As a pub owner i can say that alcohol sales represents only a small portion of our revenue. 75% food 10% soft drinks and hot drinks 15% alcohol half of which is wine. "I've just lost my child, f off" I said to the woman who moaned to go away and leave this poor woman alone, if she needs a fag then you move and I gave the mother a hug whilst she sobbed her heart out. I realised how trivial people moaning about smoking was. That lady had just experienced a horrific event, and smoking was the least of her worries.

I was at my local hospital, and a woman was trembling having a cigarette. An older woman said to her, "Don't smoke here. People are ill, then tutted." The woman smoking lost her absolute mind and was screaming. "I've just lost my child, f off"
I said to the woman who moaned to go away and leave this poor woman alone, if she needs a fag then you move and I gave the mother a hug whilst she sobbed her heart out.
I realised how trivial people moaning about smoking was. That lady had just experienced a horrific event, and smoking was the least of her worries.
If you live in Wales this isn't surprising as Drakeford used COVID aa an excuse to ban pubs from serving alcohol when really it was about his puritanism about alcohol
Hope they do same to the bars in parliament, they can’t continue have them subsidised whilst they driving the working man gets bit of pleasure in their downtime
If the government are serious about stopping smoking then stop importing cigarettes and tobacco, if they are serious about banning drink, shut all pubs, breweries and distilleries and ban imports. They can then dream up on how to piss people of by banning something else.
