After much trial and error with exhaust systems for my Iron 883 ive come to the realization that the bike rides smoothest and performs best especially at highway speeds (above 60 mph) with the stock header pipes and baffled slip on mufflers but sounds and looks best with a full aftermarket system particularly the Cobra 909 BUT most full systems are just way too loud like the Vance & Hines and actually have shit performance like tge Vance & Hines. The Cobra 909s with baffles in are actually the least obnoxious of the options and best option for performance in the 2 into 2 exhaust systems so in my opinion the Cobra 909 is the only option for 2 into 2 for a Iron 883 worth considering and they are cheapest and most unique so that is the cherry on top. It's really hard to get the right setup for me personally. I want louder but not the loudest and I want a smooth ride with at least no performance loss and preferably a performance gain. So, I think the Cobra 909 with the baffles in and baffles possibly wrapped with a layer of fiberglass if needed to be toned down even more in volume is the best all around exhaust you can get for sound, middle ground volume, appearance, performance and ride quality. I've tried the Python Throwbacks, stock setup and stock headers with open baffle 2 1/4 inch slip ons with thunder torque lolipops so far and the stock setup with slip ons ride so much smoother and volume is good, not too loud like Pythons but still too loud for me so I'm gonna try the Cobra setup and wrap the baffles to see it I can get the perfect volume and sound while getting the great look and performace too. Just hoping that the Cobra pipes having that connection between header pipes like the stock headers have retains that smoothness quality and better performance im after as well. I really think the stock headers for the Iron are fantastic pipes but I hate how the stock setup looks and looks are very important to me along with sound, volume and performance. I really hate to have to drop another $500 + labor on another exhaust system after putting thousands already in mods on my bike but it's just so close to being perfect and exactly the setup I envisioned for it that it will bug me if I don't put the finishing touch on it with the Cobra 909s. Anyways just my thoughts on the matter.
@@ironrider8836 i got the short shots v&h and they are way to loud ,so how do these sound are they high pitched to or more like a deep tone ? Whats the price on these ?
Better...always wondered if pipes with that rear bend get hot on your heel or boot. Guess it depends on pedal placement too either foot forward or more centered.
Nice. Found the Vance and Hines Short Shots way too loud. Felt like a jackhammer inside my full-face helmet at highway speeds, with earplugs! Any similar experience with the Cobra 909s? Ideally, would like something mid-way between Harley's Screaming Eagle pipes (fairly quiet) and the V&H Short Shots (too loud). Also, any issues with your boots being so close to the pipes?
Great soind. Mine got lost during shipping to cali. Guna have to order anothet set. Adam_ Johnson 09 harley nightster. Stage 1 breather. V&H FP3. Cobra speedster 909s in chrome. Ill post video when complete. Great job.
Have these same pipes, and they have a black heat shield that goes over them. The pipes under the shield will change colors with heat cycles, but you won't see that. Just clean them before you start the bike up and you'll be set.
@@CantTreadOnMe there was one rear bracket but that was it. Connected totally fine to my stock 21 883. I would definitely suggest blue loctite on the back bracket, but as stated it’s definitely provided. If you know basic torque specs you should be fine. Worst part of the install the is the front flange that connects the pipe to the head of the front motor. Very tight space, but with effort and patience you should be fine.
For looks V&N short shots....but too loud...so I installed home made baffles inside... don't know of after effects on engine but not want to bother our tight knit neighborhood....i ride around small streets and don't think the engine would be affected in any way
Kevin Cartwright no there should be no problem, if anything, before installing make sure you don't tight anything down right away, and just make adjustments as there on, then you can go ahead an tightened them screws up!
Kevin Cartwright , little late to this; did you end up getting these pipes? And did they interfere with your passenger pegs? I want these as well ! But have passengers frequently
Awesome. I have a 2017 iron as well. These look great on your bike. So I will def be making this purchase over the other more expensive exhaust pipes I've been looking at. Did you self install or get them professionally put on?
Iron Rider883 dope. Thanks man. Yeah I know people do them themselves idk I'll revisit maybe doing them myself. I just changed out my handle bars myself so the exhaust in my next thing. Did it now mess with your warrantee? Like the self install? Also are you in California? I only ask because I know there's restrictions I was gonna ask you about it if your there. I'm from there moving back in a few months. I don't wanna put new pipes on just to have to take them off you know. Sorry for the million questions
How is it riding wise? On the highway is it to much? When the bikes actually in the high rpms for a while. I had a Ninja 300 that I put a short exhaust on and I hate the bike now lol. And I don’t wanna ruin the Harley too
Justin Sustaita the Harley can handle the highway, I commute with it and I have no problem with it! But honestly don’t expect it to be a fast bike on highway, it is a good bike though.
Iron Rider883 I actually picked one up on Friday! Lol it’s pretty fun, I’m actually having a lot more fun on the Iron then I did on the Ninja. It’s just so dang quiet I can’t wait to get pipes lol
Timothy McNally - wouldn't recommend 883 sportsters for beginners or women. Very nice, the pipes immediately improved the look of the bike versus bike with stock pipes, the sound is just awesome!
Schweet! Nice fairing too. I saw George Throrgood playing this live at the Academy of Music theater a million years ago.....awesome.
Love two things about this video, the intro and the exhaust
Nice... I think I’m gonna go with the Vance and Hines short shots...
congrats on being like everyone else!
cant and wont.. theyre not legal here in california. see you on the road. keep the rubber side down.

@@CantTreadOnMewell how did it turn out? Was there performance loss
Cannot go wrong with Cobras. The best.
Badass. I got a 2019 883 and want to make it louder.
Nothing beats the sound of a sportster with pipes.
Sorry got stuck on the beginning. Nice choice of using Black Sabbath's Children of the Grave!
That Sabbath intro 😍
Sounds great 👍. Just wish you would’ve done a few passes with the new exhaust...
Sweet! Probably gonna go with some Cobra's for my 2017 when I get the dough. :)
Das Poop defiantly worth it!
Not being a smart-arse , but, Just to point out... It's '' Definitely ''.........( not defiantly ).

i really like your bike, i got a 883 2014 and i recently install forward controls, i recomend you, 10 times more comfortable.
yep.i got mine on ebay and love em for 85 shipped.
Love Cobra Exhaust sound most!

They don’t. But then again depends how you ride. I’ve never had a problem with them
Are these the quieter of all the exhausts you can get? I want something throaty but not loud...

I know this is old so forgive me. I am also looking for a mid way sounding exhaust system, have you found an exhaust like that?
That is so dope💯 Man I gotta get one those!
nice video bro ..also where did you get the headlight cover that looks so dope
I think you mean the little either fairing or mini windshield

Sounds deep.....Nice!
great video ! lovely bike ;-)
Pretty cool… I think the V&H slash cuts (if that’s right) would look much better.. sounds good though
I just bought a set of these for my iron. Did you use the baffles, or no?
Sounds great
God damn the motorcycle laws here in the UK, stuck on a 125cc. So want an 883 or a 48 so badly.
look and sounds good.
did you have to buy a FP3 solely because you added an exhaust?
Little late lol but no you shouldn’t. But with an aftermarket a/c yes
Did the Cobra 909 require a different mount bracket then the stock Harley mount bracket and if so did they come with the system?
Came with all the hardware
What kind of fairing do you have on the bike?
Just pulled the trigger for a set of these , should be on the bike in a few weeks time , your vid , did you have the baffles in or out ??
kev maxwell baffles are in
@@ironrider8836 ah thanks for info , just the answer I was hoping for , sounds spot on

Where did you get the headlight fairing?
Clyde Crowley got it at revzilla.com they have a bunch of cool stuff for motorcycle
When you put them on did you have to take it in to be tuned and did you ha e to get a new air intake
what type of fairing is on your motorcycle?
If possible, give the catalog number
Do you need to mess with the software?
I just bought the cobras. Im having them installed next weekend. Did you add a add a tuner or new intake since adding the pipes?
Roscoe Wolf not yet, I’ll be adding the intake next weekend and up loading the video stay toon!
Nice bike
Thinking of getting these for my '17 also. Was going for the V&H Shortshots but they are too loud. How are these in comparison?
Can see me change my short shots to these ... as loud as ss or slightly quieter ?
buenas noches, que cúpula llevas? ✌
Is that with or without baffles?
Did you put a tuner in or can you run these pipes without throwing codes?
No tuner, I ran them just as is. They worked perfectly fine
What kind of front fairing is that?
Does the exhaust fits superlow 883 too ?
Nice
