It’s pretty amazing how thanks to RUclips one can be “transported” to a peaceful Japanese village in an instant from the other side of the world (watching from the UK). What a beautiful place and that weather, wow! I’m originally from Poland where in mountains we have houses with similarly shaped roofs as it also snows a lot. They belong to Górale.
It's fascinating to see how villages that are regularly exposed to such weather conditions have adapted! Beautiful! That has now piqued my interest, I will definitely read more into it! Thank you for this video!
Thank you for this trip! I hope that very soon tourists can finally travel to Japan again without restrictions. If this happens, I will be among the first ones! I look forward to visiting this wonderful place!
Beautiful snow scenery and love the quiet you get in a snow laden place like that, only the sound of the boots crunching along. Must be a full time job just keeping the snow build up from getting too deep on some of those roofs, even the steep ones. Those poor trees need wacked with a long pole before the snow weight breaks those limbs off also.
Lots of snow and at times I felt concerned for you for braving the cold to show us this picturesque place. But it was enchanting to see the village totally shrouded in snow and mist. We have lots of rains here in Australia this year as well, at least in the parts of Australia I live in. However, it's steamy hot afterwards. Thanks for showing us the lovely sights. 🤩💖🥰
🇨🇦 Hello Alberta or British Columbia - this is south western Ontario - I’ve seen many folks (myself included) using umbrellas in the winter during flurries or light snow fall - esp during the past two winters so our masks don’t get wet - it isn’t normally a thing you think of in the great white north though 😁🤗
From Edmonton here - what’s incredibly amazing too is the snow seems to remain pristine - white and clean even on the sidewalks,! In my city, streets and sidewalks get so muddy, dirty and with trash. Thanks Kuga-san for another beautiful peaceful view of this village ( noted to visit).
@@ej3016 I'm near London Ontario, and I've yet to see someone using umbrella's during snow around here. That said, I'll be looking for it now as it seems like a good idea.
@@Infrared73 hello - I’m on the edge of the university (UWO) - mended blended neighbourhood - also sorts of umbrellas all year long - mine is always in my backpack (waiting for buses 😳🥴) but past couple of years I’ve brought it out as I said to keep my mask dry when it’s snowing 😷🤗 keep safe & stay well - and enjoy your Japanese day dreams 😃😉
this is what i expected to see last Jan 2020, 2 months before the world is shutdown by covid. there was no snow in shira at that time, so it only means i need to visit it again soon when everything is back to normal. stay safe and healthy, Kuga so u can give us more scenic views in Japan! Thank you! 🇵🇭
Thank you for the beautiful tour. It's a beautiful location and the snows everywhere sometimes higher than you are. But I'm surprised you didn't turn into a snowman. LOL I hope you stayed warm.
Thank you for your videos, especially this one. We can't wait to return to Japan. Until we do return, we've been using your travel videos to compile our list of places to visit and journeys to take. This village is now - definitely - on the list.
Thank you for getting back my memories of Japan’s marvellous landscape. I used to travel Japan every year until 2019. After the combination of social movement and pandemic, that’s makes me miss Japan so much.
I remember visiting in February 2020, just before the pandemic started to spread a lot. It was a really gorgeous day, with some sunny times and some snow as well, but I can remember very distinctly how slippery the roads were from all of the people walking compacting the snow into ice, and having to walk very carefully to avoid falling. It was a lot more crowded that day than now, probably because there are fewer tourists these days. The road up to the vantage point above the town was quite a slow trek but worth it, as seeing all the houses in the valley, with the snow covered mountains on both sides, really was quite amazing.
I went there on January 2020. It was sunny and no snow at all. I was slightly disappointed bcuz I went there specifically to see the snow, as advertised by the travel agency. :') Despite that, the village is very interesting for its historical value. I recommend going there.
A very nice video, a winter wonderland... of purity! There is so much snow on the ground this almost appears to be a black and white video. Just look at the snow caps on top of these structures! So huge! 2:43 mark. A person living in a tropical climate can only look at this video and dream..... what is this really like? If you live in a place where it's 90F everyday....to be here just for a day! Would be an experience of a lifetime!
What a beautiful place! Thank you for showing it to us. For some reason, I particularly like the contrast of the traditional buildings with the modern snow-removal equipment scattered around everywhere. It shows that heritage site or no, these folks take their snow seriously. :)
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am in America Pennsylvania Pa, I am not feeling well so watch this and wanted let you know how peaceful this was and help me feel calm..thanks for doing these videos, I appricate your time.
Just happened upon this video in my recommended list. I really enjoyed watching it and loved the area that you were waking through in the snow. Going to check out more of your videos.
Great to see Shirakawa-go in snow again. I went there two years ago and there was no snow at all. My first visit had much more snow like now. I guess the walk up to the lookout was closed from the snow? It's a real shame that the museum was closed. Last time, we discovered a place where you went into the basement of a house and you could eat curry and red beans by an irori. It was great!
You make me wish more and more to visit these calm and peaceful places in Japan- there might be no chance for me, but there are your videos… and I shall travel on with you . Thank you so much!
This is a perfect ASMR video, love that the piano is gently in the background slow playing and you kept the wind noise and all others. Such a relief of anxiety ❤
What a beautiful village! Thank you for making videos of places you get to walk around in. I would love to see what this place looks like in the summer as well. If you decide to go back in the summer, please make a video of your visit. Thank you gain!
When I visited Shirakawa-go in November this year, it was 2 degrees celcius no snow yet but it was freezingly cold to me. I also went into shops to get myself warm and bought some really nice souvenirs and snacks. I felt it must be incredibly beautiful in winter and to view the entire village from the observatory deck point at nights…I climbed up there and took some very beautiful pictures. I love this village so much and thinking I could stay here for a month during spring season….💙💙 Thank you for this video. Stay warm.

And that is the wonder of technology. Ya can't enjoy this with the 'good old days' mindset.
Maybe try look at bird bath, from Jamaica 🇯🇲, warm and sunny 🌞
So beautiful and peaceful. It must feel so wonderful to be there.
I know, right? Where I am in northern New England, a place like that would be overrun with drunken tourists on snowmobiles.
Jamaica 🇯🇲 birds, look at bird bath
Astonishingly beautiful and peaceful.
That's beautiful. No wonder the buses are there! Snow, ice and running water - fantastic.
Beautiful quiet and peaceful I've never seen that much snow in my entire life
I love the crunch of fresh snow.
It's fascinating to see how villages that are regularly exposed to such weather conditions have adapted! Beautiful!
That has now piqued my interest, I will definitely read more into it! Thank you for this video!
So beautiful, the awesome quiet of falling snow. I'm chilly just watching.
Brave Kuga! Thanks for sharing this. I turned on my desk heater and made a cup of tea after this!
Thanks for taking me with you on this wonderful journey! 😁 Really appreciate the time and effort you made! Thank you! 😁
Oh thank you soooo much! It’s so peaceful and beautiful!
Beautiful Village . Breathtaking Beauty Especially During Winter Season, Snowfall. You must Freezing Capturing Heavy snowfall. 🙏
You have a beautiful homeland.
That really was quite magical! Thank-you, Kuga. =)
What a beautiful place! In a quiet place there's no more peaceful sound than the snow falling.
Love it when landscapes are covered with lots of snow and when snow is crunching under the shoes... 🙂
Thank you for this trip!

Loved the powder ski vid! Kuga is a skier!
This snowy, crunch stream is wonderful, thank you,
Very beautiful village! Thank you for sharing. Take care💗
Simply beautiful, the sound of snow under the feet, memorys... we did not have that in western Germany many many years, i miss it!❤
Oh my God!! I wish I were there... I miss snow and this village is absolutely breathtaking!!!!
So lovely Kuga, thank you for sharing with us subs & viewers :)
one of the spots i've always wanted to visit. it is beautful there! arigato for taking us there.
This was beautiful. I live in the Canadian Rockies and I don't think I have ever seen anyone use an umbrella in the snow. Thank you for sharing. ♥

Heh, I had that thought too. Here in Maine, it's usually too windy for an umbrella when it's snowing that hard. :)

Thanks for showing us the beautiful Japanese countryside in snow. I love the Japanese social responsibility, no trash can, you take the trash home.
So very peaceful and calm. Even the snow beneath your feet is quiet. Truly lovely. Thank you for sharing this place.
It's snowing here in Mystic, Connecticut USA ❤️ 🌨️❄️❄️❄️
Thank you so much for taking us with on your day trip. 🙂 What beautiful village, snow covered. It was such a great adventure!!👍🏻🎈👋🏻😄

So picturesque! My travel bucket list is growing steadily.
Thank you for sharing your beautyfull country with us. This is a stunning vidéo of a stunning village !
I visited Shirakawa-go several years ago in the summer. It looks so different all covered in snow, but still lovely. Can't wait to go back to Japan

As a person who spent the rest of my life at tropical country, for once, i really want to see and feel snow. its so peacefull. Nice video.
I was there before! Beautiful village in spring too! I miss Japan and can't wait till they reopen travel.

Such a magic place. I hope to visit Japan one day; probably one of my oldest desires.
Or Jamaica 🇯🇲, look at bird bath
Forever a beautiful place - Shirakawa-go specially during winter.
Absolutely beautiful. I would love to see the village in other seasons as well.
Alice, look at bird bath from Jamaica 🇯🇲
There's nothing more cozy than a walk through the historical Shirakawa-go in winter 😍
So peaceful. Love the water sounds and how the snow hits the camera sound.
Awow how magical , absolutely beautiful, love the snow, thank you Kuga for taking us on the beautiful walk ❤❤
The sights and sounds bring up childhood memories for me, even if I was born and raised half a world away in the mountains of Tyrol.

Ooooh, another open air museum! I haven’t been to this one. We’ve been to the one in Sapporo and the one in Takayama. Looks pretty.
