    UPDATE: To our knowledge thus far, many versions of PowerPoint can record slideshows with annotations and audio. Only a computer-installed version of Office 365 for Windows allows a user to add video to the recording, though from other comments, it seems other more recent versions (i.e. 2019) may also have the capability. Thanks for your questions and keep recording! We appreciate the interest and can see the need for simple video recording solutions like this, as we are all trying to figure out how to educate our viewers in the best way possible nowadays!

      Adding from our email conversations to help others! - The path to get to the video recording in 365 is slightly different, but still very accessible. It lives under the tab Slide Show and under Record Slide Show after that. See more details here: cte.clarksoncollege.edu/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Recording-in-PPT-Office365.pdf.

If you're not familiar with Camtasia, it is a video recording and editing program with a reasonable learning curve. It's very popular in education. A single educational license is $169, individual/business license is $249 but you can also get a free trial. www.techsmith.com/camtasia-pricing.html

    • @NewRevolutionTools
      @NewRevolutionTools 4 года назад

      Producing it into a video is going to be best in most cases. First, that may be helpful so you can post it online where it is easy to access. It also means you would NOT be requiring all viewers to have PowerPoint on their computer which they would if you shared the native PP file. Further, there may be compatibility issues with playback if your viewers are not running the same version of PowerPoint. Best of luck!

    Hi. I have a question. When I use Zoom (I have a Logitech e930c webcam, the drivers for which aren’t the best as they’re designed for the Asian market!) meetings, it’s easy to use the software to create a virtual backdrop (my Company logo). However, I need to go a step further, so I’m not sure if installing OBS will help. I’m creating a new educational RUclips channel. What I'd like to be able to do is create MS PowerPoint slides (which I understand I can then ‘record‘ from within PowerPoint to create an MP4 video - I also have Nero video editing software, in case that helps!) and have myself appearing on my webcam (as a kind of mini thumbnail video in the corner of the main PowerPoint screen) describing the slides as each plays on the main screen. I also want to have the virtual background behind me instead of my office! Once complete, it would be my intention to upload the finished article to RUclips. Am I over-complicating? What’s the best way of doing this. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

      Thank you for the question, Hugh Lee! The mp4 video that will be recorded when you narrate in PowerPoint will be relatively small, so your background will not be very visible. With that being said, if that is a unique feature that you want to keep, there's a handful of options. Here are 2: 1. One option would be to put a green screen behind you and record through PowerPoint as described. Once in post-production, you could key out the chroma green color and replace it with your logo. We use Camtasia for video editing and have not used Nero, but it appears you can use Chroma Key in Nero: ruclips.net/video/2Hseax0TMFg/видео.html. 2. Others may use OBS to accomplish this and create a virtual webcam, where they would key out in real-time, overlaying a background. You would need to choose that webcam in the Settings once you start the Record Slide Show, but we are not sure PowerPoint will recognize it. It would be worth a shot though! Do these options help you move forward?

      Revolution Lightboards Thank you so much for getting back to me. My daughter suggested a slightly simpler way that I have found works. I have the free copy of Zoom. I set up a ‘meeting’ with only me in it. Zoom lets me choose a ‘virtual background’ (my Company logo) for my webcam settings, which I did. I’m currently working on my series of educational PowerPoint presentations. Once they’ve been completed, I’ll be able to go back and do Zoom meetings with Zoom set to ‘record’. I’ll then be able to do my my narration, doing a simultaneous ‘screen share’ (which will be the PowerPoint slides - I can read the script from my iPad, if necessary). I’m quite comfortable with this ‘lower-level’ kind of technology, and none of my presentations last longer than the 30 minutes that the free version of Zoom allows anyway. Your advice (which I may well try out if things get more tricky down the line) is VERY much appreciated. Thank you.

    What he doesn't say is that certain versions of powerpoint wont have the option for video!

      See the pinned comment. A computer installed version of Office 365 will have this feature.

    Why my PowerPoint doesn't have the camera button ?

    • @RevolutionLightboards
      @RevolutionLightboards  3 года назад

      Only a computer-installed version of Office 365 will have this (Windows and Mac are both OK). If you are running a different version of Office or running the the web-browser version that is your issue.

      According to the Microsoft link in the description, Office 365 for Mac will allow you but the older versions do not allow this. We have not verified that ourselves but if you do this, can you please comment back to confirm?

      You cannot, this feature is not available in 2010. See pinned comment above.

    Thanks for the info...
    It's very helpful and simple to follow.
    I can do this with office 2019 but not office with 2016.
    Is there any way to use it with office 2016.
    Please update if possible...

      Thank you for the comment! Unfortunately, we don't have Office 2016 ourselves to verify, but to our research, the camera recording functionality is available in that version. Please verify that you have the most up-to-date version installed. Yes you can do this in office 2013 too. I have tried. You just have to add few 'add ins'
