    These videos usually become available on RUclips in the small hours and I’m always amazed looking at the early comments how many people are watching when they should be fast asleep !

    Once again, a pleasure to watch your video. Your Panther is a good ambassador for Villiers-powered machines! A fine start to my weekend.

    I used to run a model 50GS, I have very fond memories of it. I particularly remember a solo run from South Croydon to Potter Heigham in Norfolk, one had to travel through London back then, get on the Mile End Road, through Epping Forest, and on to the A11, 149 miles, with one fuel stop, the 3T engine not missing a beat, and running as smoothly as a Crompton Parkinson electric motor. I bought the bike from Pride & Clarke, Stockwell Road. If only I still had it!

    That was a treat JJ. Back in 1973 I spent much of the summer working on an excavation in Scole. Spent many happy evenings in the Old Scole Inn turning my pay into urine.😆 Nice ride. Always a treat to come along with you.

    A charming little bike. I spent years riding underpowered, over-loaded small capacity motorcycles. Initially out of necessity, then from a perverse sense of pleasure. The most inappropriate touring machines I've come across are a Jawa 50 being ridden from the Czech Republic to Africa, and two young women on massively laden VeloSolex way back in the late 1970s. Your Villiers twin gave a good account of itself.

    Wow, this video was almost alarmingly frantic in comparison with JJ's usual POC masterpieces ! - I have to admit that initially the unexpected speed (or impression of it..) and unrestricted revving were quite disturbing and it came as no surprise when JJ's wild riding style stretched the chain.. After a while though my heartbeat returned to normal, all was well again and I really enjoyed it after all !.. Joking aside, the model 35 does run (and more importantly start..) very well, it's credit to both JJ and Villiers !..

    Like the poor stalling pupil at 15:10 I was a learner driver once too, I failed my one and only car test and never bothered with it again, I've only ridden bikes ever since and leave the cars to my wife.. I only took the test in the first place because of massive pressure from my then girlfriend's mother, the final straw came when she claimed I was a 'degenerate' for riding bikes 'at my age' (19 years old at the time..) - Primarily to rid myself of the mother I dumped the girlfriend, who unfortunately went 'off the rails' for a while (probably after being infected with my 'degeneracy' ?..) - I'm ashamed to confess to smiling to myself when a mutual friend told me some time afterwards that the now ex-girlfriend's mother had told her that perhaps I wasn't so bad after all !..

    Often watch Mr. Tiernan, the mechanic who rides all the bikes in their videos is missing, beatiful bikes and you were making like 60 mph I guess with no complain from the Villiers twin, Greetings from Yucatán, México.

      Agree with your first comment @00v but built around my body shape it's not at all uncomfortable. And the electric start saves a right leg beaten up by nearly 50 years of kicking over the heavyweight Panthers!

    86-89 i was running a Yamaha RD350 N2 , me and my then girlfriend used to go on long trips , so i purchased a set of saddlebags ( looked a bit weird on a YPVS ! ) but after turning full boy racer with a set of Allspeeds we could no longer use the bags . The more upswept angle of the pipes resulted in on one trip a smell of burnt plastic mixed with toasty overtones ! , When we pulled over and inspected the bottom of the bags the new pipes had blasted through the bottom resulting in burnt Tupperware and the contents therein , plus one camera ruined

    Superb. Your P&M videos are always well worth a look. I recall the 250 Panther back in the day and later thinking how the tank's shape may have inspired the Ducati Elite tank. An electric starter on a two stroke ... Well I never.... That front brake looks like a beefy one is it original? Back in 1965 George Clarke motors were selling a brand new 650 Pather with a new Double Adult sidecar on a second had chassis for £279.10d. Regretably I was, at age 17, only able to afford a rather well used BSA Bantam 175 for £35.

    • @PantherOwnersClub1
      @PantherOwnersClub1  49 минут назад

      Thanks brockett. Front brake is a later Yamaha item. The tiny British Hub original was really not good enough for such a lively bike.
