Liberace wasn't in IGAS in the 1950's. He was on it twice: 4/5/61 and 3/12/62. This appears to be the later show. There's a longer version from Buzzr that has Wilt Chamberlain on it and per IMDB< that's the 1962 episode.

Both Bess and Betsy were well adapted at playing the piano!

In an interview Bess Myerson's daughter said that her mother entered the Miss America Pageant to win scholarship money to continue her classical piano studies. I couldn't find anything in Betsy Palmer's Wiki bio about piano, although she appeared in Broadway musicals so she must have been able to sing.

@@Ritty109 Her piano playing form shows that she's had proper classical training. Also, she made reference to "Cliburn." That's Van Cliburn the pianist.

What a wonderful episode! Liberace was certainly a fine showman. (This was before I was even born. And I'm ancient!)

the video description is so weird, the uploader is on some bizarre crusade to "prove" Liberace was straight.... LMFAO.

“he testified under oath that he wasn't gay” well duh no shit he would've lied about his sexuality when coming out would've destroyed his career. OP is weird

What is with the white hair on Liberace? Weird.

Liberace talked about it in one of his books -- in the 50s, he purposely had his hair touched up with a little gray on the sides to look "distinquished". Then he decided that "more" was better, and had his hair colored totally gray. Then it occurred to him that he look like an "old man", and went to "dark" ever since. Also, he wore a wig until his death.

This was filmed in 1962 & Liberace's hair was naturally greying & his hairline was receding. He later wore faux hairpieces & dyed his natural hair to conceal his ageing.

@@clarkgable4113 Liberace was once a guest panalist on What's my LIne, and his hair was white in that episode. Liberace was trying out the gray hair as a "look", but he didn't keep it that long.

He should never have said "20 thumbs," that was an insult. Bess Myerson was an accomplished pianist herself, who played Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto at Carnegie Hall.
