The era where everything tried to look like a gummy bear or it was swimming in the ocean, no in-between.
The colorful Apple era
The first forbidden fruit before tidepods
Interesting time for graphic design, I remember not really liking the aesthetic but time comes for everything and I like it a lot now.

That is..... an interesting way to put it lmao. y2k>Aero fight me
Frutiger Aero is the best examples of optimistic futurism ever, the yearn to have technology co-exist in nature was huge and could be seen everywhere from hand soap bottles to doctor’s offices. it’s no wonder why Frutiger Aero, Solarpunk, and y2k style have had an emergence in recent times, more people want Optimistic Futurism to come back

Back when the past was more futuristic than the future
I was SURE that by the 2020's we would actually have cute AI robots (all translucent, all colorful of course) making errands for us and stuff. Phones would be crazy; not these soulless all same-looking black rectangles. Streets would be so clean. Naturistic shit everywhere. And now I know: this aesthetic alone made me believe in such a future.
Instead, we got it backwards. This world increasingly feels more and more like an 80's sci-fi dystopia.
That's why Solarpunk is the only way forward from this hell. Solarpunk is the only sensible response to the almost Cyberpunk-like era in which we are living in.
Maybe Solarpunk will make Frutiger Aero a reality somewhere down the line...
for our grandchildren.
@@IsuiGtz I hope so, for the sake of this planet. But with the state that this world is in right now, I can only imagine it getting worse from here.
@@IsuiGtz Let's hope that after the early 2020s dystopia, the mid to late 2020s will become the start of a more optimistic and utopian age again.
@@IsuiGtz Ok that's cool and all but your first point is kinda sus
@@eedi_beedi You won't get the future you want, coming from someone who's been following a lot of these things and observing it. You know Bladerunner right? You'll be getting that, but 20x worse. There won't be flying cars for the average person, and the government will wage a war against the civilians, only allowing the highest earners of their political caste to be entered into their own 'utopias' of sorts. I guess the closest comparison would be Elysium.

The old future... the future we were promised, which ended so quickly
Now replaced by fucking retarded modern schemes I would end my life right now just to go back to this time :( why are we being forced the modern technology on us is beyond my belief this is evidence older technology is better than new technology and a lot more affordable. Now computers are going to get more expensive because of this stupid modern scam technology we should of stopped where we were at.
I know right? I remember as a kid during y2k then after when frutiger aero started being so excited for the future. Everything seemed so optimistic and bright. I wish a lot of times that we’d gotten that weird 2000s vision of the future, a much simpler place.
@@dawsonbalencia3119 i still dream about it to this day
we did everything they told us to do. its not fair.
i saw a tik tok about how it was the 2008 financial crisis that really spearheaded technology looking more "functional" and less optimism

Born too late to explore the seas, born too early to explore the stars, born just in time to experience both vicariously through entertainment mediums and live with a deep longing nostalgia for something you never had to begin with.

And early 90s borns, because we were old enough to experience this aesthetic outside of Windows XP and the Wii lol
I feel like us mid-90s and late 90s kids got to experience the biggest influence, we were old enough to experience the whole 2000s but young enough to call it our childhood
growing up in the late 2000s-early 2010s, this aesthetic was everywhere, and i never knew it had a name until now! this playlist is so comforting
we were robbed when Samsung erased the "water screen" feature
I read up on it a bit when this playlist came out, and it sounds like the name was invented well after the aesthetic, so that's probably why. (I'd never heard of it either.)
I love how wholesome this entire community is, without negativity, toxicity, anger, gossip and controversy; we are just a group of people enjoying the magic of concepts like liminal spaces and _nostalgia-core,_ just images and appropriate music.
Did not expect Nobody to release a Frutiger Aero playlist! Beautiful!!
Well, somebody did
There's a lot actually :D
Right??? Also, I've been into Frutiger Aero recently, so this video is oddly on time lol!
me too
I love it
my exact thoughts lol!
The last space in time before the debut of the iPhone, the death of VHS, and the advent of digital TV. Sure, the Internet was becoming a place to hide from the cold reality of a post-9/11 world, but it was still accessed via our ubiquitous (at the time) desktop computer, at home in the computer room or at the library. Windows XP for the win! Being terminally online was mostly impossible, unless you were a shut-in. Gaming also hadn't quite become the mainly online, DLC-powered monstrosity it is today. And phones were fun! Between Nokia, Motorola, and the Blackberry, there were all kinds of cool designs then. And mp3 players! Not everyone could afford an iPod, but there were all sorts of 256mb-1gig options out there. I remember my 512mb mp3 player very fondly; it was one of my favorite Christmas gifts, honestly.
We were connected, sure, but we weren't yet so connected that we became, ironically, more alone
Something that I've noticed over the years is that since these "optimistic" aesthetics where eplaced with the soulless corporate minimalism, suddenly the general optimism in society has disappeared. Everyone started becoming depressed after being fed those flat, uninspiring and effortless lines. I personally believe we should start putting pressure on companies to start pushing for these clear, bright, colorful and hopeful aesthetics and bring back a little bit of happiness to the world.
YESS 100 PERCENT AGREEE everythings so bland now its depressing we have to listen to music from back then to feel a bit more happy, society and large companies have failed us and have made us dependent on them and its destroying us and definetly younger children they're all addicted
i think we should have more designers and artists just come up with random stuff and say “that looks really cool” because i think people did that more before and it’s fun and looks nice like not everything has to be corporate flat colors and simple shapes like we can have some fun at least loll
Dang this is so nostalgic, calming, and beautiful all at once.
you talk!
The colorful transparent plastic electronics of the 90s/early 2000s, is one of the most appealing design trends to me.
It provided a glimpse into the inner workings, and was far more interesting than the opaque, non-repairable, adhesive-sealed black-boxes of modern electronics.
Those Nintendo 64 controllers with the see thru plastic were peak
Can't be sure wether we'd be happier living in such an era or not.
I guess for now I'll keep dreaming about a world we will never get to experience, and yet have the same nostalgic feelings just by imagining it...
or maybe soak in the present before it too turns into nostalgia
I'm a 90's baby and this hits the spot. 😯 Lots of sweet memories came flooding back. 💜
it's back let's gooo
I legitimately remember hating the 2000s and even the early 2010s, aesthetic and all, believing culture had peaked and nothing new was going to happen in my lifetime. Now I long for it! I wonder if that means in a couple decades I'll somehow miss the 2020s, interesting how that works.
yk what I'm happy with how tech looks rn, the excess plastic and bubbly design looks awful
Right I used to think it was so tacky and now I love it lol just shows how things go out of style then after enough time the nostalgia makes it desirable again. Like my dad grew up in the 70s and hates that aesthetic bc it's tacky to him but I love it bc I never lived through it
I love the retro inspired aesthetics that the internet has brought back to the surface. This and vaporwave are my absolute favorites.
We all thought everything would look like frutiger aero, then optimism died and we are left with a minimalist and souless world. I am of the belief that everything should have a form and function. Everything is all function nowadays with little or no attention paid to the form.
Especially true of a lot of architecture these days
it's 2005, and I'm about to close up the textbook with fish and bubble diagrams to sit criss cross applesauce in front of the box TV to watch Bill Nye talk about science and the ocean.
back when it was possible to buy a house
I LOVE FRUTIGER AERO!!!.

The one at 12:45 somehow makes me feel in a different universe. A universe where the internet still looked like that till this day, and life outside has become much more colorful. It's hard to explain it. But it really feels like we missed an amazing opportunity to see what the world would have become if we kept going to the path of trying to connect the future of the web and the nature of the world.
the music It's like sad optimism, the aesthetic it's like ecologic-90's computer graphic
Like someone said in a vaporwave thread, it's the vision of a future we were promised but that never came.
It's currently 4:38 AM right now and haven't slept, I've been hqving trouble lately sleeping and my usual music that I use to help me sleep doesn't quite work affectively anymore and that's when I bumped into Fruitiger aero. I just love how calming and nostalgic it feels along with the pictures with places that felt like we've seen in our lives long ago as a child, I genuinely love this kind of genere. "A future we were promised, a place from from the past."
YES ITS BACK
Frutiger aero and metro are such goated aesthetics. Growing up in the 00s makes it hit harder seeing it all make a. Comeback.
it’ll be as iconic as 80s neon and 90s extreme skater culture loll

Weird to finally be old enough to see new generations of kids romanticize the era i grew up in. For most of my life the y2k aesthetic and frutiger aero by extension was the epitome of outdated and unfashionable. I would agree that these were better more optimistic times but most of the surviving aesthetics are not truly representative of the way things looked or sounded. Over time ugliness tends to be forgotten and we only remember what was beautiful.
I would say time has refined the essence of the era, like one refines spirits in a distillation still & column or extracts essential oils from herbs and flowers. The beautiful & pleasing parts are concentrated but when they are diluted for use the uglier aspects come out in a controlled manner.
Yeah, the Frutiger Aero aesthetic is only part of the equation but it's been refined over time from the original ideas & styles from its native time period, and frankly is preferable to the ugly sterility of current styles like post-modernism, minimalism, and brutalism. Everything nowadays is flat, is some shade of beige or grey, and has the looks of a half-assed apple store and the comfort of a doctor's office.
I'm glad you're back, my day wouldn't be the same without this playlist
I audibly gasped when I saw this was posted, the fruitier aero revival is happening and I’m ALL IN

congrats he just released an underwater playlist
I really appreciate the fact that this playlist feels very different from the rest of the channel. But, don't ask my why, most of these visuals gives me the calm anxiety of the liminal spaces. So I don't know yet if I will listen to this playlist for my southing moments.
But still, really appreciate the effort! Keep it up
I've never heard the concept of liminal spaces described that way- as "calm anxiety." Fascinating. I guess that's another way to think of dissociation.
as an image of a static-filled silhouette of a kid on a tricycle once said, you can revisit the past, but nobody's home
All of these songs suffer from being too short, right when the vibe gets to the point where it takes over and hits its onto the next song
That Foreman grill really ties the room together. Ready for tendies.
I was hoping I wasn't the only person who noticed that. Also, good username.
I actually own that exact George Forman grill I got at a thrift store!
That flat green plain with the blue sky unlocked core memories for me.
I have just found my new internet obsession
my elementary school had those exact sets of Macintosh at the time, it was peak modernity 🤣
May the futuristic past never die.
The future that was stripped away from us
Finally, a playlist.. Needed for all of us.
That picture reminds me of my elementary school computing classes. Learning skills in PowerPoint, typing, and navigating the World Wide Web (yep, that's what my teacher from back then called it). I was in the first grade at the time, in 2000 or 2001. Recalling the aftermath of 9/11 and the state of the world even then. Whoa, this brings back so many memories. 😄
Edit: Also, does anyone old enough remember playing the Mavis Beacon typing game from back then?
I just discovered this aesthetic the other day. Really cool to see a playlist now. It'll be perfect for studying since I just started university!
Bro i am ascending, i may have been born in 2004, but i vibe with this so much im assending to the astral plain!
I still see this as futuristic. So sad to see it have gone by the wayside as I got older. So thankful to have experienced it all.
To be nobody, you are everything for many people
I can't belive he did it. He finally did it.
I am from 2008, that is, I did not get to know certain things that today the vast majority find nostalgic. For that reason I leave my comment here, because of the little that I know about those times, it makes me nostalgic, and these songs make me want to go back to those times where I didn't overthink and my mind was blank, alone. It was me and my imagination. It even makes me sad just thinking about it, how time goes by so quickly. Very interesting questions come to mind, when did everything happen so quickly? Where does that nostalgia that surrounds me come from, if the majority of images that are in the frutiger aero are objects, Windows games, and places that I never got to know
I have the same feeling
You are an intelligent person for asking yourself these questions at such a young age. I believe you may find these replies inside of yourself. Keep going ✨
YES!!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏THANK YOU NOBODY I LOVE THIS. I discovered this aesthetic recently and it brings back memories of when I always played on our Windows 7 desktop when I was about 6-8 yrs old. Also memories of the Wii, Nintendo 3DS, etc
