- BrakTooth is a family of vulnerabilities that impacts specific implementations of the bluetooth stack on embedded devices. It has been demonstrated to cause firmware crashes and deadlocks as well as successful Arbitrary Code Execution (ACE) but often results in Denial of Service (DoS) when executed against Bluetooth audio peripherals.
The BrakTooth Proof of Concept (PoC) Code was released by the ASSET Research Group and can be found along with the documentation here:

Can a Bluetooth chip be physically removed from certain speakers?
Most likely, just rewire the speakers to use an audio jack with a separate board instead of the bluetooth controller

Knock on their door and ask them tl turn it down or call the cops on them. Those are pretty much all the legal alternatives that exist.

Yesterday I was playing my bose bt speaker and all of a sudden I hear a phone ringing. I look at my phone and it's not mine. The call goes straight to voice-mail. I shut the radio off thinking someone's phone got connected to my speaker.
Well later on last night, I fell asleep on the couch and woke up with the TV and Soundbar still on. I get ready to go upstairs so I shut the television off and all of a sudden I hear the same phone ringing now in my soundbar. Again not my phone, and again straight to a voice-mail. Can't be a coincidence. Now I don't trust any of my neighbors and want to throw away all my electronics and buy new ones. 🤦🏽♂️
That's scary AF. One night I woke up at 3am and my TV had just turned itself on and started to "update". I dont even watch tv, it's there just as decoration, so I unplugged it from the wall permanently.
It's strange that you can disable the Bluetooth because your music is too loud. What about people that play their music because of very noisy neighbors living over you. They have the power to disable my music therefore I have to take the abuse?

Pretty sure it doesnt matter if its android or iPhone. If anything iphone is way more restricted than android which means you can do way more on android than iphone. If you're talking about android instead of linux then uh well that aint possible bc that requires a pc operating system and not a mobile phone one. Which means you need a computer to do it and its not possible on a phone. Im a software engineer and studied in different fields of IT so not only software developing so i know a lot about this.

In theory, but the esp32 nerfed/obscured or left undocumented some of the features you may need. Possibly someone has hacked them by now.

How would you just happen to find the Mac address of some random device? Seems unlikely to just get that from the blue.

you wouldn't really, bluetooth is only discoverable when its looking for a device so you'd have to be lucky to find it in that discoverability window when pairing, once paired/connected the device is no longer broadcasting its mac address
