  • As Easter has come and gone we have arrived in the beautiful forests of the Belgian Ardennes. We are still amazed at how quiet it is and haven't struggled to find official aires and camperplatts either for free or for a modest charge, often with electricity thrown in. We haven't seen a UK number plate for weeks and it feels like we are the only Brits down this way. Why aren't you here?
Belgium is a little concentrated country of landscapes, culture and history. It's friendly and easy to get around...we're finding the roads a bit hard on the old bones though! Nevertheless, we are enjoying our trip so much we might spend all this tour in Belgium and Luxembourg and leave the Netherlands for another time. There's so much to see and do.
If you haven't seen our previous vlogs on Belgium (this is #5) then subscribe and catch up! We've also got playlists from our France/Spain Autumn tour and UK Winter Motorhome life.

Very enjoyable watch. Thanks. Where did you shop for food etc in Belgium and how does it compare to UK prices?

All the usual places, Lidl, Aldi, Spar etc pretty similar to UK prices although meat is a little more. Thanks for the feedback 👍

Thanks for showing us an area I had not thought about but might now consider. Do you think I would be able to do the walks you did on a mountain bike as I have mobility issues? Also what battery capacity do you have in the van and did you have to make any sacrifices to go 3 days off grid? Enjoy the rest of your trip

The whole area is well set up for mountain bikes, you’d be good. We only have the typical standard motorhome power set up. A 95ah lead acid battery with a 100w solar panel (looking to do some upgrades when I’m back in UK. The hab lights are all LED so not much draw, heating/cooking is gas. We tend to watch 2 hours TV in the evening. The small amount of sunlight during the day was enough to too us up while we were out walking. We also have a power bank, the smallest EcoFlow River (268kwh, £249) which we use to power a laptop and as a back up for phones if hab battery was to go low.
Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated 👍🇧🇪

@@Eurosullythanks will definitely go now. Luckily we have two 95ah leisure batteries so should be fine, whilst Lithium is the future I think the costs of upgrading cannot be justified to a Yorkshireman😊
