I used to watch you and Peter very often a couple years back. I just started watching again and it’s mind blowing seeing all of your bonsai back to back. I remember you having a bunch but this is a ton! I’m looking to get a bonsai soonish so brushing up with you guys :)
I just watched your meeting with Nigel Saunders. Delightful! As usual Mr Chan (the elder) speaks a lot and Mr Saunders is more hesitant. However, the meeting of these two very different persons concentrating on a shared interest was quite rewarding.
I love Peter Chan so much. He absolutely brings a smile to my face. It is wonderful to see these two bonsai giants together. These men got me through the pandemic and onto my own bonsai journey. I will forever be grateful.
How wonderful! The awe of Peter about Nigel’s trees is so amazing. Even about the rather unusual species regarded not as suitable for bonsai. It only shows with some dedication, everything can be turned into bonsai. What an epic meet! Nigel should visit Herons in the UK someday.
Yes, what struck me was the acer campestre. In the Uk it is often used as hedging and I don't think many people view it as a wonderful tree in it's own right. I do love acer campestre, I think the leaves look beautiful.
@@Stettafire yeah I have a group planting of the field maple as well, dug some up that grew curved next to each other, they are very vigorous and common here, but the leaves are pretty, much more than the sycamore that is also very common here in the Netherlands.
One of the best takeaways is at 37:05. Nigel hits the nail on the head- when people are frustrated that they only get 200 RUclips views- imagine speaking to 200 people in an auditorium. This may be my favorite Nigel and Peter video yet.
I knew i'd find you in the comments here! it really is special to see them both on such good form. It's like when 2 friends of yours meet and hit it off!
It’s really wonderful to see you guys (legends of bonsai) to-gather in a video! Best wish to both of you, and keep posting the wonderful works. Thanks.
I love Canada - I have relatives there - 3 sisters. I have been visiting Canada since 2003 but never tell bonsai folk that I am there as I like to keep my private family life separate from bonsai but on this visit and because of RUclips, I felt I had to tell the Bonsai community that I was coming to Toronto . I enjoy my visit thoroughly . 😄
I did not realise how much of a legend Peter was untill I watched this episode. Been following both Peter and Nigel for years on youtube. How wonderful to see them togeather!
It gave me the same feeling as working and growing my Bonsai - awesome see the 2 that I always watch and Learn from get together. Shawn from South Africa what a great moment.
Just received my copy of "Bonsai Masterclass" here in Germay. Big surprise: Handwritten wishes on the first page! :-) Thank you so much, a beautiful book! Thank you for your inspirational work here on RUclips! I enjoy it nearly every evening. So much videos to watch! All the best from Germany, Peter!
I thought I would never finish watching a 42 min video but I was so overjoyed at the interactions and stories both of you presented I watched the whole video in one shot!!!!
Oh how I enjoyed this video... A meeting of two Titans. So warm, so friendly, so much mutual understanding... I don't even think a single word had to be spoken. You can feel that mutual understanding, through the language of the eyes, which is the language of the soul. A big THANK YOU for this video.
Absolute great video when two Master meet it was a pleasure watching, the knowledge you two giants of the bonsai world share to the us is inspirational thank-you to both of you 🌳
So nice to see Peter Chan in North America! I tried to learn how to prune a bonsai from Nigel but it seems that when he says he is going to prune it always turns out to be a defoliation!
I wouldn't dare calling my mini trees 'bonsai'. I started fairly late in life with a hazel grown from seed and I mainly collect seedlings from the wild. Some trees I have grown from seed and a few by airlayering. I have learned a lot(and still learning ) from both gentlemen. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Nigel was my introduction for indoor and outdoor Bonsai in a Northern climate. Peter's RUclips was for refining what I have grown. Awesome to see the two together and sharing. Thank you both!
There have been some great Bonsai Masters in History...but for us Millennials...u 2 are of the greatest Bonsai Masters...thanks for helping us find passion as well as peace in this art.
5:35 In tropical climate, we only need maybe 3-4 years to get same growth in Ficus Religiosa as Nigel needed 30 years to achieve. I always look at these deciduous trees. Pines and maples and always regret because we cannot grow those in tropics. But somehow it made me very impressed how we can grow something that are native to our land in almost 1/10th the time spent and get similar if not even better results.
What an honor, for both of you! How exciting it must’ve been! That really is a very good-looking mixed conifer forest, the one Peter admired so much. Excellent. I can’t help but agree with him when he said that he can’t think that small. I imagine all my trees being 3+ft. I want to sit in the shade of some of them.
Peter, thanks for featuring my favourite Canadian bonsai artist. You two had such fun…signing his books was positively emotional. From middle of BC. Canada.
Not sure how to comment on this video it is so special to see both talking about something you love from so different backgrounds and different continents with just the same passion for your subject bonsai. Thank you both for the honour of allowing us to eves drop on conversations.
Nigel, what a " Joy " to hear Peter show you such respect , respect you rightly deserve... and he has brought to my mind the fact that maybe its time for you to put all your knowledge & skill to print in your 1st Book !!! ...kind regards from England .
Seeing Peter excited and surprised at certain plants has hit home just how unique lot of your bonsai really are, Nige! It's videos like these that help me mourn for my lost plants to the british heatwave faster and persevere with my surviving plants! Keep up the good work both of you! - Ashley Bonner
The two main people that inspired me to get into bonsai in one video! Fantastic!! There is no much nuance in there and so much to learn, how can that be when there is no bonsai work on show! So here I go and look at that nebari!
Thank you so much for visiting Peter, it was a delight meeting you!!!!!

Great to see thank you both for sharing
Hi. Could you please write me the author and title of the other Bonsaibook beside Bonsai Masterclass ?
@@h.o.o.d.berlin It is Simon & Schuster's Guide to Bonsai.
I just watched your meeting with Nigel Saunders. Delightful! As usual Mr Chan (the elder) speaks a lot and Mr Saunders is more hesitant. However, the meeting of these two very different persons concentrating on a shared interest was quite rewarding.
Peter is like a kid in a sweet shop 😂
Spot on 😅
Yes, I had the same thought!
yeas XD
I love Peter Chan so much. He absolutely brings a smile to my face. It is wonderful to see these two bonsai giants together. These men got me through the pandemic and onto my own bonsai journey. I will forever be grateful.
2 of the communities most 'love them or hate them' people come together. What a crossover event.
Love these two guys. Down to earth, making bonsai accessible to everyone. As it should be.
Hearing Peter screeching WOOWOOO did put a smile on on my face
what an honor it would be to have Peter visit. Good job Nigel, you must be so proud.
This has got to be my most favorite episode! Watching two icons get together was awesome! Nigel looked so thrilled
How wonderful! The awe of Peter about Nigel’s trees is so amazing. Even about the rather unusual species regarded not as suitable for bonsai. It only shows with some dedication, everything can be turned into bonsai. What an epic meet! Nigel should visit Herons in the UK someday.

I wouldn't say 2 worlds.. More like 2 galaxies.. Really great watching two stalwarts interact.. So much to learn!! Thanks a lot to both of you 😊
Wow what an amazing show!! Thanks so much for putting this epic collaboration together!!
I got my inspiration for bonsai from Nigel and I was so happy to see him in person after five years.
The 2 most iconic people in the bonsai world! I was so excited for this video. Thank you Peter, thank you Nigel!!!
