (or not). Once you leave, your heat level will be returned to zero. That said, it's still annoying to have it go right back up as soon as you start tagging again. Also, I definitely agree when it comes to the weaknesses of the fast travel system. Finding those taxi signs when you want them can be a real PITA. Overall, this isn't a perfect game, but once you get the hang of it, it's at least 95% fun, with the occasional annoyance. And that's good enough for me.
I never played Jet Set Radio, but I used to watch my older brother play it. So when I saw this game announcement, my interest was peaked. I've been having a ton of fun with this game. It's so stylish and fun.
Plot reminds me of Dead Head Fred. Great game, wish it got a sequel or at least a port. Been keeping my eye on this game for a while, glad to see it came out great, will buy it when I get home. Now I wish someone would revive SSX.
I love the game. To be fair even though jet grind radio is one of my favorite games as well it still has its own issues in places too. This is the perfect successor if we’re never going to get another jet set game I’m glad we at least get this. Hover was pretty good as well, which came out a few years back. This is an amazing game. I bought it yesterday. It didn't just try to copy Jet Grind Radio, it actually adds to the formula in such a natural way that it could easily be considered Jet Grind Radio 3.

Ok so a few pro tips for everyone here: 1. You can change your outfit in any map but you have to find a yellow portable bathroom, this will also take away all of the heat you have gained 2. You can unlock the taxi very early in the game, although i don't really know what triggers the event to appear, and you CAN actually go back to the base with it but i don't know why this couldn't 3. You can defeat any cop with just two hits by kicking and then jumping inmediately after, this will launch them into the air and you can tag them instantly.
This game is the best game that's come out in a decade. It is truly Jet Set Radio Future (not JSR) fully reimagined into a masterpiece of perfect performance. Which is where JSRF struggled at times. Haven't felt sp enthusiastic to play a game, in the last 20 years.

You can zero your wanted level by changing clothes in the orange cabinet box. But, remember, some areas can only be reached by having a wanting level of 2.
I played jet set radio once at toys r us as a kid lol but the nostalgia still hits, but if anyone remembers "Air Gear" that's what this game reminds me of. got the urge to read it again after playing lol. wish the skates hat motors in them lol
Loving this game so far! One thing I'm really hoping for (if it doesn't become an in-game progressive unlock later down the line) is a map legend! Just something to show maybe missed bits of graffiti, collectables or those high-fives should we want to go back for them. Hell, even having icons for the high-five booths and for the changing cubicles would be handy!
There's a setting called "Unleash the Beast" that unlocks the frame rate of the game. The frames go from 45-60 in this mode with the resolution looking the same.

6:36 No you can fast travel back to the base. It says hideout when you pick which location you want to fast travel in.
you have to discover the sign taxi first, which the game never tells you appears in yhe hideout after interacting with the driver

You can change your character in the hideout you just have to talk to whichever one you wanna switch to and they ask if you wanna tap out

Looks like good fun.. Jet Set Radio always looked brilliant, but it ended up just being a frustrating pain.
Be honest, you looked at those dance moves and remembered a time you busted those same moves while waiting in line at the tuck shop!
It's like the Jet Set Radio sequel Sega never gave us
Ok so a few pro tips for everyone here:
1. You can change your outfit in any map but you have to find a yellow portable bathroom, this will also take away all of the heat you have gained
2. You can unlock the taxi very early in the game, although i don't really know what triggers the event to appear, and you CAN actually go back to the base with it but i don't know why this couldn't
3. You can defeat any cop with just two hits by kicking and then jumping inmediately after, this will launch them into the air and you can tag them instantly.

This game is the best game that's come out in a decade. It is truly Jet Set Radio Future (not JSR) fully reimagined into a masterpiece of perfect performance. Which is where JSRF struggled at times.
Haven't felt sp enthusiastic to play a game, in the last 20 years.
I wish Sega would release a HD Remaster of Jet Set Radio Future.
Team reptile is 2/2 out of the games they made.

Lower your wanted level by changing cloths in a bathroom. It will clear the cops and start over your wanted level.
Wish they would implement multiplayer downhill racing mode 🔥🔥
This game understood the concept of love.
The best way to lower your wanted level is by finding and entering outfit changing booths.

Lowering heat is super easy! Changing skins in bathroom resets the wanted ledel.

You can zero your wanted level by changing clothes in the orange cabinet box.
But, remember, some areas can only be reached by having a wanting level of 2.
This has been a rough week on the wallet. This game just oozes style and I love it.
I played jet set radio once at toys r us as a kid lol but the nostalgia still hits, but if anyone remembers "Air Gear" that's what this game reminds me of. got the urge to read it again after playing lol. wish the skates hat motors in them lol

Loving this game so far! One thing I'm really hoping for (if it doesn't become an in-game progressive unlock later down the line) is a map legend! Just something to show maybe missed bits of graffiti, collectables or those high-fives should we want to go back for them. Hell, even having icons for the high-five booths and for the changing cubicles would be handy!

There's a setting called "Unleash the Beast" that unlocks the frame rate of the game.
The frames go from 45-60 in this mode with the resolution looking the same.
I bought this for the vibe alone
On Amazon in the UK it's £19.99 for the physical copy and CEX are paying £16 cash so definitely a bar-jan for £4!
Loved Jet Set! This brings back memories.
It does have the feel of jet set radio but I'm not sure yet. Maybe I'll pick it up a bit later on.
