    For anyone who doesn't play - the absolutely impressive thing here isn't just the technical ability to hit all the correct notes and at such speed, but rather the musicality is phenomenal. The dynamics, the phrasing, and voicing is superb even listening through a RUclips video. I was immediately impressed upon the very first descending chromatic run, where near the end, you can hear the clear emphasis on the upper chromatic voice while keeping the thumb very gentle to provide the subtle bass backdrop. Just so impressive all around.

      You can develop the skills if you focus on learning how to do it with the less possible effort. This is the most difficult task in any instrument. There is a struggle between what you think it works and what actually works. Focusing on the latter is what makes the process easier.
      Now, musicality is a different topic. Having the skills doesn’t make you musical and it happens a lot. Constructing a musical idea and preparing to perform in front of an audience are the reasons why you practice many hours

      @@KaspbrackEddie You can create different sounds by approaching notes a certain way, i.e. hit the note fast and direct, stroke it, use your wrist to move into or out of the note at a certain speed as you play, etc. The way you decide to approach the key gives a distinct sound that can lend itself to expressing a certain emotion. Your choice of how to approach the key is guided by the feelings you want the piece to convey. Professional pianists often practice a million different ways to strike a note, which increases their "color palette" and can help them bring more artistry to their pieces. Coloring also often involves dynamics; the larger the range of dynamics a pianist is capable of producing, the wider their color palette. This pianist creates a "big picture" idea with his amazing crescendos and diminuendos, such a wide range of volume and seamless gradual changes from loud to soft and soft to loud. Also, things like tone and coloring are often the first things to go when a piece is very technical. This pianist doesn't let the difficult technique overshadow the phrasing and artistic intent of the piece.

      Audiofiles want the CD (or any non-MP3 hi-res file format) for the higher audio quality, which can be ripped to uncompressed flac. See hayatosum.theshop.jp/items/26744304

    From someone who can play this piece but not as well as this guy by some margin, it IS easier than it sounds, but then it sounds really hard, so it's only as easy as really hard stuff that isn't as hard as it sounds but is still really hard... It's easyish to play short bits but to keep that speed up for 3 minutes changes everythjng, it melts your hands and your mind equally, especially towards the end. Or maybe just mine cos I'm not that good. More to the point, this guy really gets the feeling of the piece perfectly which is much more important, it's a stellar performance.

    I can't believe he played all this with his hair basically covering his entire view lmao, really impressive cover, I'm envious of your ability to work that hard for a piece, your piano-playing is stunning. Thanks for sharing this!

      Once you learn the keys well enough you can play blindfolded.

    • @Simon-xl1yz
      @Simon-xl1yz 4 года назад +14

      I know, as soon as it becomes muscle memory, although I wouldn’t say you can play completely blindfolded, or well, I can’t play perfectly accurate and blindfolded at least.

      @@Simon-xl1yz Eh, I know it's not quite the same thing, but I've been typing 30+ years and I can do that with near-total accuracy (unless I'm really tired) without taking my eyes off the screen.

      Fuchsia 'tude Uhm.. typing and playing piano are two very different things, like you said. Typing accurately without looking is quite a common skill. I can also type without looking accurately easily.

      @@omegarodent765 No, I don't think that is really comparable. He's not playing two separate songs on each hand, and honestly the left hand melody is fairly simple in this etude. But I do type most words with both hands, and often alternate hands letter-by-letter within the same word
