That's so interesting. I think I'd love the Magic Clothes version from what you describe, but I'm reluctant to buy it because I already have a regular one and it's good but not my main - exactly because it's too much friction for me, and too strong magnets.
When you talk about the smooth turning feel it kinda makes me think of the tornado v3. I made a comparison video on both ys3m and tornado, I only own these two cubes and the tornado v3 feels crazy smooth as if it has no friction. But I end up using the regular ys3m ball core more because as you mentioned it has more friction and makes me feel like I have more control.

I have the YS3M ball core but I like it so much I am waiting for the YS3M Magic Cloth UV. I find my YS3M much better than my TornadoV3 flagship and Moyu Wrm 2021 maglev (with custom magnets) and it's a big step up from my rs3m super magnetic..
Have you tried to put the coated prices on uncoated core? Just to try avoid any weird setup issues. Since other than the coating they're meant to be the same..
I haven't tried that, but I can kind of feel that the different feel is coming from the pieces rubbing against each other and not the core so I don't think it's a core issue
I tried a lot of setups for my ys. Like, a lot a lot. Modded it and everything. I was planning to get a gan, but knew that it wouldnt give me the performance i need. Even the tornado doesnt. The ys3m is controllable, stable, and very forgiving. And it is also smooth with a slight fricktion, as u said, which i love. Am wondering whether to get the magic clothes as a backup or straight up main. Ill likely swap springs in anyways so speed is not an issue.

I prefer the YS3M over the tornado v3, but it's mostly a preference thing. I'd say I main the uncoated YS3M ball-core.

so is it the same as the pvc coting that speed cube shop?
PVC coating is grippier, whereas the magic cloth is more like an extra-glossy finish that doesn't affect grip
