    I enjoy working with flashlights and seeing what is new on the market. In many cases, as the technology gets more complex, the price of these flashlights continues to go up and up. In some cases, it prices us right out of the light. This is sort of the case with some of the OLIGHT flashlights with the new proximity sensor and lighted switches. The price climbs quickly, but the safety factor is there.

    I can't speak for Thrunights warranty stuff. But Olight? They have my business. a friend gave me a pistol light, he lost the quick connect part. I emailed the and asked if I could buy that piece. They sent it free, had it in 2 days. I asked them again if they are SURE? cause I was not original owner. They insisted and said they stand by there product. That impressed me to no end. I already bought 2 lights for my truck, will be buying 4 more soon.

    Hey Brian! Nice to see another video on flashlights put out by You.
    There are a lot of great torches out there today, and a few really good Manufacturers. I tend to be a Nitecore fan, but I’m not sure where their focus has been lately? ( No Pun). ThruNite makes some good and affordable lights, but I do not own any.
    I just recently took advantage of a sale at Longhorn Tactical, and picked up my first Olight, a Warrior 3S, in black aluminum. I was really impressed by the packaging, and thankful the nice box survived the shipping, despite the LOUSY padded bag Longhorn used! It took awhile to get used to the UI, and I had considered returning it, but now I have to say, it has fast become one of my faves! It has a big distinct hot spot, as you alluded to, and has good reach, and on the higher levels, the spill works out nicely. It is.a really good combo beam performance!
    As James commented below, I think the Titanium would be preferable; for its strength and durability. If one didn’t need the distinction of owning this, or the durability, I’d go Aluminum. Just my 2$! 👍✌😊🔦 🇺🇸

    I notice that ANYthing that has titanium rubbing against anything else also gives that 'gritty' feeling. It's as if it's a really 'dry metal' or something, if that could make any sense. My titanium pens all have that same 'gritty' feeling too... Like nails on a chalkboard.
    I usually spray on a few coats of dry lube on the threads, which seems to help a bit. (I find Super Lube Dry Lubricant to be the best, as it is also food-safe - and doesn't stink.)

    I have fenix tk16v2, looking for another with longer throw and still good spill. I'm looking at the nitecore p23i, says it can hold high at 1,500 for 2.5 hours. Do you have any recommendations? also have marauder mini showing up in couple of days.

      I hate when reading the Nitecore site that they tell you that either the runtime was tested without the temperature regulator or that it was in lab situations and you should expect different results. You will love the Marauder Mini. I like both lights in this video. IMHO, flashlight companies are getting hosed online about the short "turbo" runtimes and are changing the quality of some lights. If you wait for 6 months or so, there are some changes coming that could make you want new again. You might want to wait if you can.

    Has anyone found the side switch on the Thrunite to be too sensitive? Turns on in pocket or bag?
    If they would make this with a metal side switch that is slightly indented to prevent accidental activation, it would be near perfect.

    Olight has a summer sale going on so I was considering the warrior 3s until I seen it was $100.00 on sale (retail $125.00) if it would have been cheaper I would have gotten it. Then I was considering the warrior 2 mini as it was on sale for $75.00 with an extra battery (retail $110.00) but I don't like that you can't turn off the proximity sensor like you can on the warrior 3s so I decided not to get it. I did get the baton 3 premium edition for $64.00 (retail $99.99) an obulb pro for $23.99 (retail $39.99) the o-hook for $8.00 (retail $10.00) and a magnetic charging cable for $7.00 (retail $12.00) everything came to $108.00 after tax so im pretty happy with that . I also picked up the thrunite tn12 pro for $39.99 on Amazon which is arriving today. Ultimately the thrunite is a better light than the warrior 2 mini and a better bang for your buck than the warrior 3s IMO. Don't get me wrong I still want a warrior 3s and would have got one if it had been on sale for $85.00 but I'm happy I opted for the thrunite and can't wait for it to arrive today 😊

      I got the gross camo warrior 3s which I can just change if I want to, but I also got an o-pen and two more flashlights, all for $85 which included tax and shipping. So I had to do the deal. I see many flashlights that could be seen as better if you’re just going to buy one light, but I’m kind of obsessed and I could never really justify olight for the price, but having it so low is great, it’s definitely high quality. But I still carry a ton of random lights. I find myself using a nitecore p20ix the most for my main light, but I usually always have a smaller edc light as well. All I know is that’s kind of my standard to good quality and function and capability, so if I can get something cheaper than it’s $120 price tag, I’ll probably get it, if it’s close to it or above, it better have advantages and if it doesn’t, probably not on my list. Thrunite has great lights, but there might be one day you justify an edc light that isn’t spectacular in any way except for a design and finish that makes it cost over $600. And if you already do that now, there’s no reason not to get an olight. Right now they are $95 for the warrior 3 s. But if you want even brighter, the seeker 3 pro is on sale, even in the limited edition blue, as long as you don’t need a tail switch.

    Aluminum has always been lighter than titanium. Not sure why that is surprising to anyone. Aluminum is also a better heat conductor, and which is the reason why the titanium variant of the Olight has less peak lumens due to heat issues compared to aluminum. That said, titanium is stronger than aluminum and will provide improved structural rigidity.

    • @KrisCox
      @KrisCox Год назад +1

      The big reason for the weight differential is the fact that the Olight has a 21700 battery, and the ThruNite has an 18650 battery.

      I already ordered a fenix pd35 v3. I figured for the extra money there had to be extra thermal protection than what thrunite has on its light.
      So does the fenix throw light as far as the tn12 pro?

  • @TecnamTwin
    @TecnamTwin Год назад +4

    Paying a little bit more?? Paying 2.5X more is a LOT more and it’s not as bright, doesn’t throw as far, turbo mode lasts a piddly 2 min. Thrunite’s 7 min. of Turbo is awesome and perfect for what I do; 2 min. wouldn’t cut it.
    That said, I do love O-lights with their magnetic charging and want to get the Baton 3 with battery case. Just got the Thrunite T1S and TN12 Pro though. Great bang for the buck.

    • @aquasound-escapes898
      @aquasound-escapes898 Год назад +1

      That’s all nice and all… until you realize that stated 50,000 hour life rule for a given LED is reduced by HALF after using total rated lumen output over and over on turbo. This is the problem with that most high end light manufacturers are dealing with.
      You must understand that when your feeling heat from your flashlight in the palm of your hand on turbo that the internal heat is 2X that where the mpcbc board with led on it is.
      Eventually I Will prematurely burn out/ short the electronics or led.
      It is safest (longevity) to use a lumen output that can regulate flat output.
      This means both the heat is regulated, the battery and the lumen are ALL able to withstand.
      Cannot state this enough; turbo is for short blips no longer blips.

    • @Tony-sy7ed

      I wish flashlight makers would STOP with the strobe. However both Olight and this Thrunite do a good job of keeping it in the background. 3 quick taps is not something your going to accidentally do, it’s a purposeful function. Also both of these lights fix the cycling through a bunch of modes if you learn how to use the light. Hit the back for max light, press and hold the side switch for lowest output. It’s really the only 2 modes I use. That thrunite really is a good light.
