Taiwanese Tai Chi Master Challenges Xu Xiaodong And Two Boxers

- In this very interesting examination of TCMA vs MMA, we have a Taiwanese self-proclaimed Tai Chi Master named Li Ming 李明 challenging MMA Mad Dog Panda Xu Xiaodong. And what's more: Yang Tai Chi Li Ming actually has footage of himself testing his Tai Chi (and Bagua too) against two different boxers in Taiwan. Let's bring in Rob and analyze how well this Tai Chi master does in the ring. Is there any efficacy in his boxing? Could he really take on Xu Xiaodong? Also, what do you think about Li's interesting approach to holding his hands in the ring.

I feel like challenging Xu has become a way for these self proclaimed "Masters" to earn some fame on their school / name. With the mindset of "any publicity is good publicity".
The so-called Tai Chi master had absolutely no footwork. This allowed the 2 boxers to set their punches eventually knocking down this so-called master. Because the so-called master also had a poor defence and his punches were not technically sound and so comparatively generated very little power, the boxers really had free reign to throw clean shots at will. You have to give the so-called master some credit though for sticking it out for 2 rounds against 2 different fighters who look much younger and have more boxing experience than himself but I think he was too old and unprepared for this type of sparring. In boxing this is called a mismatch. He should stick to what he does best (if he is indeed a tai chi master as claimed) and leave Xu Xiaodong to younger, hungrier and more suitable fighters.
@@kungpowchickenwing Where'd your video go? I just got around to seeing your comment.
Jerry it's better when you're alone in commenting a fights
A few months, he's old, he's slow and he's basically clueless on what he's about to undertake. He'll need
a complete rebirth into another life to be ready for his upcoming match.
Next life wont clear the head. Try a couple more, each with more KOs
delusional - the right word.
His stage name is The Human Punching Bag.
LOL
🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣 🤣 🤣
Bro don't judge me but if I had some white threads like that I'd challenge Xu too
The white threads are pretty epic!!
so.... go buy a white t shirt maybe? wtf
@@kungpowchickenwing true lol. I admit, I have a sleeveless gi shirt which I used for a dance performance xD but its actually a dope ass shirt in general. 10/10 if I'm ever in a planned fight I'm gonna wear it so I can focus my chi and win lol. I wore it to my muay tai gym and it was FRESH 😭🤣
Lmao
Really proud of the taiji guy going out there and fighting out of his comfort zone huge gloves hes never used in sure the weight was really difficult to deal with as well as just trying to use them with taiji skill i hope he continues to challenge himself and fighting different opponents no matter what to improve his skill
Yeah but he is supposed to be a master. This is another of the reason on why traditional martial artists aren't even decent anymore, imagine this guy teaching someone else on how to defend himself, and then that guy does the same... i don't like this
traditional martial arts is the biggest scam in combat sports history when it comes to self defense.
Xiaodong will literally stand there while this guy taps him a couple time, he'll shrug and walk to his corner lol. This dude will get destroyed.
Based on this Tai Chi master's performance against these two boxers in the ring, this Tai Chi master won't stand a chance.
It is a matter of how many seconds he can last when he fights against Xu Xiaodong.
The boxer's shove at 7:55 minutes in looked like more like Tai Chi than what the Tai Chi guy was doing
That wording is weird
You should say that push at 7:55 look more tail chi then what tail chi master been doing
@@dratuang2962 Tail Chi is my favorite martial art
@@dratuang2962 tail chai is my favourite martial arts, next to iron tail
these TMA ''Masters'' should invent a new martial art of their own called ''The Iron Face'' because that is what they all do. Get punched in the face, flailing their arms around and leaving their head wide open. Sad.
I have to give it to the old man, no fighting skills at all, yet he took all the punishment and still walked out of the ring on his feet.
I have 16 years of boxing and fighting on the streets. 6 years of grappling and 4 years of kick boxing. I chicken out of every fight until I have no choice. But people always interpret kindness for weakness.
Strong fighters dont say that they can fight. Ur mind is weak u cant even fight if chicken out is the reason not to defend urself
@@dayman161172 "Defend yourself" more like get ganged up, stabbed or shot and left to bleed out on the street. He's probably talking about real world fighting.
@@dayman161172 not at all, the number one rule of self defense and martial arts use is literally to not fight at all. What if the person has a knife, gun, friends? Its best to chicken out and swallow your pride than to regret it as things may get deadly or the other person is just stronger
I have 16 years of pedicure,6 years of carpentry and 4 years of dishwashing.i can beat 20 guys at the same time

The Tai Chi 'Master' is a master of landing the other guy's fists on his face and body...
the tai chi guy is pretty durable tho for an old man
Yeah
@@kungpowchickenwing again check out Nick osipzak. UFC fighter who used yang Tai chi as a base.
@@kungpowchickenwing m.ruclips.net/video/qy3-P142cqM/видео.html
Tai chi isn't a damaging martial art. It if anything may help break a clinch, help you understand someone center like in judo, and has decent low energy take downs. On Nick's RUclips channel he even is the one of says he's using it so... And he teaches it on his channel a bit, and they interviewed him on his Tai chi in the UFC. He explains the Tai chi I guess overall enhances everything else. Lung capacity, balance, finding center, full body coordination, etc. You need something else to finish ppl off. Tai chi isn't too good at that but all arts have pros and cons.
@@taichig0ng "Lung capacity, balance, finding center, full body coordination, etc. " So it has the same benefits as Yoga.
He too old & He didn't have good tactic to fight with Tai Chi
Great commentary. You guys are entertaining to watch this with. Keep it up
Love your videos!! Also, I love hearing the proper pronunciation of some of these fighters names.
I have recently started learning MMA (starting with Muay Thai) largely because of u and Xu xiadong
Thanks.
@John Smith may i ask for some sources good sir
@John Smith first of all that doesnt prove anything of him being fake, and there is no fcking way chen xiao wang is beating a full fledged mma guy. Xu xiadong does speak a lot of smack though i agree on this , but he still did suffer for a good cause (exposing fake martial artists who call themselves masters is kinda a good cause isnt it) and me starting mma was probably a good thing cause now i can atleast somewhat defend in some way which would not have happened from the time i was doing wing chun (i did wing chun before).
He just stood there waving is hands up and down getting hit.. how can he not realize how bad he is.
@Victimblamer69 Tai chi doesn't work. simple as that
@@lostmarimo ahhh, it works but its mainly used for grappling, you need something more than tai chi and bagua to be a good striker, unless you spar alot and pressure test your stuff before getting in a ring like this.
@@alexfpower "mainly sued for grappling" as if wrestling, judo, BJJ, sanda and muay Thai clinch didn't exist 😂
Wow! Mad respect for Tai Chi guy.
He fought in a ring! With gloves!
Most masters would have refused to fight with these disadvantages.
“Disadvantages” 😂
If you wear fighting gloves and somehow that's a disadvantage, you need to reevaluate your martial arts.
imagine a boxer not wearing a gloves. the tai chi master might get killed
This is mesmerizing! What a zen way to open!
It doesn’t matter what he trains, he’s gonna get hurt.
Homie was fighting in an archery stance 😂🤣
So that’s what it is! Don’t give people ideas though... now they’ll say that Tai Chi is the OG archery.
@@FightCommentary lel
😂😂😂 the second boxer didn't even break a sweat
May as well have been a heavy bag drill😂
Wow, I hope they fight soon
Don't blink you might miss the fight
They should make this a tourist attraction when you go to china. Fight a kung fu master for a dollar
Hahaha why dont you have more likes
Is there a reason as to why they actually do this? Are they actually delusional or are they just doing this for fame and clout.
They know Xu could not get near them (location).
Fame, of course. The scammer knows he's not a real Nigerian prince, but he sends you the email anyway.
MasterZhang well put.
They’re delusional. Apparently martial arts styles are more like religions in Asia🤦♂️
I honestly believe they are completely delusional, living a life time thinking they are training and getting stronger messed up their heads, no racional human being who knows their limits is getting in a ring without training against a much larger, stronger, faster and more technical opponent
Prank Xu Xiadong by getting a Lumpinee stadium champion to dress up in kung fu threads and pretend he's a Tai Chi master :D :D :D :D
I don't know why everyone's ragging on the Tai Chi guy, he's obviously a master at his craft. Look at how he effortlessly deflects the boxer's punches with his face. Defensive genius.
You gotta do some Lomachenko fight analysis with Rob.
The boxer is being careful and measuring his punches. He is throwing strong punches, but also focused and well aimed attacks, not wasting any movement unlike the Tai Chi "master" that is flailing and doesn't seem to know how to defend himself at all.
The footwork of kickboxer is so nice!!
Footwork is underestimated in training..I spent 3 months only footwork. Grr..paid off in long run tho. Helps you strike. And more importantly?
Helps you stay on your feet when you catch a hardpunch..
Great fight thnx!! Good commentary too!!
He's very good at blocking punches with his head!!
I always thought that tai chi was more of a grappling thing
Yes, tai chi is grappling standing up.
What do you mean?
Yeah because this guy is a fraud.
If you know tai chi, you can tell that he's no master of any style of tai chi by the way he moves.
@dan b lol if you watch the original video of this fight and understand Chinese, you will hear the announcer introducing Li Ming as a BaGua fighter. That's a totally different martial arts style than Tai Chi and the philosophies are totally different between them. One example, if you are well versed in Chinese martial arts, Tai Chi concerns earth while Bagua concerns man. Anyways this Li Ming is no Bagua master either.
I see. I heard Lee Ming this name. But this is the first footage I saw with related with him.
What is he a master of? Getting hit? He couldn't even throw a jab.
I actually think he probably know boxing, but he just insist on wanting to use Tai Chi to defeat Xu. Because Taiwan got compulsory military service and in the army they are trained in TKD, Chinese boxing (which is very similar to MMA) and kick boxing. So, I think he know those boxing skills he just want to use Tai Chi to win to prove it is a valid fighting style. But I think that is going to be very hard, Tai Chi is design mainly for health not combat, you can use it as basic self defense, if you are trained in that manner, but, it won't work very well in the ring.
@@peteryang8991 Whatever he was doing, it didn't work. The man could have got seriously hurt.
@@philipvjones397 Maybe, I like to give him the benefit of the doubt consider despite Tai Chi isn't design for combat, but design for health, they are still using martial art to serve the purpose of mild base health exercise. But, if the purpose is for health, a lot of what the style use is no good in a fight and some might have transformed into something that can no longer be use in combat, but I do like to give him the benefit of the doubt, despite it seem non optimistic. Hopefully with sufficient combat training he can actually use it in combat, even if it is not very effective.
I do hope that it would be Vale Tudo rules.
That would be 3 second KO right there.
What sucks is that Tai Chi has some cool stuff too when its trained and applied correctly in sparring, i had a guy at my dojo who trained it fro a while and that guy was able to knock me off of balance in the oddest ways that i sometimes wasnt even able to anticipate. Such a shame that this is what it looks like in china.
They let it go to waste.
Yeah he knocked you off balance in odd ways, so did my old teacher during exercises... that still can't be considered fighting or even sparring under pressured conditions. Little of it works in a real fight.
@@somerandomperson8282 no this was in sparring conditions, for example i would go in for a one two and somehow end up falling foreward, he was messing with my balance by compromising it when i engaged with him. The cool part was that this wasnt applied in a controlled setting where i wasnt resisting, it was when we were doing "free form" or sparring, these techniques did work under pressure.
@@frogman4700 What does "sparring conditions" mean? Contact sparring with pads? I still get the impression it was soft/light-semi contact sparring.
@@somerandomperson8282 controlled full speed sparring, we usually don't do pads though. strikes are allowed to be full contact, dont hit the face with a fist only use open hand palm strikes for that. Try to be nice to the other person so no excessively painful submissions or kicks to the balls. Basically full contact but with awareness of your opponent and no actively trying to fuck them up or seriously injure them.
Lol this match was too funny. Tai chi dude got lit up
Spot on
can see this boxer is experienced , he moves in with his hooks off his slips , loads of head movement
That was quick! Just this morning we recorded this!
Nice
@Rob Watt when fighting someone at long range do you keep the jabbing hand out a bit more, or do you keep your hands close to your face regardless of distance?
@@empyreal2361 see loma , thats my textbook
@@RobWatt I agree loma is one of my top 3 favorite boxers to watch because of how different and smooth his movements are. In terms of his hands it does seem like he keeps it out a bit more at the long range.
For someone who does Sanda Kung Fu, I really enjoy watching your channel and observing these other style of martial arts! Keep it up! :)
Sanda/ Sanshou is the modern day Chinese Kung fu. It’s effective
@@sarahlee3056 After training for 3 years now I can't agree more with you!
It’s almost always best to stick to what your good at but know what you’re weak to and try to mitigate those weaknesses, ie if you’re a kickboxer that’s best with punch combinations, stick with those, but know that bjj and wrestling exists, that doesn’t mean you need to learn wrestling, in fact it’s probably a terrible idea to try to just outwrestle someone who specializes in it. but it would be very useful to know how to stuff a guard and keep the fight on your feet
I can’t watch this.. major props for him just getting in ring.. he has no offense, defense doesn’t even hold up to amateur boxers..
He will die against beginning mma people..
Evolve, adapt or die
I agree props for stepping in the ring so many times. At least hes staying in the game
Li Ming:Kitty fist!!!
(Physical damage:0.1)
Boxing hand technique has always been better that the hands of some martial artist.
This is fun...
Regardless of his style he definitely has heart man! I bet if he was a kickboxer or mma fighter he would be tough as nails to fight!!!
Him training a few months to fight our Winter Panda? Come on, Jerry? You want him killed or what?
I have always maintained that the only person I know of (on youtube) who spars effectively with tai chi is Liang De Hua who is based in Thailand.
After seeing his sparring I dont understand how he get to the idea that he is a match fur Xu.
It's better when Jerry is alone commenting a fight without his friends
Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth, MT.
Taichi wouldnt work with gloves though, or am i wrong?
this will end badly, these masters will find a guy, who will really fight for real, and will end up in the hospital, or even worse.
@@kungpowchickenwing it may even be that, the idea is very cool, but if not, it will keep getting beaten.
That Taiwanese Tai Chi "master" is just going to get himself KO in seconds if it is going to be a real fight and not just sparring....
even i with 3 lessons in MMA, was half waiting for a sweep
He should definitely train in boxing, but not challenge xu xiaodong. Xu Xiaodong is terrifying.
Tao Chi guy is using house cat style boxing for catnip
Are these guys really little or is the ring huge?
Probably small fighter
it looked like they were doing mitts work
I guess everyone wants to be famous anyway or lose face at the same time
As long as you can keep going and put yourself in the ring against real fighters, you’ll grow as one.
I think this is tai chi master's waking up moment. I don't think he's going to go through with fighting Xu Xiao Dong.
Oh another few second fight. It is clear he never sparred or fight ever in his life. That pendulum fist infront of his face was ridiculous. Time it well n one big ko punch could easily knock him out!!!
After watchin' this video Im not sure where the master got the confidence to fight Xu?
Tai chi guy looks like he's never thrown a punch in his life.
Learn boxing and pray for this guy.
l smell a ko coming this guy's way full speed
What you don't understand is that the tai chi master was yielding the boxers punches, generating the boxer force against himself. After the fight was over the boxer started bleeding from his nose and ears from internal damage.
He deserves a lot of respect for putting his face out there instead of just making claims and actually pressure-testing his technique
Too bad he's a bit too late now, if this was what he had done since he was younger, he could have been a great - and real - Tai Chi master
At least this guy had the courage to get up and actually challenge people instead of not showing anything until Xu Xiaodong challenges them. I don't see this guy taking him though, his defense is feeble and he shows little striking power. He does have some good endurance though at least for his age, but he'd need some Homer Simpson level level chin to not get his ass clapped by Xu Xiaodong and looking like he fell off a train afterwards.
00:05 so deadly.. many Chi's, equal Tai's.
Why is always Rob eating in every single video? Not all of them because in others he is drinking. But most videos Rob is eating. Why?
Because this shit doesn't deserve his full attention
He's busy training his own no-touch kung-fu when he's not filming videos.
Man's hungry
I don't think this Thai Chi guy will stand a chance against Xu Xiaodong. The way he spar with that boxer on white is hilarious! Lol!
Before he fights Xu, he should practice his RunFu.
Tai Chi is very good if you get into a fight with a Teddy Bear, but that's about all !

Tai Chi guy obviously holding back..He doesnt even use his chi blast 😁
Hadoooken!
@@dayman161172 EXACTLY! how.can he hadoken with Gloves on!?😁

Li Ming looks like a guy at my work who got fired for stealing batteries.
Tai chi guy would need a miracle if he wants to beat Xu
I think the tai chi guy was relying on the size of his gloves to protect him.
Even though the tai chi guy may not be good, ill give him credit for being able to take a hit
Put some Bob Marley music over this guy's katas
Even if you get your foot to the outside, the guy inside can still light you up.
What he been Smoking jajajajaja.
Yang Tai Chi needs more Yang cultivation.
AH Jerry, you know too well that this Chai Tea master is going to a hospital in a body bag if he's that crazy to challenge Xu Xiaodong.
LOL! That dude is going to die if he fights Xu Xiaodong.
Boxing Gloves are for Boxing... Taiji requires softness and subtlety to perform and use. Many Taiji skills translate to Boxing, but without the many hours of hitting mits and people, it's difficult to compete competently.
Boxer has prominent technique balance.
What was tai chi guy thinking, he can't do any damage!
TaiChi is for inner strength with slow movement exercise. How they believe it can transfer to combat fighting is beyond belief.
The boxer is dominating the chi guy
The problem is that the arts dint spar and have lost knowledge of application the principles of taichi can be martial but most just have lost the knowledge and dont train to fight
You sure they aren't actually Chai Tea practitioners? It's an easy mistake to make.
If you only practice drills and you don't practice the application of those drills thru pressure-sparring you will be getting beat up if you choose to fight for real.
This man down parrying punches with his face. He has no guard. What is with these dumb martial arts not teaching you not to block punches?
@Nikolaij Brouiller Wow.......so they have been watching too many movies then. I just don't get it when he shows these videos of these guys just taking punches to the face.
that one dis comes from tai chi master
Tai Chi Master (?) does not have the common sense to know he NO SKILLs for actual in ring fighting. He should NOT go into the ring with someone like Xu Xiaodong who will not hold back. The first boxer was young and was being very nice and non aggressive.
Is it just me or does the tai chi guy in the beginning look so closed in and tight?
