    In 2018 we studied the book of Daniel. We asked John Lennox on a visit to Cape Town if he would come and address us on Daniel. He had recently published "Against the Flow - The inspiration of Daniel in an age of relativism." This is the recording of the evening, held in the church to accommodate the large numbers.

    So clear, so helpful, so uplifting. I remember hearing John Lennox back in the mid 70s and his way of dealing with difficult issues from a clear Christian point has been a wonderful source of encouragement and help. Above all his constant witness to the goodness of God is an inspiration..

    This message is appropriate beyond most sermons given by many pastors today!
    God is with you, Dr John Lennox! Thank you for your obedience to Him, and teaching and sharing His truths with all people of all faiths and beliefs - that their eyes and ears be unveiled, and they find Him, Jesus!
    Pray God that in my corner, I may walk with God in His approval to reach the lost with Him, and encourage believers who are discouraged or confused!
    Thank you!

    I cannot say I understand the ways of God, but He told us in Isaiah that we would not be able to understand His thoughts or His ways. But with all my heart, soul, mind and strength, I want to trust Him completely like a child who trust their loving Father. How does He choose for us to suffer, yet He lives us. I do not know, but He does and it is for our good. It must be for our preparation for eternity with Him. He is a mysterious God. Yet He walks with us, talks with us, teaches us, leads us, comforts us, gives us prayers and answers the prayers He gives us. He is perfect love.

    In my humble opinion, Professor Lennox, is a gentleman, who through the power of the Holy Spirit, has been blessed with heavenly wisdom. He takes great care and concern to deliver truth in a way that is not a source of his own prideful arrogance. Certainly, many of the so-called great thinkers and philosophers throughout time did. I imagine that they’d struggle with not allowing themselves to get puffed up due to their elevated worldly intelligence in accordance to those they’d consider unenlightened, or in their mind, the lowbrows of society.
    Again, (in my opinion) Professor Lennox honors our Father in Heaven by using his blessings of faith and intellect by bringing glory and praise where it righteously belongs: Jesus Christ.

    Bible illiteracy is worse now among so-called Christians than it has been since before there was a complete corpus of the New Testament. Sometimes when I try to teach Bible, I feel like I'm talking to a wall, a stone wall.

      Paul Washer says to really listen to others, to give them time to talk about themselves & really hear them, then they will listen when you speak. So I asked myself if this was Biblical. Obviously caring about others is, but how much time should we spend contemplating the thoughts & ideas of others - then I realised that Jesus already knew all about people & demonstrated this by things He said to them. My quick prayer is "Lord help me to love this person well." 🙏 He will guide us.

      But Israel is the Church. Israel refers to the body of believers that believe in the one true God. Rahab and Ruth became apart of Israel when they believed in the one true God. It is not a matter of physical descent. It is why Paul mentions that to descend from Israel is not to be descended from Abraham but to have faith and belief just as it was counted a righteousness for Abraham because he believed.

    Daniel and his prophecy, is book written by many and his prophetic writings did not materialize, one reason why at lest a dozen messiahs were walking around Galilee in the first century. How did Daniel and his end up at the king court? It makes no sense. I have read Daniel from a author that breaks each verse down verse by verse. This man is just rattling on and on.

      @@damisa3392 the question comes to the fact, we live in reality and these writers didn’t. The story isn’t that sensible a teenager in a court that just taken him captive. A enemy that is in a kings court and helping Susanna and putting in a lion den by a Babylon King and a Persian King, it’s a fake. Nobody can be that delusional to believe that nonsense.

    • @joannquaid6037

      You think so? Many kings in history have been teens. I dare say that many people have not believed the World of God, which is their prerogative. Choice. That is what God has given us. You may choose different from me__ I will not in cannot make you choose truth of the Bible. You cannot laugh or scorn me into disbelief of truth.

    • @user-gb8fl4hk9x
      @user-gb8fl4hk9x 8 месяцев назад

      @@joannquaid6037 Daniel was no king, he was captured ward of Babylon, how can you be on the kings court in these circumstances. Like he took up for Susanna, as a teen? His prophecy was never materialistic right, the Bible is only stories written by persons unknown. According to what I have read he was put into the two different lion dens by two different Kings, it’s a fairytale without any evidence. How about Bel and the dragon, understanding scripture and doing some research you will understand more of the truth. If you take your Bible which I say is a version of the KJV, it doesn’t tell all that’s right,if you even read it which most Christians do not. They think that they are an authority just owning a Bible. I suggest reading the Daniel by Collins, and understand what he says. John Collins writes this book with no bias.
