This band is everything. Not one single person I know listens to this music. Wish I had someone to talk about the great energy you get from listening, but I guess I’m glad I’m the only one. This band is unique to me. 25 years old, young listener, and motivated by these wise men! Keep it up!!
I'm a 44 year old dude. Neurosis has been such an important band for me for half that time. Gotten me through so many painful and nasty times in my life. A life long weapon to battle those hard times that seem to be too big to deal with and then... the hugeness of the riffs and lyrics wash that shit away. So happy they keep putting out records.
You dont need anyone to enjoy your life man, just do you and be happy. Not everyone is going to understand your love for this music, and metal fans are generally introverts, but this music is not about other ppl, its about you and what it makes you feel. We all share that experience but we all experience it in our own way. Just enjoy and let it fill you with joy and love, and release that love and emotion and positivity into the world.
I see this post is double layered. You're right that Scott's badass in a sense they continued with their passion and their vision and their sound and gained a very dedicated following based on their talent. But Scott well... Scott is bad and Scott is an ass! I just pray that Sarah and the children are okay. No one deserves mistreatment like that
I like the fact that, at 1:39, Scott mentioned of adding in keyboards for the next step to make their sound evolved, but to weed out those who weren't going to give it a chance. I respect him and the band of making this bold move in order to get where they are today.
I've seen Neurosis twice and I met Scott last year at one of his solo acoustic shows. Seeing him again with Godflesh in two weeks. Hope to meet him again.
Need a part 3! But that was a really enjoyable documentary. Very rare to see Scott even acknowledge the Through Silver in Blood album. That's also been kind of the third rail in interviews.
last december i watched neurosis in my country, argentina,it was the best show of my life, hands down, also my sister and i got a picture with this beast,my favorite band playing in my country, man,i´ll never forget that night, neurosis rules
My favorite band. In 2002 or something I was 19, just listening to electronic music from the 90's (trance goa, hardcore techno) and a bit of rock. But for me rock was 3:30, with a chorus. I was talking shit on a forum or something, and said I didn't understand the value of a 10 min song. One guy told me to fuck off and to listen to Neurosis. I think it was Stones from the Sky I downloaded. I went to a store (a Virgin Megastore, they still had those in the day) and bought A Sun That Never Sets, then a few days later Times of Grace, and in a few months I had every album. Like Scott said, I could feel those emotions transpire in the songs even though I could sense it wasn't really that technical. It was very challenging though. I got into Times of Grace and Souls at Zero very quickly. It was destruction, apocalypse but also catchy. With time I learned to love Enemy of the Sun and Through Silver in Blood. And what was amazing at the time is that several friends of mine loved it as well even though they weren't into metal at all, the hardcore singing and growls didn't bother them to my pleasant surprise. One of them I think had the same experience as I did and loved it. It just has that timeless quality. It is sad though that as with many other bands, their best and most powerful albums were done in times of duress, with, like Scott said, drugs and grief and other shit. The Eye of Every Storm is the last album I can listen to over and over. After this one, it just didn't connect as much with me any more. It was stuff I'd already heard in post rock bands and stuff, with the occasional heavy riff. But I still respect them, they made some of the best albums ever. I also remember that when I was a smalltime member of a webzine, reviewing metal records, I e-mailed them for an interview and was shocked that Steve took the time to answer at length every single one of my questions, for such a small French webzine. Amazing guys really. Bands like Neurosis are extremely rare, the last thing I thought was close to a 90's Neurosis album was This Gift is a Curse - I, Gvilt Bearer. It has some of the heaviest shit I've heard, check them out if you don't know them. It's a fucking concrete block in your face.
Thanks for sharing your story! It's amazing, as Scott said, that Neurosis means so much to people. Myself included. I'd love to be part of preserving their legacy in some way.
I hope this guy is doing well. I hope everyone close to him is doing well. This band, these guys are really important to a lot of people, and I know we’ll never have the chance to see them again. I just hope that things get better and everyone is able to heal.
thanks for producing these, neurosis split my head open back around 99-2000. there was so much metalcore going around back then, this band and isis blasted me down into a later stage of my life when i discovered them. this isn't party music. very personal. the very bottom for me. can't wait to see more of this!
Far and away my favorite band. So many great albums but Through Silver in Blood really tapped into something deep like nothing I’ve ever heard. If you get to see them live get as close to the front as you can. Being in the Bay I’ve been lucky enough to see them 50+ times and it’s always powerful. Maybe don’t stand right in front of Scott though, I think he spit on me like 4 times at the last GAMH show with Converge and Amenra.
Was right in front of Scott a few years ago. His spit caused my ex to puke. Best show ever. Waited almost 20 years for them to be close enough to see. Now they're playing my shitty backwoods town in a week.
Sad to see Scott had to cancel his European tour with Mirrors for Psychic Warfare. He's my favorite musician of all time and I just want to see him out performing and making music. But maintaining mental health is always the toughest fight. Hope he pulls through.
Fantastic doc guys! I had the privilege of seeing Neurosis live for the first time this year and it was everything I could have hoped for. Their records are lovingly recorded of course, but they are simply a force of nature in a live setting, and you're doing yourself a disservice if you pass the opportunity to see them.
I try to see them every chance I get. One of the only bands I've had to pull my hand off the mouse to stop from buying a flight to another country to go see them. And I was already half way around the world to see another band / project 😂🌍🤟 they play so infrequently but every time is an event!
souls at zero was the first "metal" album that blew me away, as I was coming from a punk background and it had that intensity, because they come from punk also. it seems like that is the album he is talking about that was so hard to tour, not through silver in blood as some other people seem to think
Amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing your story, Scott! And thanks for reminding us all that getting help and getting better and creating a family to lean on is important! Much love to you, sir 🙏❤️
I was very lucky (read old) to catch them in Rapid City a bunch of times in the late 80's and early 90's. I really loved The Word as Law, but when Souls at Zero came out, it changed the landscape of punk rock forever. Fugazi and Neurosis both changed the punk scene, obviously in different musical directions, but the impact is similar. Life changing.
So on point. If you discover Neurosis and connect to them, this will be one of the most significant things in your life. I've only seen them live once, and it was a spiritual experience. Had to spend 8 hours on a bus for this, so worth it lol
I LOVE Through Silver in Blood but I also love Enemy of the Sun and I think Enemy of the Sun is a greatly understandable valued album because of the album that came after it. I know it doesn’t matter and is completely objective but I always go back and forth on which of those two albums I rank above the other.
Burn a duber and selfishly fade in and out of existence for a short period of time ....I think we could all use that.....thank you so much Nerousis...I've been drumming since 93...so I look and hear music different I can see the changes coming and it is pretty awesome to trail along ...
Awesome people and person had the opportunity to talk with the Scott a couple times 1 and a super personal manner that my friend's little music store already played solo although I wish I got into Neurosis like 10 years earlier my life would have been so much better cuz they played my town early on I didn't see them until like 7 years ago
The only time I saw them in Brooklyn I wore my Philadelphia Flyers hat and went to the merch table before the show and bought some stuff from Scott and he didn't have it on then but when he went out onto stage he had a Philadelphia Flyers hoodie on for the first song and then took it off so awesome
I always loved souls at zero and enemy of the sun the best. I didn't really like Through Silver and Blood as much when it came out. The beginning of souls at zero is epic.
You know what, some artist don't talk about moments when their own songs, sound and lyrics hi them like it does their listeners, but when they do they are either some of the best performances you may ever witness!😑
I'm really new to neurosis, and am mainly here due to Mastodon - whats the specific album they played for 2 yrs live he is referring to in this video ?
Why would anyone turn their back to a great band just because they bring a keyboard in? Reminds me of some of the Trv Kvlt mentality you see in some Black Metal circles…
There's no denial. Neurosis is the greatest.
Damn near
This band is everything. Not one single person I know listens to this music. Wish I had someone to talk about the great energy you get from listening, but I guess I’m glad I’m the only one. This band is unique to me. 25 years old, young listener, and motivated by these wise men! Keep it up!!
25 years old here as well. The work of these men is my life, dude.
I’m 26 and I just wish they would tour uk soon and hope it’s with amenra and converge would be amazing
There's quite a few of us mate

Scott Kelly is a bad ass. Huge respect for Neurosis for writing and playing the music THEY wanted to write and play. That is rare these days.
Jason Pitts hell yeah
Yes sir I got my favorite number 37 likes

A Sun That Never Sets is so under appreciated. Stones from the Sky is the greatest closer of their entire discography imo.
CarlHH777 agree whole heartedly
that album is their best
Yeah that’s my favorite.
yep my favorite aswell
So so heavy
for me they are the best band in the world. they saved me several times. i wanna thank em they are still there.

The pure emotional release of a Neurosis show. Nothing better.
Need a part 3! But that was a really enjoyable documentary. Very rare to see Scott even acknowledge the Through Silver in Blood album. That's also been kind of the third rail in interviews.
They should do all 5 members. Get all sides of a big and important story. Well done vid.
Enemy of the sun is impressive, no words Neurosis is the megaband.
last december i watched neurosis in my country, argentina,it was the best show of my life, hands down, also my sister and i got a picture with this beast,my favorite band playing in my country, man,i´ll never forget that night, neurosis rules
Hell yes! Congratulations! My first Neurosis show is still one of my favorite shows I've ever seen so I am right there with you.
Through Silver And Blood is definitely a game changer, not just for Neurosis but for all of music.
Thanks a lot!Very interesting 4 Neurosis fans.Among Top 20 greatest bands in the world

their newest album "fires within fires" is really good...it will grow on you...
Thanks for sharing your story! It's amazing, as Scott said, that Neurosis means so much to people. Myself included. I'd love to be part of preserving their legacy in some way.
Given to the rising is an amazing album I haven’t heard many of the others after storm but everything I check out from them I love.
Totally agree. they kinda repeat themselves after eye of every storm.
Saw them August 9, 1990 and I haven't been the same!
I hope this guy is doing well. I hope everyone close to him is doing well. This band, these guys are really important to a lot of people, and I know we’ll never have the chance to see them again. I just hope that things get better and everyone is able to heal.
Dave mopping up spilt water at the end without missing a note.
that turning point when they made Souls at Zero is so awesome to witness in their music. My favorite album by them, i love it.

Great documentary. I saw Neurosis with Converge and Amenra last month in Portland. So fucking powerful and moving.

Scott is just incredible....evolved human....Neurosis for life...
Amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing your story, Scott! And thanks for reminding us all that getting help and getting better and creating a family to lean on is important! Much love to you, sir 🙏❤️
Thank you Scott. Love the way you present a song brother.
Scott, much love and Neurosis have been the soundtrack to many times in my life and continues to be. Love ya guys!

what a stunning location! wish I lived somewhere near that kind of dramatic nature.
Thank you Scott and Revolver, I needed this.
So on point. If you discover Neurosis and connect to them, this will be one of the most significant things in your life.

Deep in the pit.Neurosis was the only music I could listen to.It helped to know that someone else has been there.
Pure love.
That's it.
Neurosis always has a space in my heart for life
Such a great band
Really well done Revolver. I've been watching this over through the years.
thank you revolver...excellent...
Bring back KMBT! Need Scott and Dave Clarke's podcast back in my life.
This band is something else
Quality stuff. Inspirational.
Please never die! Love u guys !
5:15-5:18 Speaking about bringing strife into home life…
Neurosis is like the metal version of Swans from a song structure perspective
I was thinking the same thing.
It is a very significant thing to me.
Souls at zero will always be special to me.
Power Of Thought.
Burn a duber and selfishly fade in and out of existence for a short period of time ....I think we could all use that.....thank you so much Nerousis...I've been drumming since 93...so I look and hear music different I can see the changes coming and it is pretty awesome to trail along ...

My heart for deliverance
beautiful oregon back drop!🤘
Been to a hundred concerts. Neurosis is still the scariest pit I've ever seen.
11:02 - Dave wipes up a spill on stage. That was rather considerate.
good doc
9:45 = One of the fattest and most powerful riffs.... Hail Neurosis.
What song is it?
Dan Giampietro The Doorway
❤
Get well Scott!
You know what, some artist don't talk about moments when their own songs, sound and lyrics hi them like it does their listeners, but when they do they are either some of the best performances you may ever witness!😑
Thank you guys to the hilt😎
Scott Kelly you are a legend love neurosis my first album was through silver in blood one of the best of all time nothing but respect for you guys
I love that wishy-washy sound that use I always try to figure out what it was phaser or whatever
Best band ever! Anyone know from which live set is the last 2 mins of footage from?
Rip the greatest
The greatest fucking band on the planet
💙💙💙
I’m glad I didn’t get into them back in the 90s .my friends were, I was a wreck. Him talking sounds like my conscience talking
Maybe there is something here you can take from and turn it into something useful to you
To all who read this:
May your path be a blessed one..
I'm really new to neurosis, and am mainly here due to Mastodon - whats the specific album they played for 2 yrs live he is referring to in this video ?
'Through Silver In Blood'. They pretty much made the decision to cease touring full time after that one.
can anyone point me to what gig it is at 3:55, seems to be a pretty savage one :)
ruclips.net/video/uXMIjsPC5Ro/видео.html
what was that song they were playing at the end
The song is called THE DOORWAY from the TIMES OF GRACE album.
Can someone tell me the name of the last song ????
The Doorway off their Times of Grace album.
Man wath is the name of dat song at 9:00
Broken Ground
Muchas gracias

5:30 well that didn't age well...
Makes perfect sense. Couldn't have aged better.
I just wish they'd up the intensity a bit
as scott says if your not along for the ride they are doing the right thing.
Haha you silly 😋
you should take all scott kelly videos down!!!!!
😂😂😂😂
