Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games

- The London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony saw Coldplay, one of Britain's best selling music acts, joined by global superstars Rihanna and Jay-Z in a spectacular celebration of achievements of the Paralympic athletes and an amazing summer of sport.
Celebrating the seasonal cycle of ancient and modern festivals that take place throughout the year, world-class musical performances took the audience on a journey through Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer.
The ceremony also honoured servicemen and women, and particularly the work of charity Help for Heroes, with Captain Luke Sinnott, a double amputee, climbing to the top of the flag pole to hoist the Union Flag. A motorcade of weird and wonderful vehicles then stormed into the Olympic Stadium, as ex-serviceman Rory Mackenzie delivered a rousing speech.
The evening also saw the Paralympic Flag was handed over to Mayor of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes, cueing a colourful musical performance by Rio 2016.
At the end of the night, as the Paralympic Flame began to fade, ParalympicsGB gold medallists Ellie Simmonds and Jonnie Peacock transferred the Flame to a Paralympic Torch. They then proceeded to light hundreds of torches held by members of the cast throughout the field of play before it was extinguished.
The ceremony ended with a spectacular fireworks display over the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Park, followed by fireworks along the River Thames.
Led by Closing Ceremonies Artistic Director Kim Gavin, Music Director David Arnold and Designer Misty Buckley, the Closing Ceremony was overseen by the same team of Executive Producers who have been in charge of all four Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies, including Oscar-winning film director Stephen Daldry.

I was originally here for coldplay, but literally stunned by how great the athletes are in the video footages along with coldplay's song! It is not hard to imagine how much effort they have paid, how many challenges they have to conquer to earned their place!

I actually love the song Strawberry Swing, it's such an incredible song and to hear it live would be amazing. Had I been there, I think I might have fainted from the sheer awesomeness. The entire ceremony was really good. Much better than the Olympic closing ceremony.

I was a games maker volunteer at the Grange St. Pauls Paralympic Family Hotel in central London and was lucky enough to be given tickets to attend this ceremony and feel the amazing atmosphere inside the stadium. It was one of the very best nights of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to have been a part of the London 2012 Paralympic Games!

At first I was upset they didn't do my favorite of theirs Fix You, then I realized it probably wouldn't go over well in this situation.....
Why wouldn't it?? Fix you is a song about unconditional love and about no matter what happens, I'm here for you, I love you and I'll support no matter what you're going through
Even though that song is about emotional fixing, I can see why it might be tone-deaf.
That was one heck of an evening the stadium rocked, an excelent conclusion to an excelent Paralympics.

I was priveledged to be at the Olmpic Park watching the weekends wheel rugby finals and then the closing ceremony, words fail to convey the true joy I felt being there, being a part of magical summer of sport. To all who made it possible Thank you.

This event, including the opening ceremony and the events I was able to watch have been the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I was so moved by the sheer number of people who planned and participated and the courage of the many athletes who competed.
This was truly inspirational for me as I wasn't aware before of just how truly talented so many para athletes are.
The production was super. The effort that went into organizing and achieving this event was spectacular.

I wish the Olympic Spirit was the truth of humanity, but we have a long way to go, much to clear up, to put right to grow and change if we want to survive. If life was like it was that day, humanity could even overcome war, pestillence and destruction and terrible injustice. I pray we will discover that Spirit within us forever.

Lucky enough to have got tickets and wow wow it was absolutely amazing - the lights in the stadium were spectacular, the sound system was sensational, the atmosphere electric and then you add Coldplay to the mix and it just became the best gig ever with the added bonus of being the last night of London 2012 - what a way to finish the Summer!
i was only 9 so i don’t rlly remember much from this night but there’s something about hearing mylo xyloto and charlie brown which makes me start balling,, i can literally see the lights and feel the vibrations of the music in my heart like i did on that night :((((

The whole concert you almost can't hear the crowd because of the size of the stadium and and Viva la Vida (1:31:15) you can hear them so hard in the background... INCREDIBLE!
