Peugeot Rapport Restoration - Part 1

- Part 1 of my restoration attempt of a vintage 1980’s Peugeot Rapport bicycle that was built in South Africa and my failed attempt at giving it a fresh coat of paint and decals.
The bike was built with Carbolite 101 tubing and is sporting a Shimano Sport LX groupset. It has Weinmann brake levers and what I think are Weinmann calipers. The frame is 53cm CTT and 54cm CC on the toptube.
Here’s the link to my restoration of a classic Peugeot Classique in which I talk about the history of Peugeot bicycles in South Africa

I've a friend who always says 'every day is a school day' - great video and looking forward to seeing part 2
Jamie Forbes I like that, thanks for sharing it. It's certainly like that when you're into restorations 👍🏼
Nice work, thanks.
Thanks for sharing your mistakes. They are a good learning opportunity. Also, RJ the Bike Guy is great. He's helped me, too.
Love the honesty and unedited mistakes with masking. Looking forward to Part Two. Benzine should clean off any sticky adhesive reside with no damage to the paint. Great videos!
Thank you, I’ll give it a try next time 👍🏼
For certain it will be well worth sanding down and respecting after the 1st decal mishap. BTW - I’ve had good success removing safety levers. I grind down the ends of the nut and bolt as needed to slip a hood over. Please Keep the videos coming.
I agree with you - if you're going to do something then do it right.
can't wait to see the build and final finish
during the meanwhilst Absolutely, I've actually got that scripture on one of my new cupboard doors, I'll share it in the next vid 👍🏼
Hi I have only just came across your channel and now a new subscriber, your work, information and history is very intersting. Looking forward to part 2.
Dinsy Cycling thank you, nice to have to onboard 🙏🏼👍🏼
@@BuffsVintageBikes your welcome, I do restoreations myself but never filmed any of them my look into doing some.
Dinsy Cycling it adds a new dynamic and is sometimes more time consuming than the actual restoration. As a result I only make videos of some of my restorations, the rest I just take before & after photos.
I was about yo subscribe when i notice that i am a subscriber already...and i know it wasn’t because of this video....although i am very impresed about this video....also i subscribe to “rj the bicycle guy”
besamemucho5 thank you, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
Can you please make a Video about making your Decals?
Especially the rigida for the rim. Shown in an earlier video
Thanks for the feedback, I'm still very new to creating my own decals but if there's a need, I'll have a crack at creating a video.
Suntour was never bottom, more like top?
Like Shimano and Campagnolo it had different models in its lineup of components, some were better than others 👍🏼
No, suntour mid range was top range for other brands
