I have been at Blood Mountain many times living in Georgia, My son and I did a night hike on one Thanksgiving day which felt like the coldest day of the year, we slept in the shelter and woke up that morning with snow on us that blew through the open window, unforgettable!
Hope you dont push too hard right out of the gate and get hurt or miss out on "the hike." Doing crazy miles, though. That's awesome for those who can. I'll need to take it much slower. Lol. Thanks for taking us along. Be safe. Enjoy the journey!!
Hi just thought I would explain the meaning of the 🦋❤️ that I use in all my comments. I was following a AT thru hiker a few years back, “Crazy Quilt”. In one of her vlogs she was having a really rough day. I wrote ,”I am sending this 🦋 butterfly with lots of hugs ❤️and encouragements. 🦋❤️. So I don’t alway comment when following hikers but I will post 🦋❤️.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK BROTHER, I AM PROUD OF YOU, I LIKE THE HEAVENLY VIEWS, THANKS FOR SHARING, BE SAFE AND STAY WARM, WE ARE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU GOD BLESS : )
Camped in the shelter with temp less than 25 F with high wind. About 8 of us put up tents, tarps, ground cloths etc over the windows and double door. A couple of short term hikers had packed in gas stoves from N.. Crossing and served us well until snuck in our bags
Great job man! If I hike the trail, I'm going to tell my wife to yell at me if I get homesick! I think it would help to have a hiking partner. Like Bandit and Bluegrass last year. I know I would need it.
I have a 1/8” closed cell foam pad that I use under my inflatable. It protects it from whatever is on the ground (shelter or otherwise), keeps it from slipping around on the tent floor, and gives me just a hair more insulation from the ground.
Gotta give you credit for the miles you are making early on, most don't go this far from what I have seen, even the kids. As for your wife she wants you to be there, she wants you to live out a bucket list item, or she would have not let you go. Smile because she loves you and keep on marching for Katahdin.
You're the first to ask. When my granddaughter started communicating well and walking, she laughed like a wookie and since then I've always called her wookie and she's my best friend
@@karens6053 That is the million dollar question. Missing Wookie is by far the hardest. My wife and I have been apart before but knowing how much she depends on me and the sacrifice she is making weighs heavy
@@wolfiehikes Wookie wants you to succeed Grandpa. Just go with the emotional ups and downs and keep putting one foot in front of the other. The good will far outweigh the bad days.
Heck of a day Wolfie! That’s some hard mileage right there. Enjoying the videos. Keep ‘em coming. -JB
Love your videos. Keep em coming.
Enjoy watching your videos. Safe travels.

I'll never get to do this. Thanks so much for taking all of us along. Bring your electric blanket for the Smokies!! Be safe.
Keep heading north. Look forward to seeing you at Spivey Gap

Last night a low of 4 degrees. I had to pull out my tent rain fly to protect me from the wind.
Might I suggest that when you pan, be it a view or in a shop that you move the camera far slower? Much of it gets blurred otherwise. Travel safe.

I found it much harder to get down blood mountain than up. The trail is all over the place.
So true. Eventually I just looked for hikers coming up and walk toward them.

This weekend Jan 10-12 expecting heavy snow up to 12 inches in Western NC/TN

It slows tomorrow. First zero
Way to go! What’s the story behind Wookie? Happy trails 🥾🥾

@@wolfiehikes You'll have plenty of stories to tell her Wolfie!
Doing great. Good mileage. Some lovely views. Can you speak a bit louder? Thanks!
Uh-oh... You mentioned the wife 2 times. Don't let the temporary loneliness take you off trail. She understands.
Good job getting over Blood Mt. 👊👊 Te-nasty gap! 🤓
Great job. How are you keeping your phone charged enough to film ect
A lot of airplane mode and a 20k amp hour Nitecore battery bank.
Please be careful, the weather will be nasty for the next week. Ice and snow.
Money shot views 👌
Slow the panning down. Way toooo fast
how you going to make 6 months, when you miss your wife on day 3?
