    If you suffer from accidentally changing patterns using the value knob before you've saved, there's a global setting to lock the knob so you have to use shift-knob to change pattern.

      @@spel2024 possibly maybe (Bjork song) you can easily update firmware, download from korg and put on sd card in folder. Read manual for folder names. Remember, korg block's downgrading back to old firmware to prevent switching grey version to sample with firmware substitution. But no big deal to find those firmwares and do it. Anyway newer firmware 2. better than 1.6 that used to sub's E2 to E2S.

    I’m the pianist and percussionist in my family, and my brother received something from Korg the other day so I opened it excited thinking he got a keyboard. Turned out to be this! And me being a huge techno fan, started playing around with it and thought it was the coolest thing ever. So now I have one on the way

    Not sure if you’re aware, but everytime you load an init pattern, it always gives you a four on the floor kick....also I think shift & tap tempo gives you quicker access to the tempo change...in fact every part button as an associated shift function.....the groove type options for the drums will also automatically change velocity and in some cases move ‘off the grid’. Hope you find these little tips helpful 😀

    There is an iOS equivalent to the Korg Electribe. It’s the Groove Rider GR-16 by JimAudio. It works very similarly to the Electribe but for a fraction of the cost, so if you want to see if the Electribe workflow works for you and you have an iOS device, check it out. Once you like it, then definitely get the Electribe as hardware is so much more fun.

    Shift + Tap -> goes to tempo menu
    pitch envelope modulation on kick samples helps a lot with dialing them in.
    arp is great for filling patterns with rhythmic content. mix and match different arps an time divisions.
    part erase is more for rhythmic muting. there is a clear sequence menu page accessible with shift + a pad. there is also a clear motion so you can clear modulation and note data separately.

    Nice video, short and sweet. I believe each pad/button + shift brings you to a specific page in the menu pages. For example, shift + pad 14 takes you to the erase part sequence data page. With a little practice, one can navigate the menu pages quickly by hitting a specific pad. Keep up the good work.

    This is the only groovebox I owned, and I have about a half dozen, that I actively hated with a passion. The only people who seem to like it have never used another groovebox. You can break off a branch from a tree outside and have a better experience by hammering on a cement sidewalk.

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  4 года назад +3

      It's definitely not for everyone, but I'd disagree with the idea that the only people who like it only own one groovebox. One of the things that made me want to get it was people who had used both saying that it would compliment my Novation Circuit well, and they were right. Both are dope for very different reasons and I'm glad I own both (plus the MC-101, which is like a hybrid of the two).

    • @Sypher474
      @Sypher474 4 года назад +1

      Would you mind giving us a rundown of maybe your top 3 that you own and why? I've also owned quite a number myself and while at first I was pretty frustrated with the Electribe, once I learned the shift shortcuts and understood the workflow, it became one of my most used devices for banging out ideas.

  • @TheHallucinati

    It's difficult but not as difficult as learning the entire music theory again from scratch. Maybe 1/4th of the difficulty of learning the entire music theory again from scratch, including all the scales, the drum beat rhythm basics, and your basic, beginner's Frequency Modulation Theory. Yes, I'm serious. It's that difficult. But it's worth it, and this is despite all the inadequacies of this little synth like part reverb absence or mediocre reverb in general, or inability to sample for the Synth one, offset by a huge, unforgivable loss of synths capabilities if you do decide to go with the sampler. Still, despite all this - this little (and uncharacteristically heavy) device is in a niche of its own. It has no competitors in its price range, and even beats a lot of the higher price range competition. I had to make my own type A MIDI breakout cable for it, because after spending $300 on it I wasn't about to dish out additional $30 for a tiny adapter that cost 25 cents to make.

    I have a question if anyone can help. Once you've created a tune that you like, is it possible to export it from the electribe to a phone or laptop?
    For example, could you freestyle for ten minutes but keep that session to listen at a later time?
    I'm using the red sampler fresh off the shelf....and I love it!
    I haven't even thought about using the SD slot yet though 😂

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  3 года назад +1

      You can export the individual tracks of a project to the SD card as wav files or an Ableton project. It's one of my favorite features of the Electribe.

    • @GabeMillerMusic

      Not really, it's pretty different. Each Volca does something specific with its own sound engine (analog subtractive, FM, etc), whereas the Electribe tracks are all pretty basic digital subtractive tracks.
