I know this building very well. The council even moved all the graves with their little white crosses on them and builded a road over it and a new council housing estate. I played all the time in the graveyard when I was young.

There was no crazy shit in St Lomans, just accepted practices that were in use in different eras. A lot of really good people worked there. As for people going missing, the families knew if the were in a psychiatric hospital, the majority of the time the families put them there. People were left to rot in places like this because their families wouldn't take them out,the authorities at the time, right up til the late 60s couldn't just let a patient leave unless there was somewhere for them to go

Planning to leave it there abandoned from what I've heard, I used to live in the estate across from it (Lakepoint) and was so eerie going past it every day. From what I've heard, there is no bodies on site because of the new HSE buildings out back. Security is always there, very pissed off all the time, I'm only halfway through the video right now whilst writing this comment so I don't know if y'all seen security. Security will not physically go in the building, but wait for you outside as the sensors notify them hence the reason for the container out front which is full of security cameras connected to this place, whether or not they work. There is also teens that go around here vaping and smoking weed which I'd say would be the reason for the top floor being a bit mangled.

It didnt take much back in the day, up to the late 70s anyway I'd say, to get yourself sectioned in to one of these places by your family, like girls getting pregnant outside of wedlock, if you had some bit of clout or a good relationship with a parish priest and had a "Problem Child" it was a way to make that "problem" disappear. Out of sight, out of...
Also other good upstanding leaders of the local community, the Garda, priests, GPs, could do it, often used by them in a vindictive way,.even if a person wasn't acting up or behaving odd, according to their own (often suspect) behavioural standards. Trying to steal someone's property or inheritance, and god knows what other nefarious reasons.
Here we are, near the end of 2024, almost a quarter of the way into the new century and we are in a place just as bad, just as dark with this new ideology.
Ireland had about 15 /20 years, around that Celtic Tiger era, where it was a good time for being Irish in Ireland, no doubt probably the best time in centuries but it didnt last long.
Up to our necks in shite again.

Great video. Very respectfully done too and I agree about the waste ... how much money is spent on equipment for hospitals or nursing homes and all this stuff was just left to rot?
I've just listened to an Audible podcast called The Madman's Hotel about this place where a lady was trying to find the grave of her Great Grandmother who died there in the early 1900s...turned out all the crosses in the graveyard where pulled up and no markers where left to show where they were buried.

This is mad, I've never heard of it. How long ago were people going missing? There needs to be an enquiry into the place.
