Theres one thing that you didn't touch upon, and that it's extremely hard to not prefer the black and gold color scheme of charcoal over the blue and white of mint
The black and gold definitely looks swanky, but both colors go pretty well with a lot of gear (especially the black and white Toni Kensa gear which looks pretty good with both versions).
As someone who is mediocre at best with Inkjet, I have definitely gravitated more towards Mint Decavitator, especially in Open Clams. Plenty of opportunities to feel like a true Toothpaste Samurai (which REALLY needs to be an in game title), fighting your way into the enemy basket area and then dropping the bubbler for your teammates to jump in with power clams while you defend their jumps. I still have a lot to learn about playing the weapon, but Bubbler just feels right with it. 😎
For me it's less about me being mediocre with Inkjet and more because I can't combo with Splash Wall well. Not to mention Suction Bomb helps as a "Get off of me!" tool.
@@Riodileyou're a decav with a big ass melee hitbox why would you want people to get off you? if its for range poke, wall is better because you can actually fight back lol
Mint works way better than charcoal for me, tbh. Pretty quickly when it released, I realized the Mint Decavitator was The Sword I’d been wanting in Splatoon since swords were announced. This thing Feels busted, while actually being pretty well balanced all things considered
Going from VRoller to MCav feels like an upgrade to me, especially with the fact that both weapons share the ability to command respect when setting up a Big Bubbler, because under competent hands, an opponent entering the bubble is basically guaranteed to be one shot
*🎶DECAVITATIOOOOOOOON🎶* Also, yes; the *Mint* variant is ultimately the superior option While the *Charcoal’s* Inkjet is strong by itself with a dash-slash helping with its recall, the Splash Wall doesn’t have much synergy going in order to enhance the weapon’s aggressive nature However, the *Mint’s* Suction Bomb for poking/forcing repositions and the Big Bubbler for continued aggression after positioning with a dash-slash, instant refills to continue streaks, cancelling end-lag, or throwing double-Suction Bombs creates a lot more synergy with the weapon; making it a better package as a whole!
The thing about this weapon with bubbler is that it works a lot like vanilla roller. Both weapons can set up bubbler in the front line, in an aggressive spot. they can both hold the space in the bubble in a way in which an enemy wouldn't really be able to enter and attack without dying. This makes roller and the decavitator better than most bubble weapons due to how they can better utilize bubbler
Coming from someone who recently 5 starred the Charcoal Decavitator, I absolutely love its kit! Splash wall feels weird at first, but if you use it as more of a decoy/distraction tool against longer range weapons, it becomes pretty handy. You can't exactly throw it out and start fighting like the 52 gal and Squeezer, so this is probably its best use case. Inkjet my beloved! This is definitely the main appeal of the kit, and it helps fix one of the Decavitators main weaknesses. That being its lack of range against mid to long range weapons. Inkjet alone takes some time to improve with, but once you master all aspects of the kit, it feels like a dream to use. I've been playing more Mint now and I gotta say, this kit is also a banger! Having a bomb is always nice to poke with and I do agree that Big Bubbler synergizes incredibly well with the weapon. Your one shot forces people to stay back, similar to a splat roller. I'm definitely more biased towards Charcoal, but both kits are honestly such a blast to play! You really can't go wrong with either one imo.
As an H-3 fan... I feel your pain. As for the Decavitator, for some reason, while I do think both can be aggro QR weapons, I think only Charcoal actually needs it. The kit feels more vulnerable. But the main weapon is SUPER fun and the kits are solid too.
Great video! I always love your videos even though I'm much less skilled and a much more casual player overall. For me, Big Bubbler was not my favorite special going in, especially since I was a roller main in earlier games and my experience with the Splat Roller in this game had me feeling like its highly mobile playstyle wasn't well suited to a stationary shield. That said, I'm not great with Inkjet either-picking off opponents and bobbing and weaving to avoid being punished in the air are both things I've struggled with. But having enjoyed all the other Splatanas so far in Splatoon 3 I instantly gravitated toward the Decavitator, and found that the Mint really suited the way I play. In particular, the Big Bubbler is great for providing temporary relief in a tense situation, and the Suction Bomb is great for putting pressure on opponents, especially ones like long-range weapons on higher ground that the main weapon might otherwise struggle to hit. In the past I've often struggled to make the most of sub weapons (even completely forgetting that they're an option in situations where they'd be useful), so I've tended to prefer ones like Squid Beakons that I can put down in out-of-the-way spots over ones I'm expected to aim in the midst of a firefight. But the Suction Bomb synergizes really well with the Decavitator, and I feel like it's been making me better at knowing when and how to utilize bomb subs overall. I haven't tried the Charcoal Decavitator much yet due to my struggles with Inkjet, but might give it a go once I've five-starred the Mint one. Maybe it'll help me improve at utilizing things like the Splash Wall or Inkjet that I've struggled to make the most of in the past.
I like both but vanilla one is my favorite, it has an actual bomb and you can push in and if you’re in trouble or almost out of ink and you have your bubbler ready, just pop it and boom instant ink refill. The bubbler buff does help too it actually holds up more now it’s amazing.
I started with the mint and couldn't get the hang of it. When I moved to charcoal the extra safety of the splash wall helpped me figure out how to utilise the main weapon, it was the training wheels I needed. So when I went back to mint I could better position myself and use the weapon to its strengths. I do like the mints kit but I think both decavs play differently just due to their kits
i am terrible with inkjet and ive tried to get better at it but i realised i much prefer the mint varient. i usally dont main wepoens that have a lethal bomb so finally having a wepon i like and it having a lethal bomb is great. i dont have experance using big bubble outside of mint decav but i already much prefer it, i feell i can move around more and not worry about my postioning as much as i would when using inkjet or splash wall.
The bubblegum decavitator was clearly the best, the curling bombs to enhance the mobility and Booyah bomb for survivability has decent synergy :3 (I hope and pray this is actually a thing alongside 3rd kits)
Oh really? I am personally a big fan of the Strawberry Decavitator! With its Squid Beakons you can help get yourself AND your teammates back into the fight! And with its Booyah Bomb it can help you survive any risky situations! (Not the most "viable" but I think it would be fun lmao)
Honestly i prefer the wintergreen decavitator. With the ink storm helping you make pushes safety and the ink mine showing you where someone is, i think the wintergreen decav makes for a great support / sharking weapon
Mint is way better. New main. Love it so much fun Honestly when I first saw these on the in-game news broadcast I could instantly tell the mint is the better kit and the charcoal just looks cooler. I genuinely think people just played the charcoal more on launch because it looks cooler, not because of inkjet.
I haven't really liked the Decav at all (either one) yet due to being so unfamiliar with how slow it's charged slashes come out compared to the other two splatanas, but I've been absolutely loving both wellstrings 'w'
I disagree kinda. The charcoal doesn’t have a sub to get it in enemy territory. The only offensive part of charcoal is inkjet. Mint is more of a balance between the two
I love the Charcoal Decavitator because Inkjet is pretty fun to use even if it’s a bit difficult, but I also like using Splash Wall and have experience with using it aggressively from my time playing Glooga Dualies. That being said, your advice on using the Mint to learn the main weapon is pretty great, since I feel like I struggle with using the main sometimes (getting used to horizontal-only after playing Stamper for the longest time is not easy…), so I’ll probably give it a try!
I think that with the charcoal, you would pick and choose your interactions and save up for inkjet every now and then whereas with the mint, you can more easily force yourself into the frontline with suction bomb and use bubbler as a continuation special.
I love both, and have 3 stars on them currently! I prefer Mint, as it's easier to use, and Big Bubbler is more useful in Clam Blitz, Tower Control, and probably Splat Zones too. Inkjet is better in Rainmaker, though I'm only decent with it. I also prefer Suction Bomb over Splash Wall! I've done well with both kits, though, so it's close. Great synergy with the main weapon for both kits, I think!
Every single time I see an opinion on which is better it's different from the last I saw and every time I'm convinced. Decavitator might be the most even two kits are for the same weapon in the game while playing different roles
I like Mint Decavitator because Suction Bomb helps the main weapon due to its short-ish range, While yeah Inkjet is good but Splash Wall sorta fails you at times
I'm a mint decavitator enjoyer because lethal bombs are always good to have, and I'm forced to use the main weapon more (as opposed to charcoal where I feel an urge to use a lot of inkjets like some sort of crutch).
It comes down to the mode I feel. Mint is stronger in most Ranked Modes due to the support it offers. In Splat Zones or Turf War, Charcoal is great for playing at your own pace, but in other Ranked Modes, Mint is able to push in and play/support the objective easily

They should make all the brushes work the way decavitator does. Chargeable but goes into brush mode if you hold .forward or brush charge if you hold charge then push forward.

It's the nonbinary sword :)

Dude same! I'm not good w inkjet and I use the same strat in clams

@@Riodileyou're a decav with a big ass melee hitbox why would you want people to get off you? if its for range poke, wall is better because you can actually fight back lol
Charcoal for sure! This weapon + kit combo is the deciding factor that makes splat3 better than 2 for me, by a small margin. It’s that good!
Mint works way better than charcoal for me, tbh. Pretty quickly when it released, I realized the Mint Decavitator was The Sword I’d been wanting in Splatoon since swords were announced. This thing Feels busted, while actually being pretty well balanced all things considered
Best part about every vid is the thumbnail face
It’s worth mentioning the big bubbler buffs seems to have added up as well

What I love about the decavitator is the hit-box. You can literally kill anyone on the tower in one charged slash. It’s just satisfying ❤️😅

I do like the Charcoal Decaviator because it reminds me of Vergil's Katana. So, that's why I am very motivated. 😂
This video has great editing
Thanks!
Mint noob here..... How do you slide forward when attacking please?
