    Hello Austin. You’re the man to know and meet in Japan. It’s amazing that you know the local market so well and arrange these amazing deals. 😊😊😊

    Wow I've never seen someone so eloquently explain the minute difference in a single model of a watch before. This man is the foremost expert in Rolexes. I would love to watch a live stream where he answers superchat questions. I have a few to ask in regard to the ref. 16570 especially ones being sold in Japan where I will be going in April. I have so many questions from things like how to look for polished cases, or if a watch has aftermarket parts.

    Sea Dweller’s are awesome time pieces….the Red Vintage are beautiful unique watches especially if there well preserved. Great review! 👍

    Austin. Great video. I live in Great Yarmouth, which at one time was the oil capital of the UK. We had a Comex office in the town and I would like to share a couple of stories about comex sea dweller. One is that the divers that used these watches were given them (yes for Free) as,it was part of the job. The Saturation divers played Conkers with them to pass the time, if they broke they just sent them back to the office and received a new one. I am happy to say that I have a Double Red given to me by my bast friend prior to his passing. He brought it in 1972. I know he kept it in a drawer for twenty odd years and I have done the same for the past 11 years. Shame really but they are just to expensive to wear.

      Very interesting - thanks for sharing! It sounds like you have a very special piece, and the connection with your friend makes it all the more important. I'd be nervous to wear it too. But it's great that you have it, and can appreciate it - even if it means just wearing it on special occasions.

    His red sub looks to be a service dial ("Swiss" only)? Maybe that's why it was so inexpensive?

    Man, that was awesome SD geek heaven! The deeply sad thing is, I'm going to watch it again (I have yet to memorise the serial numbers!)! I'm just getting my second SD (a NOS 16600) and starting to feel 'Triple 6s,' 'Great Whites,' and 'Double Reds' pulling me down to the depths of another obsession. Gonna take a while to descend, but probably even longer to decompress! Brilliant content Austin, we need more serious obsessive-level watch content on YT! Much like the 'Dweller itself: like normal watch YT, but more so!

    Austin, the SD wasn't co-developed with COMEX. It was a result of the SEALAB mission of the US Navy, Bob Barth and others in the mission jointly worked with ROLEX, specifically a guy who's name I can't remember right now.

    Excellent video, was there a single red SD during this vintage? I think there was may be.
    I very nearly bought one of these in 1994 at lucky plaza, Singapore for £5000 and a new one at the time was £1700 so I didn't buy it because of that ! I told the Chinese seller that and he blow his top saying i know nothing about this watch !
    But now i do know thanks to you.🙂
    Ps. On a new SD can you remove the Cyclops window?

    His red sub has a service dial, does he know? Normally service dials kill the value of the watch but I believe they are rarer than the original tritium single red dials (that it would have originally been fitted) just sayin’

      That red service dial is worth more than a white service dial but it’s still a huge hit to the value of the watch.

  • @Lonnie91a
    @Lonnie91a 5 месяцев назад

    Oh man service dial and hands on that red sub. That unfortunate. Half the value gone. The avg red sub is about $30 and a white sub is about $12-15k. That value diff is the dial.

    Instead of one million watches, Rolex are going to produce more than two million watches per year by building a new factory. All Rolex watches are all made by hand🤣. All the marketing of Rolex is a big scam, and people believe in it.🤣
