      This is EXACTLY why I created this tutorial in this way! There are other ways a user can approach this, but I wanted something that was easily repeatable - that users could follow along with.
      Im glad to hear that this video helped!
      Thanks for watching, Cheers, M! 🍻

      @@marcushuyskensmusichi Marcus. It is possible to share these presets and import them in Kontakt on a different computer? Or do I have to do everything again from scratch on a different workstation?

    MY GUY!!! I had accidentally renamed the 2nd channel to whatever instrument I was using at the time....so instead of having "Kt. St. 2 [1]" & "Kt. st. 2 [2]" it was some other name. NOBODY knew how to fix this. THIS here did the trick! Many thanks.

    At long last, a clear and easy to understand explanation of how to get around the labyrinthine mystery of configuring multiple outputs in Kontakt. All of which begs the question: How did this arcane software become industry standard when so few of the customers understand it?

    After kontakt updated from 5 to 6, I was so upset because of disappearing of 16 output. I was so confused and annoyed by this, but you make me happy. Thank you so much!

    This video right here, should be the first thing you see on kontakt's webpage. And they should also email people with the video's link.
    "Thank you for buying kontakt, here's a quick guide on how to make it usable."
    I really dont understand why they don't just include 16/32 stereo output save files with the installation.
    Thank you so much for the video, I've been trying for quite a while to figure out how to do this since i updated my kontakt by mistake from 6.4 to 6.6.

    Better late than never.I got this Video on routing a few days after I had finished Scoring a feature Film.I had placed many Kontkt instances and wanted to reduce the count by routing the instruments from one Kontkt instance.I ended up freezing the Tracks to Audio for better DAW performance,but from now on after watching your Tutorial Marcus,I will work better on the next project.Thankyou so much my friend.

    This was driving me BATS! Thanks for straightening this out for me. NI should publish this method (or your sweet video) somewhere. I had to poke about to figure out how to set/use/save this employing Kontakt multi-instruments in a single plug-in instance. But I could never have gotten there without your seeing the need to publish this vid. Thanks, again!!

    Hi Marcus, im using cubase and kontakt 7. the setup has been a nightmare since I didn't realize that kontakt by itsself was only creating 4 stereo channels and all other channels were served in mono (using two seperate channels for instruments in stereo). the critical part for me was to save the current output section state as setup as default in all formats so that it creates the correct channels at the next startup. what a waste of time.... you should put a "buy me a coffee" in your description here - you'd certainly have earned this one. thank you!
    PS: oh god, even my saved output-section for getgood drums as multi out works properly now. thats a second and third coffee

    Well..at least for Abbey Road (all Drums decades), one key step may have been to be omitted. I followed every step in this tutorial. After you complete this tutorial you'll find out as with Abbey Road, the Kick, Snare, Toms all still route to St.1. If you have had the same experience, this is due to you have to click the Abbey Road Mixer and then assign the Kick to St.1, The Snare to St.2, Tom 1 to St.3 and so on. Then all will route to Studio One on their own channels.

    Great stuff Marcus, as always.
    I recently followed this video and got Kontakt running two instrumenta at a time.
    I hesitate to say 'Multis' because 'Multis' in NI have a particular meaning and I haven't delved into the rabbit Hole just yet.
    Encouraged by my success in following your tutorial I chanced my arm at creating a Mono multi-output array for Butch Vig Drums.
    Kinda sorta like Impact XT with multiple mixer channels.
    I failed ... I crashed Studio One several times while failing too ...
    Whether I failed by one vital step or if I got it all wrong I will endeavour to find out after a good long Sleep 😴💤💤

    • @KozmykJ
      @KozmykJ 2 года назад

      Haha my bad.
      Impact's separate outputs are all Stereo not Mono.
      I must have upset Studio one by asking it to make Kontakt Stereo outputs go into a mono channel ... Ooops !!
      I might have to go and read the Kontakt manual again ... 🙄

    • @KozmykJ
      @KozmykJ 2 года назад

      I got Butch Vig Drums to behave BUT Studio Drummer keeps spilling Reverb and FX onto the same St/1 channels as I've set the Kick.
      THOUGHTS - Shift all the channels over one to leave St.1 as the Master channel, followed by instrument channels in turn.
      OR
      Have another go at setting individual MONO channels for each Drum/Perc to allow Bypassing the internal mixer inside Kontakt …
      Reminds me of the bad old days of splicing mixing desks together …

    Thank you Marcus, this was VERY helpful. My next question would be.. Have you made a video regarding bouncing these multiple Kontakt tracks down to audio in S1? I have not found an efficient way to do it yet. If I just choose Transform to audio it will create a new track for each track times the number of total instruments. For instance, if I have 4 instruments in one Kontakt session, I will get 4x4 or 16 new tracks. Although only 1 of them, for each track has the actual audio, the other 12 would be blank. weird. OR if I turn OFF all tracks but 1 in the mix Instrument panel, I will indeed only get 1 new audio track when I transform BUT all the other tracks in that session have has their names removed on the mix channels. There has to be a better way. THANKS!

  • @shamcra

    Thank you so much Marcus! I used to encounter the problem, that when I had more than 6 outputs, I had to select every other output from output no. 7 to make it work.
    I did not understand the logic of it and there may not be any. Anyway, thanks a lot for this tip. It will reduce my frustration exponentially. :)
    BTW one more thing... Is there a way to automatically get the outputs connected to the corresponding MIDI channel within Kontakt?
    For example .. I load 8 instruments in a Kontakt set. In Kontakt, they automatically get a unique MIDI channel 1 - 8, but the same output st 1.
    There I have to manually connect the output to the correct MIDI channel.
    Then when I duplicate the tracks to 8 different Kontakt tracks in the track window I have to connect them to the right instrument channel
    AND in the inspection window connect the right instrument to the right output so that when I have packed them in a folder
    I can show/hide the channels even in the mixer window. Can all this be automated? Of course I can make a template for this, but sometimes you have to make changes.
    I understand that it's two different software, but it would be heaven if Kontakt created individual (duplicated) tracks in S1 (or any DAW) for each instrument you load into a Kontakt set, and with the right corresponding connections.
    Hope my question(s) wasn't too vaguely formulated.
    And again... thanks for all the tips & tricks you provide on your channel. You're my number one go-to-guy when it comes to Studio One.

  • @andreasfranzmann9634
    @andreasfranzmann9634 3 года назад

    Thank you Marcus, that's VERY helpful!
    Here's a video suggestion: I struggle when making 60s / 30s / 15s edits of my songs in Studio One. I don't see where S1 shows me the length of my chosen event, loop or arranger event. I switch back and forth checking the Loop length via the export dialogue then adjust the files or arranger lenght then check again in the export dialogue.... and so on until it's exact. Any suggestions to check your song length directly in the project without switching to the export dialogue or - even worse - switching in the time ruler? Pro Tools showed this directly in the transport bar, all S1 shows there the remaining possible recording time (8 days...) which is useless.
    Thank you man, you're an inspiration! Cheers, Andy
