I respect rangers I hope you win the europa league because tomorrow is going to be hard not just for us but also for you good luck your celtic fan Barry bhoy
I'm not a Celtic supporter, but I have to say this is one of the best football documentaries I have ever seen. Incredibly powerful and emotional. The achievement of that team was phenomenal. A wonderful tribute to a great team and a great manager.
Brilliant documentary of possibly the greatest football story ever told. A bunch of urchins from the streets of one of the world's toughest cities brought together by a former miner and winning club football's biggest prize? So many heroes and heroic background stories. And the fans who made the final by hook or by crook - what an adventure in the days when foreign travel was still so exotic and rare. I felt very melancholy after it finished. The world (and football) has moved on so much since 1967 but is everything better? People certainly aren't.
I agree - this was a unique time. There was a special Esprit de Corps with this team and Jock Stein. I wept all the way realising that that this a really happy time despite the reality of daily hardship that faced Glaswegians. There was such a can do attitude and community spirit tgat we'll never see again, but I'm proud and glad that I experienced it.
I met John Clarke and his wife in Hamilton last year 2022 and he told me the story about his dad after we had a long gab. What a wonderful ambassador for Celtic. Glad I got to meet him with my little boy and wife x I like the comment at the end, not just a victory for Celtic but for Glasgow. I like that ❤
I'm a Stoke City fan...yeah ok..I know!! 🤣 this team was quality, back when football WAS football! I despise the BBC but this has got to be the best programme they have ever done. Best wishes everyone👍🏻
I'm a Rangers fan, however, how nice it was to see the players embrace so affectionately after Celtic secured the 1967 league title at our home Ibrox Park in 1967, a lesson for players today. Celtic were truly magnificent, how can you not admire & applaud such a fine team?
Seen this before, but greetin again, its so emotional, fantastic to watch. I was 8 back in 67 when Celtic won, Fantastic team and Manager. We will never see their likes again. Hail hail.💚💚💚
This was so brilliant to watch and so emotional as it reminds me of my late father Jim. I was 4 years of age in 1967 and my father was a Celtic fanatic. He loved that team and travelled often on the ferry from N.Ireland to Scotland to watch the matches at Parkhead. He died in 2005 and was still a Celtic supporter right to the very end of his life. He left me his Celtic Supporters Scarf which he bought in a shop in Glasgow in the Spring of 1966. It still looks great today as he took great care of it. Glasgow Celtic Football Club made my father a happy man when they won the European Cup.
That'll never been seen again, all local players winning the biggest prize in football. What a fantastic documentary, Respect to the Lions from an Anfield ticket holder 💚❤💚❤ YNWA
I was 7 when Celtic made history. I remember my Dad,my brother and two sisters went mental jumping up and down they nearly broke the sofa jumping on it and we lived in Belfast great memories. Hail Hail Bhoys and Ghirls ☘️💚☘️💚.
I’m a lifelong Celtic fan although 1967 was long before my time. I visited the stadium last month on holiday and I had to pinch myself. It’s hard to explain how one can feel emotional about something that wasn’t even in one’s own lifetime, but what an achievement, great documentary.
I was born in Glasgow, but my family had moved to England when this game was played. I was 13 years old in '67, the next day at school every one who knew me congratulated me on the win, as if I played in the game. Real football supporters are a pleasure to meet.
No English team could or may never achieve it with all native 11 let alone the locality........? The one I can never get enough of is to prove how native the side was, is you could go to any library and borrow a book that documented the Tartans that belonged to each & every name in that squad, all of them Clans!!! My dad pointed this out to me when I was 10 yo back in our centenary season -All Scottish, all within 30 miles & all of them historic Scottish Surnames....& since then, I’ve never really heard this being spoke of?
Tony H correct Tony,..it was another first!..it was a new trophy commissioned by UEFA for that season and onwards for the European Club Champions - to see that golden UEFA badge glint and shine in the Lisbon sky when Big Billy holds it aloft is such an iconic moment..brilliant sporting achievement, brilliant football team! ..in the heat of Lisbon!
@@kevinroberts4301 Arguably the most iconic trophy in football, as the World Cup isn't quite as distinctive or unique and the first player ever to lift it was a lad from Bellshill. Amazing.
56 years today, the legend lives on🏆 The heroes of Lisbon will never be forgotten and the achievement will never be surpassed,The day eleven local bhoys became lions and conquered Europe🦁 💚CHAMPIONS 67💚🍀
to hear wee 10- 30 Bertie, talking about the Celtic fans paying tribute to 67 its amazing and sad that he could not see the tribute paid to him by the same supporters at the semi final cup win on the week he died
This brought tears to my eyes, when Scottish football was on the top of the world. Many many truly world class players north of the border, who would be multi millionaires in today's climate. Jimmy Johnstone was the jewel in the crown and every bit as talented "if not more so" than Best.
This has to go down as the greatest achievement by a British club. 10 players born within the boundaries of one city, Glasgow and Bobby Lennox from Ayrshire. I love the story of the Lisbon Lions, I’m from Manchester and a season ticket holder at MCFC for nearly 50 years. My late mother played football in the same national stadium in Lisbon 10 years earlier in May 1957 for the Manchester Corinthians, the pictures I have, the stadium was the same in 1967. RIP yo all the lions who’ve now passed, especially Billy McNeil, who briefly managed my club in the mid 1980’s, still respected hugely in Manchester.
I found this really emotional. I used to be Celtic daft when I was kid. I was just under 5 when they won this but I hero worshipped this team and Jock Stein a few years later as I grew up with them. This video was a lovely memory of the past and of my own history of being brought up in Govan. It reminded me of so many things I had forgotten and where I had came from and the sheer joyful spirit of Glaswegians back in those days. I loved those guys in the Celtic team and will never forget meeting Bertie Auld when he came to visit my local football team and presented me with a trophy. He was such a lovely character.
The Lisbon lions were one of the great European teams, of any era because of the the quality of attacking football they played ,as a young English boy, we new they were a team who would have done pretty well, had they have played in England, but we had no idea they were as good as that, we're it not for the brilliance of the Italian keeper Sarti the would have won by six, they totally outclassed what was supposed to be another of the great European sides and tore the much vaunted Italian cattenacio defensive system to shreds, only the great early Real Madrid sides might have lived with them that night, it was a victory for beauty over the beast and heralded the beginning of total football, which was wrongly accredited to have been started by the wonderful Dutch teams of the seventies , Jock Stein and Glasgow Celtic got their first,, just look at the equalising goal, right back casually rolls the ball to left back who smashes the ball into the net, this was unheard of at the time.
A brilliant documentary for a truly great side Celtic. In all honesty Inter Milan were very fortunate because the 2-1 scoreline does not reflect the dominance of Celtic in this match.
It is a shame that the greatest tribute given was in Lisbon by the only English Club Manager to be there, and that was Bill Shankly and he said o Jock Stein "John, you're immortal now"
Goosebumps watching this. What a team they were. The bhoys of today are only 6 goals off the pace in first 6 games 20 goals scored could be a omen beat dortmund on tuesday the dream is on wee could be taking a road trip like our comrades back in the day. Hail Hail fellow tims and god bless the lisbon lions and rip the ones who are no longer with us 💚
Great documentary! In those days the team would have far healhtier food and real nutrition compared to the toxic crap called food now. The manager was a genius and instilled self belief and a cocky confidence in very talented players who grew and grew in confidence. This was THE GREATEST achivement in football history from any team ever given this one fact, they were all home grown talent from within 30 miles of Paradise!!! I was a young kid and even on the black and white TV is was immense beyond words. Our hoose jumped wi utter joy at the final goal and whistle - that was doon in Gallowa. Some brothers were Man Utd fans but I wsa not and my Irish uncle was ecstatic! Bringing Jock Stein back was a masterpiece chess move, helping to burst the sectarian bubble of sectarianism. Total legends. Bertie was so so special as a wit and singer. Their key to sucess was 10 players could score not just one or two! AMAZING TEAM never to be rivalled.
I am a massive Celtic fan and loved this documentary. However, I should point out that there is an error made by the narrator at the end. They wrongly claim that no team before or since have won it with 11 homegrown players, which is false. Benfica won it in 1961 and 1962 with xi Portugese players. Real Madrid won it in 1966 with XI Spaniards. Steaua București won it in 1986 with XI Romanians.
