I'm a very senior developer who's been in the game since 1981 and retiring at the end of 2024. Here's what I've learned. It is so important to manage your own career and skillset. Prepare when times are good by learning new up and coming technologies. Get credible micro-certifications from coursera, etc. Seek opportunities to use that learning both inside and outside your current employer. Don't be afraid to change employers. They have no loyalty to you. Quickly leave companies in decline. Quickly leave bad bosses. Consulting is a good option.
Thank you very much for the tips and congrats on the achievement! Hope you have fun in retirement 😎 Smaller companies usually care a lot more about employees than larger ones. Especially corporations don't care at all for you. Not just for lower jobs, but also managers. Do you agree?
@@andreaskayy I totally agree. Maximize satisfaction, income, and opportunity in your careers. All you truly owe a corporation is honest effort and a two-week notice. If you stay with a company through the microeconomic ups and downs, all you are earning is a better severance when your time comes.
Are you a junior developer? How do you feel right now?
