- Showing the inside of an e-bike hub motor, with planetary gears. This powerful 3 phase brushless motor with magnes can also be used as powerful electric generator, for clean energy projects.
*Works great my **Latest.Bike** I have a bad knee so I still get exercise but the bike assists me. I am a big guy so I didn’t think it would go as fast but it works great.*
Helpful video. However, on my engine (bafang type) the planetary gear does NOT come out, as I turn the engine the way you do. Could there be some ring blocking?
I've turned one of these to very powerful wind turbine , they generate a very good amount of power.
The narration was somewhat distracting
Hi nice video
Can anyone tell me what is the grade or category of the nylon used in this motor ?
My hub has started making a grinding noise and not working the nylon gears look ok is there anything else inside that can be slipping ?
Love this video, and love my cheap little, 250W, hub motor even more now.
Wahoo.Thank You. Nicely presented 👏....We needed to know weather we get spares of small 3nos Nylons gears(planetary gears) when worn-out.
Any advice on planetary gear? Is metal better than the nylon ?
do all e-bike hub motor use plastic gears (like the three shown on 0:50)?
is this a reducer? or the opposite?
Can you add Statorade to a planetary geared hub motor for improved cooling, like with a direct drive?
Hi. I have a 350 w geared rear hubmotor. Ot requirs me to put oil in after 3 months of use only 35ml. But what gear oil would i need to use. Many rhanks
can we use this for another purpose and is it possible to change the rotation ?
What is the name the curved pcb inside? Purpose? Please reply, 🙏🏽
Do they create a lot of rolling resistance, made of lightweight alloy? Can it work as generator or even allow regenerative breaking?
I think there is a one-way bearing inside.
Hi, I'm looking for a hub motor, to make a small bike for my friends 2 year old son, i think a single speed will be fine and walking pace speed , any ideas ? Thanks
This would be a good motor to launch him over the barn
Hello, I'm planning to buy a Q85 24V motor for a robot that I am building but it seems I cannot find a battery that would work correctly. I need to run this motor for 5-6 hours complessively in a single day. Could you kindly tell me what battery and what ESC can be used for this motor (24v ~9A)? Thank you
are these wheels reversible, i know they're 3 phase I believe so essentially a stepper motor, can you simply connect the wires in a different order to reverse the wheel. I'm thinking of building a small cart with 4 of these, so on one side I want the wheels to run in the opposite direction so that the cables are on the interior of the vehicle all around and protected
Are those 250 watt Hub motor casing pretty standard in dimensions? I'm wanting to buy a hub motor off of eBay for $100 will it do a direct replacement on my ebike.. Or do I have to change the spokes to fit my rim?
Most are the same bafang dimensions
a 3 phase full wave bridge rectifier... very interesting, do you have any info on the torque this motor is producing ???
20nm with 42v 10amp
Do one need to put new grease/fat in? and how soon? Thanks!
Wel een oud vid. Zie ik.
Maar waar komt dit setup er uit?
Which company makes this hub (with planetary gears)? I'm interested in buying to experiment.
I would guess that all hub motors are going to have planetary gears. I have a really cheap, bike, it was $600, with a hub motor and I love it. I duck paddle up really steep roads where only 4wds go down to the lake and it does not burn out, so I was wondering how they manage it. The planetary gears are a beautiful solution. You end up being able to regenerate some electricity going downhill, yet still, have nice gear selection.
In the Question of Metal or Plastic Wheels, I think, when a metal wheel is damaged, the particels will destroy the inside of the bowl
! When the theeths in the bowl are destroyed, The hole Engine will be trash, or?
Hi. Thank you for sharing this video. Do you know what are the numbers on the hall sensors.
i need the clutch, planetary gear unit , whats the make and model of this motor and could you give me the dimensions of yours to see if it would fit
Helloooo!!! How many teeth are on that sun gear???? Im dying to know
+ ring gear plz plz plz
Thank you for the video!
first time seeing this and i was curious, thanks!
Hi, could you tell me what is the difference between plastic gears or metal? I guess metal is noisy and plastic not, but is metal more reliable? Is it better metal than plastic?
***** thanks for your answer, I tried metal but did not buy, anyhow looked good and maybe I'll use it in my next bike.
Right now I'm using one which has a combination of metal and plastic, the both together as a sandwich and as far I did more than 1500 km and sounds as in the first day of use. I'm planning to use it at least 4000 Km or more. Let's see its reliability.
Hi Jorge, what is your top speed with this motor and what voltage are you using? I just got an e-scooter (Motorino XPh) and I want to upgrade it so I can reach about 75-80 KPH. I am looking at German-made because the Chinese-made is too cheaply made and not reliable. My scooter only has 200 KMs on it and already broke down. The controller is faulty I think?

I want to know which meterial are armature made
Hello,
Just one question please.
have you link where i can buy this motor ?
thx
aliexpress and I really do not understand how ignorant people are , you are using the internet and you still ask for a link try google maaaaaaaaaan
Make my motors like this, even more identical.
How many though?
What Watt motor was this? And how many magnets please?
Great video, thanks for sharing :)
You're welcome! I couldn't find a clear video online, so I made it myself.
Nice u
I was riding my fiido d1 ebike and the rear wheel locked up all of a sudden, causing the bike to skid off to the side with me on it. It seemed like something inside the rear wheel locked up, any ideas what it could be? It was a momentary thing, the wheel worked afterwards, but caused me to brake abruptly.
Actually there is a problem with my bike (i didnt take good care of it). Sometimes, the pedals don't work. What I mean is, when you turn the pedals, the chain turns the rear wheel, however, sometimes the rear wheel doesn't turn... its like pedaling backwards.
But sometimes it does work. Mostly when it is warm.
Its like there is some engagement pin inside the rear wheel that sometimes engages and sometimes doesn't..
Anyone know? many thanks!
I hope you've just bought a new wheel, man
It could be possible that your phase wires got shorted somehow.
SORRY! Which company made this motor?
Why are the gears made of plastic?
Cheaper to manufacture.
Tried to listen to people explain it and never got it. See a 1 min vid and i think i could build one of my own now.
anyone can answer my question? is this 24v and 250w? i just want to be sure salamat
How many gears does a motor like this usally have?
3
Plastic? Why use Plastic as gears?
Can you please tell me it's weight in kg,s???
What is the final speed? We can increase the number of poles (subjected to limits)

ok so those hub cant be converted to single side shaft motors , thanks for showing us
can you tell me what is motor's specification? thanks!
The one I have that looks to be the same is 250 watts & 24 volts.
@@stevenofford495 What brand is your 250W 24V ? and where can you buy them ?
@@hensch1974 Bafang. i got my wheel 'ex display' from Chainreactioncycles from a showroom bike they'd dismantled. It's 24 volt & I don't think theyre selling that voltage much on he European or American markets anymore.

I LIKE THAT. THANK MILLIONS
Are those plastic gears?
Nylon.
and thanks a lot for your excellent video. well done!
That's planetary gear!
Lol it showed you turning the hub backwards will alow the planetary gears just to pop off like majic
Yah Kahan Milega motor
Do I see plastic planet gears? Really? What's going to wear out first? And because this is a geared motor, how is the torque being reacted? Is it just going through flats on the axle and into the dropout, or is there some sort of bellcrank going to the frame? If you need a bellcrank to react your brakes on a beach cruiser, why don't you need one to react the torque of a powerful electric motor? Not only will flats wear the dropout and the axle interface, the oscillating loads (speeding up and slowing down) will also cause the axle nuts or whatever retention system is in use to loosen. And those plastic gears will also be seeing those oscillating loads. Duck!
How to add a back function?
reverse the battery - you go back to pedaling :D
Thxxx 👍👍👍🍀
it means much speed is reduced to get torque, then useless for high speed cycling
They use plastic gears because plastic gears don't need lubrication.
They are quieter too I imagine?
Yes, of course.
If I pay 2 grand for a ebike I want the motor to be made of proper components. Because I already took mine apart and found stripped plastic gears.
Another money making gimic!
Thanks for sharing!
Ese Tipo de motor termina fallando por los Engranajes. Es mejor Motor el de Acoplamiento Directo. :-)
Plastic gears are not very durable but probably easier to replace..
Thanks for the video
Similar to the 'gravity light' gear arrangement.
Как всё просто!
Does anybody know of a smaller motor that can produce enough power to move 200 lbs?
Smaller like the size of a Whopper jr (height & radius) shorter if possible.
thanx for the video

Want those plastic gears brake
Beauty
Is that plastic gear ,you have to be clowning !
nice!
Why the fuck do they use plastic wheels?! Obviously do they want the to break.
Well, They use neoprene for the two cogs on a derailleur right ? It might also be because they have to be non magnetic, So as not to interfere with the motor itself, They would be tested for reliability, And should outlast 3000 charges from the battery, Which should cover the manufacturer beyond the warranty
Do you know what the very most common occurring problem on hubs with plastic gears is? Yep, broken plastic gears.
And no, they don´t have to be non magnetic because the hall sensors are very close to the magnets in the hub. What I think is because of noise but metal gears can be side cut (or what it now is called, forgot) and that would significantly reduce the noise to a level maybe even better then straight plastic gears but then the manufacturer cant sell expensive plastic gears that would break.
dtiydr
Fair enough, If they are problem, I would want metal cogs too !
Dont be dumb, lubricate. Metal gears are crazy loud.
That's right! The varieties and capabilities of plastics are limitless. IF the motor is well designed, I want plastic gears. Otherwise, metal gears require mucho lubrication mas than just grease and will be noisier by far.

No reply to comments, Thumbs down for you............
Check my channel, I am using this (or a like) motor as a generator and I can light up lights and charge my cellphone with it. I can even make the inside of a toast apparatus red hot !
Why the wheels are plastic? Note that the 3 gears are on the inside of that shelf. Per wheel at least 2 to 3 teeth are having contact, so up to 9 teeth are delivering power to the outside. This reduces any wear problems.
So?
