Please stop trying to understand the story: assuming things and making your own narratives in the comments on what “could’ve” happened. There’s so much I cut out and didnt share because like I said this Is not about the story this Is about the message of forgiveness. I will tell my entire story when I’m ready. There’s so much y’all don’t know that I chose to keep private because it would take away from the message. I just told enough truth for the story to make sense.
It took me weeks to edit this video because everytime I tried I couldn’t stop crying. I just posted it and to have so many people telling me it helped then makes it all worth it. This is literally my purpose on this earth. Thankyou all so much.

Thank you for being open sharing your experience. I honor the fact that you asked your little sister for permission first, which shows that you value your integrity and her feelings more than the number views and likes on your video. Your story is an example of how forgiveness doesn't show weakness, but great strength. Look at how much you have overcome! We must all learn to forgive. Thank you and God bless you.

Maybe she isn’t remorseful because she left for a good enough reason. And she would do it again if she had too. A mother makes huge sacrifices for her kids. Period. You don’t know how hard it was for her to leave them With a straight face. you never know what goes on behind closed doors. Meaning u never know what her and the dad had going on. It had to be serious for them. Because even now years later they still won’t tell the whole truth and every detail on what happened.

My dad left us when I was 3, I'm turning 19 this year..I know what you're going through having an absent parent..my father never even visited us but I thank the lord for my step dad who has been treating me like his own daughter..not everyone might come from a picture perfect family all my friends had involved dads, but mine wouldn't even call, text, support me financialy, support me emotionally...I dont even know my dads family, I honestly dont hate him ..
Someone will only understand this situation if they've been through it themselves.. Its easy for someone to ask why u aren't close to your dad\mom ...I mean I was 3 when he left me, we stayed in the same country but he ever took the effort to see my sister & I , he used to tell us as kids he would come visit than he never does, we would take showers, dress all nice for the day he was suppose to come, wait for him all day, but he never showed up..than we cried and my sister and I consoled each other....we have been consoling each other for 16 years...I recently passed my grade 12\matric with distinction and I'm gonna study medicine...and all of a sudden he remembers he has a child..I don't despise hin but I can't pretend or act as if everything is okay, relationships are formed at early stages, not at the last minute when he thinks he can benefit from my success..I thank God for my #1 support system my mom, without her I would be a mess.
Y'all probably didnt asked for my life story, but I shared it anyway..just needed to vent.

We are definitely the generation of healing from our parents mistakes ! & never expect an I’m sorry for your loss, truss me their generation does not believe in apologizing for their mistakes, you’re honestly expected to forget. But i see myself in you, when it comes to the fact i put 110 percent into a relationship that might not be reciprocated the same way, boo. & she definitely didn’t reciprocate the same love you had for her 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @theOstenHugo
      @theOstenHugo 5 лет назад +12

Donelle Johnson you cant generalize the entire generation as unforgiving or unapologetic people bc my father apologized to me x my siblings for the trauma he caused us during our childhood. it really depends on the person, the situation, x the circumstance. you have to be in a place to feel remorse x be in a place to forgive.

s m b x that’s literally the point of generalizing. He’s OBVIOUSLY not talking about everyone from that generation. y’all need to quit with the “not all” and comprehend the fact that when people reference something non specific they’re speaking of the vast majority. Wasn’t nobody talking about your dad lmao

It took me forever to understand this! Once I learned what my parents went through in their youth I understood they couldn't give me a love they never experienced themselves. My daddy use to say kids don't come with instruction manuals. Parents either mimic what they saw or try to implement what they didn't. At the end of the day ain't no perfect parent cause ain't no perfect person. It's so easy for us kids to point out they flaws, but don't know what it's like to walk in they shoes....if that make since. Parents are still growing up themselves while trying to help us grow up...they make immature decisions just like us - the only difference is they have no safe place to land when they display their humanity. I spent years being so upset with my mom until i learned her story, and met her biological dad with her when she was 55 years old and he couldn't talk because he had lung cancer. My mom had a life long list of questions and she couldn't get one answer because bruh had lung cancer. After experiencing this with her she began to open up about her childhood and this felt like they first time she felt heard and understood. Sharing this with her help me to understand why she was the way she was...and our relationship is 100% better! should she sought counseling before having children, YES! I just understand now and I honestly I don't think she saw it as a prob really she was so use to it that is was normal to her, but so toxic to me. Also, I am not dismissing her attitude/behavior towards me either. My anger towards my mom use to consume me and cripple me in a lot of ways now I am realizing that I hold the power to let it go and grow....

I know im late but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. When I was 12 my mom and dad left me and my 6 siblings with my grandma and uncle. I remember my mom telling me that she hated me when I was 10. Then I remember my dad telling me and her that he's gonna find a real woman and have a better daughter, it hurt me so much but I also remembered that my older cousin would always tell me I have to take it like a g. It was hard without them, especially since my grandma couldn't really move around and my uncle worked as a security guard and only got paid 4.67 dollars an hour. When I turned 17 I decided to get a job to help, then a few months after I found out that my parents had actually had 2 other kids it hurted me so much, that I started suffering from depression causing me to have to quit my job and go to therapy. One day when I came home from school I saw my siblings sitting on the couch looking at pictures of my parents and us. Then my little brother started crying and asked "does mommy and daddy love us" I couldn't answer him becuase I just busted into tears and hugged them. When I finished therapy I decided to find a new job. I eventually got a job as a lyft driver. One day when I came home my siblings came running to the door telling me that my grandma won't wake up. My heart stopped. I ran to the room to see my grandma laying on the bed and a note. in the note I noticed that she said she was getting sick. I felt like it was my fault I was so stuck up on the past that I wasn't paying attention to what was happening. 2 years later I now have custody of all of my siblings and my uncle lives with his wife and kids. My grandma is watching over us. Honestly I feel like God took my parents out my life because he knew they weren't gonna serve a purpose for me and my future.

Wow this video really touched me and will touch and reach many people who need healing. Like you, I was abandoned but by my stepfather. He was in my life and the life of my older siblings since I was approximately 7 years old. He seen me grown up and also seen my older siblings have children. Fast forward to be being around 19 years old, he just up and left and never came back. He and my mother were married and he started to have an affair with another woman. He moved in with her and carried on his life like we never existed. That was in 2008. I'm 30 now and I have never heard from him again. No apology, no explanation...nothing. What he did played a huge role in my relationship dynamics that I did not even realize until I started doing premartial counseling. But I forgive him and wish him well.

My relationships never last with guys because I can never seem to trust because I fear being abandoned. My father broke my heart before any man could so I keep my guard up which is another reason why my relationships go downhill. Like you said, I don’t expect anything from him. Abandoning children and step children is mother nature to black women thus why are people that surprised? Bro, hope you find the healing you seek but please do so with open mind and from a place of living your good self. Black men why marry black women when you know she's never there to uplift you when you are in deep mess rather she's only there for what she can get?

Everybody not the same. Trauma makes people react differently. The mother may really love her son, but NO ONE has the right to come out of their mouths to say that she doesnt. No one can speak bad about her. And absolutely no one should speak on their situation if its not positive.

@@MrJoennachi How is abandoning children and step children mother nature to black women?
Historically black women have been forced to give up children, birth children that were taken for profit but is that black women's mother nature?
It is not mother nature for any woman to abandon her child.

That was terrible. It hurt me so bad to hear you cry Tarek. She basically admitted she was out for her self and didn't even bother to check back, call, text, email, whatever after taking care of you for YEARS and no apology, no hug, no goodbye! You deserved a goodbye! I'm so pissed about that! And doesn't explain the house issue etc! If you had an 'abusive' spouse wouldn't you fight for custody or at least visitation! You are an angel for this and your sister is so very blessed to have you♡

My dad was in & out my life from 3-16. I hated him up until my 23d birthday. My brother tricked me into a convo. That convo was necessary. My dad apologized. He cried. I cried. Fast forwards. 8 years later....I’m a daddies boy. Getting the apology didn’t undue the hurt but it allowed for forgiveness. He stepped up & supported me. Didn’t care that I was gay only that I was loved & happy. Somebody needed this testimony. Thank you.

Tarek, this situation is a bit like the situation for my dad leaving. My dad left my mom, my sister, and me when I was 2 and growing up I thought nothing of it, but now I’m 16 and I’m asking my mom questions like, “why did he leave?” and “why did y’all get a divorce?” And it always goes unanswered by my mom and I’m not really comfortable to ask my dad these things. I love how you were able to talk to your mom and how open you were to it and I hope I could do it soon one day(maybe when I’m an adult) thank you Tarek you truly helped me see things from different perspectives❤️

Your stepmom beat around the bush. She never answered your questions to help you heal. She never took responsibility for how she acted which was selfish and she was concerned about herself and her children. You lived in the house and your Dad never touched her. And out of all of it she never apologized for you children being homeless and separated so she doesn't deserve forgiveness but for your healing I understand

What really got me about the whole convo was when she was talking about his relationship with his sister. She said "I'm not blocking it but I am very protective of how I let her do things". Now I can understand being protective as a parent but why would she feel the need to say that to him? He is her brother. Not a stranger on the street. What does his sister need protection from? I think it says a lot about how she views him and the situation.

    Hi
I have viewed some of your content in the past and can admit to appreciating what you share. At first; because I’m a older person, I didn’t think subscribing would hold my interest as per generation gap but lo and behold our humanism doesn’t discriminate. The subject of forgiveness is a life changing topic to explore Especially when you decide on a process to grow and have the support of those indirectly involved. I say indirectly because how long can we share the responsibility of our feelings before realizing we could stay stuck as life moves on. We can’t go back get back or change what was. If we decide to allow present day inclusion of folks then we will accept who they are and move on together or without them. Finally, the greatest part to me about Forgiveness is appreciating the experience as a way to identify principles and living by them. Sorry for ranting😊

It is not easy, but also to piggy back of the topic of forgiveness, but forgiveness is also extends into healing your inner child. So many of us in the black community suffer from fear of abandonment and wonder why we have so many relationship issues. Thank you for doing this. My heart goes out to you. 🥺💜🤗

Hey, Tarek! This video relates to me SO MUCH because my biological mother left me when I was very young, and we haven’t talked in six years, and she doesn’t really care about me, I haven’t forgave her ever since she left me because she basically ruin my childhood. My father basically took care of me, and my younger brother all of our lives, until he met my stepmom (my mom,). I can’t seem to forgive her because of all of the pain//anger she gave me, my father, and my younger brother. My stepmom is basically my mother, she took care of me - she supported me, she loves me, so she is my mom. I have a stepbrother, and a little sister (by, my stepmom//dad.) so this video relates to me SO SO MUCH. Thank you, Tarek for making this video and sharing your story!! ♥️
