See, Imus yawning and going overboard kinda killed this ad. Howard looked like he was just there because he had to be. it was natural, it was perfect. But Imus was desperately trying to do the bad boy thing and... I dunno. it just doesn't do it for me.
Nope, Bongarten actually supported Stern. When he got Promoted to VP of Radio at NBC (and later, Emmis), John "The Incubus" Hayes took over and eventually fired Stern
Actually neither one was behind the firing, but Randy was the messenger. It was Grant Tinker, chairmen of NBC who felt that his humor was not right for NBC airwaves.
In the movie PRIVATE PARTS Stern combines Incubus (John Hayes) and Pig Virus (Kevin Metheny) from his WNBC days into the character of Kenny, whom in the movie he calls Pig Vomit.
Stern thought he should have been treated better than Imus and Soupy Sales because he felt his act was original and they were stealing. Imus apparently yelled at Stern and Stern got butthurt and never recovered. He has not changed.
That goat of radio, got his shtick from somewhere, very similar to the guy he hated to his right?? So, what would that really make Imus? Hate him or not, but Don was the first to do it, before Stern was even heard of
What year was this? Back then Stern was a little hard to take.. and yet.. you had to listen just to see what he would say next. Also my parents only had the friggen AM stock radio in the car.

@@MrJruta so the Howard currently broadcasting on SiriusXM is a shell. He’s live on the air right now. Tune in. What made the show funny was the way the management at NBC and Tom Chiusano at K Rock irritated him.
@@joshdznyc if you even remotely think Howard is the same character now as he was back then, you’re missing something. Yes, he’s a money making shadow of his former self. He’s no longer cutting edge of entertaining.

@Midnight Owl no they wanted that N hit well bc there was Wabc as well & that one letter was the only difference so it had to stand out. I think they just liked how imus said the N I doubt they wanted people to talk like imus. They had soupy sales & wolfman jack on & they did not sound at all like Imus & were around b4 him. A wanna be of who? Alot of people say that, but as great a Stern is, or really was, where do you think he got his act from, before Howard, Imus was doing all the outrageous crazy stuff well before Howard came along!
I definitely remember seeing this ad on TV many decades ago
Those days were so fun couldn't wait to hear what was next.
This is a classic. They hate everybody and everybody hates them and they know it! That's why it's funny, I wish there were still people like that!
And they hate each other
@@10YearOldTomHoward is still around…
@@shanewilson199except now ya gotta pay for it and he all woke 🙄
You are correct. Howard says Randy was the only WNBC exec who understood his act.
I remember when it first aired. Still great!
Imus and Stern. Like putting two male Siamese fighting fish in one bowl
There should be at least 8 N's on the wall behind them.
First mentioned in the Spike Lee film SCHOOL DAZE then on the April 4,2007 broadcast of Imus In The Morning during Imus' final days at WFAN.
oh what i wouldn't give to have been a fly on the wall during this shoot. Those 2 legit HATED each other.
Love Imus sort of waving at Randall and eventually ripping up the page while Randall is still talking.
You'd never see something like this today. Today the apology would be real.
WNNNNNNNNNNNNNBC!
Rip imus
RIP Don Imus.
Pig Virus was Kevin Metheny.
Pig Vomit in the movie was a mixture of a few different people.
Yeah it was Kevin Methany and John Hayes who was Pig Vomit in the movie, who fired Howard at WNBC
What did they say that pissed off Nassau Community College?
"I mean what was under Peter Jennings' desk - other than the intern." - Don Imus
I like Don's hand gesture when Congress gets mentioned.
It's no secret that Imus & Stern didn't get along with one another.
RIP Don Imus....the Original Shock Jock, all others learned from the master. Shalom Don Imus!

And in 2007: The Rutgers women's basketball team

I'd guess 1983-84. I think Stern was gone by '85.
That's correct-Howard was terminated by WNBC in September 1985.
What was/is the New York chapter of Panatza/Panazza?? (sp?)
@sneezabonk If Howard Stern and Don Imus weren't so bad, they wouldn't be so good.
I don't think Mayor Koch should have gotten an apology.
you beat me to it lol
True and they still do
In his first book, Howard Stern says Randy Bongarten was the only WNBC executive who understood his act.
R.I.P. Don Imus!
Stern said they both hated having to shoot this commercial.
In the movie PRIVATE PARTS Stern combines Incubus (John Hayes) and Pig Virus (Kevin Metheny) from his WNBC days into the character of Kenny, whom in the movie he calls Pig Vomit.
Thank you. Ive been looking for clips and articles to try and figure out who pig vomit was. I knew he was based on someone but didnt know 2 people.
I heard Imus and Stern hated each others guts. But that's show biz in the big apple.
