Hi! We have 9 days (7 full days if you exclude arrival and departure days), if we wanna do the same itinerary, where would you recommend us to stay? Gero or Takayama? or you have a different suggestion? I'd appreciate your insight
You can do an overnight in Gero, but definitely spend the bulk of your time in Takayama. Takayama is also a good base if you want to do day trips to Shirakawago, Shinhotaka Ropeway, Toyama, etc.
Shirakawago n Shin Hotaka Ropeway are beautiful but I think SHR offers more. It would have snow in march. The bus ride up the mountains n the gorgeous changing scenery, cable car ride, snow experience n majestic view of the Japanese alps up there. Do start off early as its a longer but scenic ride to SHR . Toyama , 90mins away is also worth exploring. The city library n the glass museum inside, Starbucks, Amaharashi coast offers serene n beautiful sights.
@@ji1511 we are originally planning to stay at takayama then explore shin hotaka but circumstances changed, we now will explore gozaisho ropeway that also has a ski resort open till mid march
When I visited Gero, I stayed at the same place in 02:14. Name of the place is Toraya. Got a really good rate in Agoda. Nice, clean ryokan with onsen. Staff can also speak English. About a 10 minute walk from the train station.
Not sure about the other places in this video. But you can check out good deals in Agoda. There are also loads of ryokans near Shinhotaka Ropeway. Most of them look decent. Enjoy!
Hi may I ask the bus ticket 6.300 Yen is round trip from takayama - Shinhotaka - Takayama again right? And can we buy for tomorrow tickets for another trip to Shiragawago? Or must buy on the same day of departure? Thanks.

We are going to Shirakawago on March 10, is there still a snow there?
There might still be some snow in early March, but not as much as January or February.
