7:41 There is actually a short spinoff novel of the BB murder case, with Naomi & L as the main characters. It's a pretty good read after you finished the series
One aspect of Death Note that I don't think gets enough praise is how it handles exposition and info-dumping, it does it better than most anime and TV shows in general. Some of the most compelling parts in Death Note are basically Ryuk explaining something about the notebook and hearing the thought process of the characters.
Nahh what you said around 2:45 I was wondering too because I forgot and was SO sad for Raye and his wife (and EVERYONE ELSE HELLO?!) put into the Death Note if they are indeed in that Purgatorial hell cuz ugh. Ef Light
Light really didn’t need to say all that when L showed him the news. By saying 'it might be completely obvious to Kira,' he basically challenged him and revealed his calculated confidence.
Concerning the FBI agent (it has been a long time since I watched the series, and I never read the source material), but it feels like two things might work in his favor to go to a normal afterlife: 1) it is unclear if he ever touched the Death Note paper, he wrote on it using cut out slots, but did his skin ever come in contact to where he'd be able to see Ryuk? I think that was unclear. 2) he didn't intentionally kill anyone with the Death Note like Kira has. I would expect intentionality would have a lot to do with how the afterlife functions. Since he didn't know, and could not reasonably expect that his actions would result in deaths, and he certainly had no intent to kill, I don't see why divine punishment should be applied to him.
03:00 Light needed Penber's memory of their faces to eliminate them. Light couldn't do it by himself. Plus Penber didn't know what he was doing and that he had the power. It's all on light.
I hope you watch old but good animes too and most of them are the reason why we fell in love to read mangas and watch animes up till now just like this one death note. These are some of my recommendations: 1. Full metal alchemist brotherhood 2. Code geas 3. Steins gate 4. Clannad
My teeth are too sensitive, so I can‘t bite ice cream too :( Btw, imagine if Light wasn‘t JUST watching in this magazine scene, just to try to shock/embarrass L 😂😏
I like to think that because Raye never actually touched, therefore never owned, the Death Note, that he still goes to heaven, but he did technically write the names with their faces in mind, but Light wrote the causes... yeah i I dunno, sorry. xD
His god complex is somewhat justified by the fact that he literally has a supernatural ability at his disposal, though he sometimes takes it completely overboard.
L just doesnt miss anything he is very impressive :) Light is quite a crafty son of a bitch he set things up nicely :) the most epic potato chip scene is here xD L aint that easily fooled it seems :) Ryuk was extra fun this episode :D
3:30 That is a good question. Raye Penbar never did touch the actual paper of the Death Note. Light had it so he only needed to write in the boxes through another paper sheet over the Death Note pages, so that he wouldn't see the already written causes of death that Light wrote. So like... even though Raye wrote the names, he didn't write the cause of death nor did he touch the paper. He definitely didn't touch the paper because he never saw Ryuk. That begs an interesting question. If say for example, you happen to have gloves on, and you pick up a Death Note. You didn't technically touch it yet, but you can still open it, read the rules, and use it. What would happen then? Hmmm...
Ryuk says that using it makes your soul unable to go to heaven or hell, so I dont think touching it is necessary. And IIRC, in the manga it's confirmed that neither heaven nor hell exist, so it might be just a joke to scare Light.
He wanted to seem normal but normal people don't eat potato chips one at a time. This is coming from me who eats one potato chip only in a single sitting. I also take one bite from cookies and ask for the crumbs of snacks my friends have and don't eat anymore than that.
Well, this show really wasn't supposed to be long like that, but unfortunately the anime/manga word has alot of greed people. But that's a conversation for the end of this anime...
The police officers shouldn't push them too hard in the investigation for Kira, they should take time off and get some sleep. And the flavour of the ice cream that the police officers are eating must be apple flavoured or maybe lime flavoured.
This is the FAMOUS potato chip episode. It is one of the more interesting examples of Light's mind at work. It also shows some of Ryuk's more interesting quirks, when he doesn't get apples. Of course, there's also the ice cream... Now, I will say that the subtitled versions are great, and the voices for each character are well chosen, and they do a very good job of conveying emotion. HOWEVER, I will say that when I saw a clip of this, in the English dubbed version, I ended up rewatching the whole thing with the English dubs. The English voice actor for this scene took it and REALLY cranked things up to 11. When you get through with the series, you might consider checking out the English version. The dubs a pretty accurate and congruent with the subtitles. The voices are well chosen, and the expressions are interesting, because of the contrast between the highs and lows. Typically the voices are pretty normal, like the subtitled version, but when Kira starts bragging, he becomes absolutely unhinged, and it's really fun to watch. Just know that to many viewers, the dubbed versions are just as iconic as the original series with subtitles. It is its own experience, and it's recommended. I would say Deathnote is like climbing a steep mountain. It doesn't take time to meander to the top. It starts out with a steady march, and it maintains an intense pace, until you reach the top... and then... I'm glad you are able to experience this one. There will be a lot to discuss when it's over.
camera episode is another great one, and the legendary potato chip scene too :D no anime has ever made the act of writing on a diary and eating a chip so damn fire
The Question about ray Penbar was realy good. i never thought about that. Can Ray go to Heaven or Hell? By the rule he used the deathnote so ithink he cant go to heaven or hell. And yeah if thats the case he will never join with Naomi for eternity. Thats realy sad.
A question that the show also made me ponder about going to heaven or hell is that even though Kira makes somebody commit "self delete", does that person go to heaven or hell? "Self delete" in many religions that believe in heaven and hell often say that if you off yourself, you can't go to heaven. So what happens if it's not your choice? Though the afterlife isn't explained in the show, it's still something I've wondered how it would be addressed.
I'm team kira but not because i agree with him. I would need to be psychotic to agree with his actions. But if L wins, it would just be a normal solved case where everyone is happy and the world goes back to normal. It's a bit boring. But if Kira wins, it's entertaining to watch his reactions and his god complex and superiority complex kick in. And it's kind of interesting to see what he will do after and what the world will become if he continues to succeed.

Raye did not touch the Death Note paper, he filled in the spaces in the envolope, paper was inside. Thats why he did not see Ryuk also. Poor couple, lets believe they are together. From this episode I really started to hate Kira.
E1: Light gets a magical, unknown, supernatural power unbeknownst to everyone in the world, including the conditions. When the murders start to get investigated, it could literally be anyone in the world, or at least anyone in Japan. E8: Light has been cornered twice, escaped out of sheer luck once, and is now L's prime suspect. And people actually try to argue that L isn't leagues smarter than Light.
Bruh L *is* smarter than light, bro managed to pinpoint his near accurate locate under 48 hours... While there is one dosadvantage light had It was.... His ego and overconfidence... And that *L* was his opponent opponent
@ Nah mate. No one is calling Light stupid. But you can find the fanboys claiming he's the pinnacle of intelligence under every single Death Note video.
E1 : L has been an anonymous detective for his whole life, no one except Watari knows his face or his name E6 : Thanks to Light's tactics of creating a division between L and the police, and then killing L's outside influences (FBI), Light successfully forced L to show his face to Chief Yagami aka Kira's dad. People just don't understand Light's plans, and it's sad. Light knew he would be cornered, but he was willing to take that risk in order to get closer to L. And that he did.
There are some plot holes with Death Note, like why can Light see Ryuk if the Death Note he uses belongs to another shinigami? Also Raye Penber used the Death Note, touching a Death Note has no consequences, using it to kill someone, does.
We aren't given the context to how the extra Death Note came into Ryuk's possession, it's possible that it transferred ownership over to him. (Shinigami do love to gamble, maybe one gambled it away)
@@Griffith-Did-Nothing-Wrong Not only is it possible ownership transferred to Ryuk, it's required for everything we see happening to happen. Therefore, we know with certainty that Ryuk was the owner of that notebook at the time Light found it.
@@t3rcx Spoilers If Rruk owned the Death Note then why is it that we see another Shinigami later on being able to be seen by those who touch the same Death Note and being allowed to take it back to the Shinigami world. If it belonged to Ryuk, then only Ryuk should be able to be seen by those who’ve touched the Death Note. If humans are able to see any Shinigami who’s touched the Death Note, then that same Shinigami should have already been able to be seen by Mello and his gang. Which wasn’t the case. Ryuk claimed early on that once the Death Note enters the human world and a human picks it up, it then belongs to that human. But we see this other Shinigami pluck this Death Note from Mello and carry it over to another Goon in order to see him. But Ryuk was supposed to be the Shinigami this Death Note was attached to and the owner being the goon. Why now can this new Shinigami be seen by anyone who touches the Death Note afterwards if Ryuk is still technically the Shinigami the book is attached to? Expanding on that, this Shinigami that appears later on should not have been able to enter the human world if Ryuk is the one the book is attached to. If the book was not truly attached to Ryuk, then Ryuk should not have been able to enter the human world. We see that when a Shinigami tries to purposely save a human life, that Shinigami either dies or ceases to exist. I’d imagine the same would happen for when a Shinigami enters the human world when they aren’t allowed to.
@@Griffith-Did-Nothing-Wrong Spoilers Ryuk somehow stole it. We know this because the previous Shinigami that the book was attached to goes asking around other Shinigami if they had seen where it has gone. These other Shinigami tip him off that Ryuk had it.
@ There is a rule that if you lose the Death Note for 490 days, you lose ownership of it. We can assume Ryuk stole it and had it for 490+ days. When Sidoh comes to the human world, he is invisible precisely because he is no longer attached to that notebook. However, the notebook Mello has is the notebook that Rem was previously attached to (after Light swapped ownership between Ryuk and Rem), so it has no shinigami. Thus, Sidoh touches it in order to become the Shinigami attached to the book, since the spot was vacant. After that, everyone who touches the book subsequently can see him. Also, Shinigami are allowed to enter the human world on their own for 82 hours. Once Sidoh attaches himself to the notebook, he is then allowed to stay indefinitely until the human who owns the notebook dies or gives the book back.
Fun Fact: Death Note had the highest budget in all anime. It’s crazy when you think about it. It’s not even an action focused anime like AOT or JJK. It was like 1 million dollars per episode. It’s 6 times more than JJK and that’s 15 years ago. That’s so crazy. That Potato Chip scene for example was so expensive and extra for no reason LOL
after having my sister get SA/murdered by a stalker that the police refused to do anything about until it was too late, I'm on side Kira. The justice system is too lenient on criminals and protects them. That leniency emboldens them to do whatever they wish with no consequences.
Ok, so to clarify the thing about heaven or hell to EVERYONE who has seen Death Note: In DN universe THERE IS NOT A HEAVEN AND THERE IS NO HELL. Ryuk tells Light that he shouldn't believe that somebody who has used the death note can go to either. Later on is extended in the manga that the way Ryuk said it was mischeviously missleading (fitting of Ryuk). A person who uses the death note can't go to heaven nor hell, BECAUSE THERE ISNT EITHER (independently of the use of death note). The more accurate description is: all humans when they die, go to Mu Mu is a concept derived from Buddism that can somewhat be translated to "Nothingness". This means that the "self" of a person, disapears when they die. They don't have a "soul" that "goes" somewhere. They just, seize existance forever. So, the reality is that out of all the humans that light killed, as well as R. Pember and Light himself once he dies one day, none of them go anywhere. They just, no longer exist, nor will they ever exist again. Ps. upvote it so she (maybe) sees it and gets clarification xd

Bruh L *is* smarter than light, bro managed to pinpoint his near accurate locate under 48 hours... While there is one dosadvantage light had
It was....
His ego and overconfidence... And that *L* was his opponent opponent
@@NAYANWAGH-b8f Yes, mate. That's precisely what I'm saying. L is clear, Light doesn't come close to him.
Nobody ever tried to argue L isn't smarter than Light, what people argue is that you people call Light stupid
@ Nah mate. No one is calling Light stupid. But you can find the fanboys claiming he's the pinnacle of intelligence under every single Death Note video.
E1 : L has been an anonymous detective for his whole life, no one except Watari knows his face or his name
E6 : Thanks to Light's tactics of creating a division between L and the police, and then killing L's outside influences (FBI), Light successfully forced L to show his face to Chief Yagami aka Kira's dad.
People just don't understand Light's plans, and it's sad. Light knew he would be cornered, but he was willing to take that risk in order to get closer to L. And that he did.

Interesting, you look like a different person watching Death Note than when you're watching Frieren. (Maybe we all do, come to think of it.)

of all the fbi agents, why did he focused immediately on raye penbar ?
Naomi was related to Raye and went missing.
@@t3rcx Spoilers
If Rruk owned the Death Note then why is it that we see another Shinigami later on being able to be seen by those who touch the same Death Note and being allowed to take it back to the Shinigami world.
@@Griffith-Did-Nothing-Wrong Spoilers
Ryuk somehow stole it.
How is this possible to be kira's side? What? Kira is just smart evil killer thats all
Lol easy

Ok, so to clarify the thing about heaven or hell to EVERYONE who has seen Death Note:
In DN universe THERE IS NOT A HEAVEN AND THERE IS NO HELL.
The more accurate description is: all humans when they die, go to Mu
Mu is a concept derived from Buddism that can somewhat be translated to "Nothingness".
The anime is great but the manga is a whole next level compared to it. 😊
