Mind boggling selection of trees and species! A great place for bonsai inspiration plus workout perspiration from all the walking. And a CAFÉ ☕️🥐☕️! Pretty fantastic💥🌿💥 Thank you.
Nigel, This is definitely a HUGE nursery. Reminds me of the greenhouse/plant section of our local Home Depot or Lowe's. Enjoyed accompanying you guys on this visit.
Wow! That place is amazing! First time I've seen you show prices a bit closer to the prices I find where I am! Now I want a ginko.... Want want want Hahaha!! JAAaaaAAAaaAAAAAYYYyyy!!!! Nice to see you looking well!
I just grabbed a Acer palmatum Murasaki Kiyohime and it's a pretty awesome variety for bonsai, now they are extremely slow growers but the spring and fall show is just WOW
If you ever see a Japanese maple with keys on a public street I’d recommend collecting a bunch and stratifying them just like sugar maples. I got several different leaf colors and shapes off of one tree. I would guess there are lots of possibilities because of cultivation for leaf appearance. In any case, it’s much cheaper 😉
Beautiful greenhouse. I wonder if one of that size could fit your tropical collection :) The maples, ginkgos, etc. they have looked great but I'm always surprised by the high prices of the trees you have there... It's rare that you don't go home with a few new trees, but I hope the coffee was good!
I have not had any success air layering Japanese and Amur maples (easy for some) 0/6 but i have had success air layering Ginkgos. I am 4/5 in air layers for my Ginkgos. I even had one layer that did not form roots over winter but formed a circular callous. I planted it in the spring and it rooted in the soil.
Gotta be careful with Japanese Maples, they can be a real rabbit hole to go down with all the recognised varieties available, but they don't really get used for bonsai. Many people start with just one or two, and end up with a garden full of them. I've only got a deshojo, a butterfly, and a couple of going green's, along with a palmatum, a field maple and a couple of trident seedlings growing on for bonsai.

This nursery has a better japanese maple selection than most!
Nigel, shin deshojo is a cultivar from the original deshojo maple. Supposed to be more hardy than the regular deshojo. I have a few of each
"Shin" in this case probably just means "new".
It's a bucida spinosa or dwarf black olive. Love them make a very nice bonsai. Wish I could get a hold of 1

“What an amazing greenhouse” yeah Nigel, when are you going to put op your own large greenhouse?
I wish!
Shindeshjo is an improve version of deshojo more resistant to pest. Deshojos in spring are red in the summer turn to green in the fall turn orange.
Shin is the smaller cultivar if I am not mistaken.

Awesome news Derrick! thanks! 🐦💙
I have a failed gingko air layer this year too but I wouldn't exclude user error.
Good morning 🪴from 🇮🇳 India
Nigel one thing I'm trying to grow maple from seed several times but I'm not being successful.
It's practically a forest.
Would've stayed there. 😂
LoL, Jay’s brain is telling him “Conner” and my brain said “Cannon” when I read the video title.
Is this the one on HWY 9? I've been meaning to stop in there.
Yes Kale, it's the one in Newmarket/King!
Very nice nursery but a little pricey 😂
