Hey X, not sure if you will see this comment but I am currently working on a single player focused Dino survival game and your videos continuously help me to work on it.
Really great overview of this unique genre, people new to these games often comment "there is no content", "I'm lost on what to do next", "where's the tutorial?", it takes a real mind shift for many. Love how you include all the 3 major games, they all have something great to add, but have some different approaches, your right the genre is new and has a some ways to go before maturity
"Low quality audio and animations" my brother you were REACHING with that one. BoB's animations/sounds have as much personality as an isle animation/sounds, the real one with low quality animations and audio is PoT, all the animals move like lifeless husks and sound like wheezing old men after puffing the last cig in the box

Nice vid Zag, but there is one thing I have to say, I don’t believe in the big 3 as much, as I feel they’re eventually all going to be outcompeted by another title that actually goes through development in a smart and efficient way, instead of releasing practically nothing, and adding more onto that pile of nothing, where it should eventually turn into something supposed to be a game. The moment a smart dev team pulls up, the big 3 gotta think fast.
I think I gotta speak up regarding how you've summarized BoB at 9:25 onwards .... not throwing shade just hoping you understand my feedback/pov... I'm a little disappointed that you've framed BoB's quality 'much to be desired' while showing literal ancient footage of many outdated models which WAS absolutely true at THAT time. I notice you've done this multiple times in your videos whenever BoB is shown; re-use of the same old outdated models etc very little if any footage/pics of updated content aside from the on-release cameos of Titania map. The dev team has released many remodels that look very high quality + realistic (none of which you've shown) e.g; para, lurd, apa, ptera, acro to name a few. Just recently acro got improved animations. More are obviously on the way. Yes some of the maps are graphically dated but unfortunately not everyone can play the new map 'Titania' as on release it had many optimization issues unless you've got a good PC/laptop. Would've been nice to see you show some actual current gameplay footage of Titania + updated models instead of the slideshow showcasing BoB in its earlier days as I feel like that footage is quite deceiving (there's been touch ups on older maps particularly Rival Shore's jungle area, extension of a mountain that would otherwise be a dead area etc). I have to disagree on the 'low quality' audio/animations - the dinosaur calls are decent (minus rex plz give us old rex calls back I will die on this hill ok), immersive SFX when you enter swampy areas with frogs/crickets plus the absolutely bone chilling audio that plays when entering deep kelp forests underwater or caves you can hear the water droplets; purely out of this world feeling (just to name a couple). Hell, they even added emotes you can unlock on certain dinos which play fluidly. It's a shame you haven't shown any of those in this video as those areas are quite immersive on par with good quality assets/models/SFX etc.
I bought a whole gaming setup planning to try a lot of games, yet I ended up only sticking to two or three, and the isle by far took up most of my time
I think the next wave will be animal survival ones with primal earth animalia and my personal favourite the hunted I think that will be the next pot vs isle vs bob
So you're fine with the insanely unrealistic ability of carno and lycno charge in PoT and TI (carno cant charge, its genuinely unrealistic, carno would shatter its face into pieces if it tried to charge irl), but not ok with a game actually building on that and making their playables super unique and interesting from one another? Me personally out of the 3 main dino games i like beasts of bermuda the most and path of titans and the isle are mid for me cause yes i like realism BUT when there is just realism and no interesting mechanics or nothing else to do the game falls flat while beasts of bermuda can keep me interested for months until i inevitably burnout from the game for a bit but its just much more interesting sure its not the most realistic but also the graphics arent super dated like they are fine just sucks its kinda dieing now that the newness of titania has worn off hoping for a new big update soonish (praying for saichania remodel/rework or new dino)
@@peabrain6872so what if amongst the diet is fine, if a carnivore player even interacts with a herbivore player, more often then not, they can be both ran down with charge abilities or raw speed and then killed with the huge raw stats herbivores have. Herbivores are just actively built to play unfairly when fighting them as a carnivore, it is hilariously bad
I play many dino survival game like evrima, BoB, PoT, and many more indie dino game like saurian, isle of yore, etc. I find that Path of Titans (PoT) got the most toxic community i've ever witness. I witness some new player uninstall the game because of the behavior of the community itself. The world chat always filled with toxic conversation between one group and another. The gameplay is so boring, nothing to do except fighting, the combat system is janky, no unique mechanic on each dino, no nesting, no finding food because the game dont have sniffing mechanic, weird growth system (they got tiny amount of growth by doing quest), and the quest site always being camped by KoSer so you actually can't grow anywhere because you will be killed while doing quest on open area, the water system is ridiculous because the quality always depletes whenever we drink from them and make it undrinkable, apexes on PoT are so weak, slow, and can't defend themselves against pack more than 3 people its not worth growing apex on PoT, trophy system on PoT adding more toxicity to the game, many KoSer always camp waystones and homecaves, and many more! There is so many toxicity within the game, not to mention their community are so toxic, no wonder the community of PoT never grew larger than it already is, because new player get pushed back by the behavior they showing within the game.
There are ways around much of what you point out here. Such as growth being different on community servers due to passive growth or getting much more for quests. Knowing Hotspots and to avoid them unless wanting to risk a fight; from the sounds of it it seems like you primarily keep to hot spots because the water quality only becomes low if a group of dinosaurs stay in the area for long periods of time. Which is a incentive to travel elsewhere. Apexes are far from weak if you know how to use them properly. Blindly charging in will always get you killed no matter what. You have to use some common survival techniques thinking. Open areas are a double edged blade. One way, you can see your surroundings to not be snuck up on, but on the other hand anybody else can see you too. It's why open areas tend to attract players and become hotspots. Community servers once more play a role with controlling toxicity in chat, often having rules against it. You can't camp super close to homecaves either. As it's a suicidal sentence from the debuff. You could just avoid them as they can't chase you, they take more damage and do less damage themselves. Going to waystones is a personal risk outside community servers which again-- usually make a rule against it. I enjoy each of the three dinosaur survival games. BoB being my most favorite due to all the mechanics which appeal to me. But while Official servers on POT are toxic, you can also just avoid them by keeping it to group chat. The Isle's Official is burdened mostly by Hackers, and Bob's Official is watched over by staff so it is less toxic which is good. I think PoT would have a huuge benefit if staff also stepped in on their Official servers to combat toxicity.

There are so many flaws within the game imo Let's talk about mechanic and stats of their rooster, why mid tier like pycno, pachy, cera, kentro, etc are so OP in this game that everyone literally using them so much? Because they have overall better stats and mechanic than those apexes. Decent speed, decent stams, decent recovery, decent turning radius and precise movement. In combat terms they are more versatile than those apexes. Apexes only has higher damage output which is useless if you always miss your attack and can't even catch them. No wonder apexes are always cornered themselves if they got targetted by a pack just to defend themselves. I've seen so many solo apexes getting bullied by jumping charging biter cera Packs. Imagine seeing a tyrant Lizard king cowering in the corner of a wall getting bullied by ceras, but this is common scene on every hotpot on PoT. Its kinda hillarious watching it tbh Let's talk about quest system in the game, the quest is boring with the same stuff and only with Tiny bit of growth rate, who enjoy doing these things? The devs only updating the game about janky combat stuff, like new janky combat mechanic and stuff and completely ignore boring quest system. Why don't they spend their energy inventing feature like nesting or Elder feature that keep adult dino bussy achieving Elder instead of running around blindly killing everything on their sight. Just Big dino AI Will suffice to kill their boredom, though, but they were no AI on this game. Let's talk about group system in the game. PoT allowed Mixpacking within carnies order/herbies order to create somewhat one of a kind PVP Dino game, like for example, it provide many different strats for carnies mixpack to hunt some herbies, and stuff like that. But in reality group are just for some toxic people camping quest site, camping homecaves, and camping waystones and bullying growing solo players. Let's talk about the community that play on official servers. They are bunch of server hopper. That means they kill someone and then log off and then relog again to play in another server to avoid revenge. They park each of their dino in specific area of quest site to server hop and harrass another player. If someone manages to kill this guy, the whole server Will target those who kill his dino till to the edge of map of they have to. PoT have full of people that don't wanna admit their loss and full of people with vengeful heart. Let's talk about trophy system in the game. So many people Exploit this feature to grow their dino fast with the help of their friends. They always targetting solo Players, kill them and give the trophy to their member that needs it to grow. Trophy gives significant amount of growth btw, so this method of growing is really popular among those veteran Players. Trophy only adding unnecessary toxicity in the game.
I think you have The Isle confused with Path of Titans. Path combat is better and each dino has unique abilities. The Isle is the boring game with the same attacks for every dino and the insanely toxic community.
This feels like the person who made this video dislikes dino survival games and would enjoy a different genre. You should change the dialouge accordingly, you're just another person with an opinion.
