  • Have you ever tried to add a rock & go to your West Coast Swing patterns?
Using patterns like the Sugar Push, a Sugar Tuck, and a Whip, you can add a rock & go to the end to change it up and rock the boat! ;-)

I have a bit of a goldfish memory when it comes to dancing. So I just cycle through the same six basic moves and add styling. This will help me a lot. Thanks!

This is my FAVORITE technique to keep things fresh. You can use it at the end of almost every pattern.

Interesting, from other teachers I have heard that on the 5 (basing on a 6-count pattern like the sugar push) I should be rocking backwards, away from the follower, as opposed to forwards like you're doing it in this video. I feel like the real secret is in the rotation but I haven't quite managed to grasp it to the level where I can lead it consistently.

Yep! There are many different ways to approach these patterns. You'll see me using a bunch of different techniques. All and all I think I try to use the techniques that get the best result from the most students but the approach you mentioned is right on as well. It's what I would probably prefer to use at the higher levels as well but the way we do it in the video should work as a mass approach. Thanks for the feedback. Keep up the good work and thanks for the support! -B
