@@LooknFishy Don’t stop! I met a lady who was on year 3 of her fishing trip! Van, boat and dog crisscrossing the northwest of America. I think she does go home in the winter. Very interesting woman!
Those are stupendous fish Sir, I'm amazed. I used to hunt the trout about 45 years ago and your videos are giving me such itchy fingers!😀 Tight lines always.🎣
In September 2001, while my buddy was archery hunting for moose I spent three weeks fishing and completing the Wyoming Cutt-Slam. Because the Bonneville is found only in a small area of Wyoming I thought that was going to the most difficult. On my first cast I caught a beautiful 17” male in spawning colors. It’s a cherished memory now. I love Wyoming but the Grey’s river area will always be my favorite. I’m 67 now and I still do my annual 8-9 day backpacking trip in the Wind River Wilderness where we still catch and release hundreds of fish
Man you got the life while I'm sitting behind by desk at work on break just dreaming of being on the stream. You fish the most amazing water with no one in sight. Four more years then I'm retired and will do the same as you. Enjoy tight lines.
That look on your face after you caught that first big Cuttie says it all. What a fabulous stream! I must go to WY some day. Those fish were awesome! Well done Drew.
I've always told myself to never take away from the fishing I enjoy by filming myself. You and a few others have made me rethink my position by keeping a digital record of my experiences. Like you, I live out of my truck every summer for 5 to 9 weeks and wouldn't trade it for the world. I haven't fished the area in the video for a few years, but it's looking good to me. Maybe I'll get back there next summer. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
I have found recording my trips very rewarding. I get to look back...surprising how much I forgot from the beginning of this trip after only a few months. But I can show my family and they can see what and where I was!
@@LooknFishy I know exactly what you mean by forgetting where you are at times. For me it can start to blend together, especially if it's just another similar area in the same drainage. I take pictures with my phone of anything over 17/18 inches but they all start to look similar as well. Maybe a small video camera isn't such a bad idea, we get to see some awesome stuff while out on the water because trout don't live in ugly places very often. I'm looking forward to the rest of your videos from the trip.
Great stuff! A fly fishing video with actual fly fishing! Your one nine week trip has eclipsed all my fly fishing outings put together! Sooooo lucky! Definitely envious! Thanks for allowing the rest of us to imagine we're doing the same!
Drew your trips get longer and the fishing stays great. Love how you edit the videos. No music just fishing and beautiful scenery. Cant wait to see where go this winter as well.
Simply stunning Drew. The unbelievably beautiful fish combined with the incredible scenery and solitude. If you’re a fisherman this is what dreams are made of.
I couldn't help myself but the be the 1,000th like! Orvis needs to hook you up with a new net. Unless maybe this old one is sentimental ... Great cut throat fishing...!I really like how you keep the spots secret.
Nice video. Thanks for the hint. I live in Wyoming. I was trying to guess where you were on last Wyoming video too. I figured that’s the drainage area. Doesn’t get too many tourists around there. I’ve been wanting to fish that general area but was busy with new home, planting lots trees, new Shorthair pup to train for hunting…. Going to make a good trip over there next August.
Hello Drew, I'm impressed with the finesse you show when fly fishing. I can tell you've been fly fishing for many, many years. I am curious. Do you ever get fish (trout, cutthroat) on the reel? If not, I'm wondering why? I'm asking as I'm a novice at this amazing sport. Thanks for sharing your passion for this sport and your adventures!
Great video Drew! Non fishing question. I noticed that you had switched up trucks this past summer. Was there a reason to switch from the Nissan? Any advantages the new truck has? Noticed you also got a rod holder. Any advice? Thanks and keep the vids coming!
Love your videos! might need to adjust your head camera, a lot of times you are showing a picture of just water, no fish can be seen or just a small picture of your net.
drew, question: (and if you already answered this im sorry!!!!). why do you prefer trout/streams over saltwater/flats fishing? also I really appreciate how gentle you are with the fish and how quickly you release them.
I don't and spend a fair amount of time sight fishing redfish from my kayak in Louisiana. Got a few vids. As far as bones, permit or tarpon etc...really need a guide/boat for that. Plus not much in the way of dispersed camping or national forests near the flats.
That is a crazy big fly? But it caught crazy big fish!!! They were beautiful!!! You just hammer bro!!! So is the rod a Euro rod 10’ 4 WT or conventional fly rod??? Thanks
Dream stream for sure! Fished over some educated cuttys in the Idaho backcountry in mid September. Couldn’t get them to eat so I put on a big foam attractor and the biggest fish in the run came up and slammed it ! When in doubt, throw a hamburger at em’….
Drew - that is some killer catches - I do have a question - how do you locate the streams you fish. Also, you always seem to find the streams where no one else is on!
Find out for yourself. Don't be like everyone else asking for free handouts! Beautiful, fishy streams stay beautiful and fishy when less people know about them so the harder you have to work the less people will go.
@@bssaassin1900 dude dont be a dushbag. just curious if he uses US forest service maps. I fly fish all over the west and the last thing I want is assholes like yourself to be standing next to me because they werent able to find their own hole.
@@AZ_Baggin ok I'll take that back a little that did come off kinda douchey I just see alot of people asking where you do you fish? Then they tell their buddies next thing you know those spots don't fish the same and there's beer cans and dead fishing line. And believe me if I see another angler I move far enough to where neither one of us can see eachother
Thanks for sharing your adventure, Drew. I’ve really enjoyed every video. Do you ever share the locations of where you were on this trip? Especially Wyoming….
Oh hey Drew your videos would be so much better if you could save me from doing my own research and just give the gps coordinates for all the places you fish. Don’t be a big jerk just tell all of the interwebs where you are! I totally already know anyway. Just kidding of course keep it on the DL and PM me the coordinates.
The tips and trips are always great and cool but every now and then you should kind of give a general location where you are fishing. Wyoming is a big state. Same with Montana and Idaho. I have an idea where you are at since I've fished most if not all the places you've been and others you've never heard of. Not carrying bear spray kind of gives it away FWIW. The land belongs to everyone and there is no secret spots cause more than likely someone told you. Cheers!
Why would you need Drew to disclose a location for you if you’ve already fished all those waters and know them so well. You want a bunch of cyberscouters to show up in your water? Cheers!
I can’t even imagine what it would be like to take a nine week fishing trip. Officially jealous!
Right? I'd like to maybe start with a week hahah
I'm definitely fortunate to do this! Now I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to stop lol!
