Myabe I went overboard with my text lol 😅
the craziest part of AoT openings is that they all DEEPLY apply to each season-if you look at the title of each opening and read the translations for each song, they're very applicable to the storyline itself. LOVE THIS SERIES!!
the end op is one of the most tragic sounding songs ive ever heard, and the lyrics of both the opening and ending songs are absolutely heartbreaking if you understand the meaning behind them.
These openings somehow became the background music in my soul after watching the show, AOT is my number one! The last one still hits different and never gets old.
I barley watch anime on german (my main language) but i have to say the german dub of AoT is sooo much better than the japanese, I recommend you to give it a try. For example Reiners voice is soooo good
PLEASE give us Attack on Titan reactions! The score throughout the show is just as incredible as the openings are. Incredible music, animation, characters, plot, lore, Attack on Titan has it all!
The lovely thing that Attack on Titan's OP got, whether by accident or (probably) not, is that it actually tells the story of the series, without you ever having to have watched it. Which shows, because he already got it by the 3rd OP. The first 2 are standard, straight national propaganda stuff. That's why they sound like national anthems. By the 3rd and 4th, however, creep and doubt sets in. The secrets and intrigue as the plot gets more complex. It gets sadder as the journey of these characters take us to the climax of that historic reveal. And then by the 5th and 6th, we get back to propaganda again, but with more information than just blind nationalism now. The 6th, from the other side, sounds truly ominous and unsettling. And by the 7th, it is just pure chaos and suffering barreling on to the end of the world, and the end of the story. Absolutely amazing!
Fun fact, in the first 2 openings they sing with a mixture of japanese and german, it honestly makes for such a cool dynamic, especially when you start noticing it, it is really apparent in the chours in the second opening
@some random eyeball™ I heard that the creator of My War said that he was actually singing gibberish for what you think is spanish and used what we heard in the opening iirc
Two things: one, all the Linked Horizon songs actually have German names in the openings with the credits and two, Guren No Yumiya has an entire bridge in German.
Attack on Titan is a modern day masterpiece… I am not a big anime guy myself, but the story, the characters, the screenplay, the music is just PERFECT. I never ever rate something as perfect but this as close to it as I have ever seen in a series/movie or whatever.. it’s truly something to experience once in a lifetime…
Agree, I work in publishing IRL and study things like literary analysis/narratology, the classics, psychology, sociology. By "the usual metrics", its a masterpiece and I have no doubt it will be seen as such in the future.
@@xellowjune1753 tbh i don't care enough about it. some of the other big channels are faked too, they try to be slick about it but it's obvious. at least this dude is entertaining 🤷🏻♂️
My favorite part is that in the 2nd opening, there's the most German parts, for example: "Flügel der Freiheit" which means wings of freedom which is pretty beautiful
@@beethovenisatree5913 That part "Counter Attack Mankind" especially in the first two seasons when they do in those rare triumphant moments gives me chills, literal goosebumps sometimes! (Its a great song, and the moments feel so earned and special LOL)

"live to die another day." Honestly, this says almost everything there is about the show. This is honestly the most powerful line in any aot op in my opinion.
The whole soundtrack of Attack on Titan is incredible not just the opening songs. I definitely recommend listing to “youseebiggirl” yes it is called that lol. The full version not just the shorted live version so you get the full experience. You should do a reaction to the rest of the soundtrack too before you watch the show if you do and want to👍

The second one was the hardest one for me to get through at first but after like the first 10 seconds it's just absolute BANGER. They all really are amazing.
OMG YES PLEASE DO MORE ANIME REACTIONS IN THE FUTURE!! :)- side note my favorite intro has to be red swan (the piano one) and then a close second is the last intro!
That is the coolest take I’ve ever seen, Red Swan doesn’t get nearly enough love and the newest OP is so different but sick asf!! They’re my faves with Guren no Yumiya too, respect 👊👊 edit: I just remembered My War exists,, nvm this show is so ridiculously goated with intros how tf do you pick faves 😭😭
I don't even like Heavy Metal, but that last opening is one of my favourite openings of all time. It's just such an amazing mix of emotions, especially that drop before the chorus - absolutely beautiful.
Yes, you're right with the 3rd one. It really is more emotional and personal. "Sasageyo" means "Dedicate." That's the commander's hype line. "Shinzou wo sasageyo!" which means "Dedicate your hearts!"
I know Red Swan is the "emotional one" but for me Shinzo wo Sasageyo will always be the one to hit me in the feels, especially when I listen to the full version. 🥲
@@ericjoel5363 Check out the band Xjapan. They've been around since like the 80s their leader is Yoshiki. He wrote and performed Red Swan with another artist Hyde. Hyde plays with Yoshiki and Xjapan in more recent years. The entire story of Yoshiki and X Japan. is nothing short but amazing. Yoshiki has a small thing on Disney + entitled Yoshiki My music story. And there is a documentary about Xjapan entitled "We are X". X Japan dod the themes song and a music video for Saw IV entitled I.V.
I’m glad to see that you appreciated how absolutely insanely good these all are. The fact that not a single opening was bad, and multiple of them are some of the best ever is wild. AoT really did have a legendary run as a show
The 3rd one's chorus says "Shinzou wo Sasageyo" which translates to "devote your heart". It's the warcry of the soldiers when they dedicate themselves to a suicidal mission. One of my favourite moments is at the end of season 2 when the commander gives a small speech to encourage the soldiers to run into near certain death and raises his horse onto its back legs, swings his sword in the air and screams that line. Such a badass moment.
1:54 Guren no Yumiya (S1) 4:07 Jiyuu no Tsubasa (S1) 7:36 SASAGEYO (S2) 9:23 Red Swan (S3) 12:47 or 13:41 Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi (S3) 16:06 My War (S4) 18:50 Rumbling (S4)
The last one is a banger, but there is something so nostalgic about the first opening. Also, I can’t recommend Black Clover openings more! Every single one is on POINT!
AoT openings are always great, none if them are bad, but Thr Rumbling hits differently. It's an absolute perfect blend of what makes every single opening work and formed this perfect hybrid. Hard to say but it may just be my favorite openings of all time
Anime is a medium, NOT a genre in itself. It contains content and stories for all ages and audiences. Want a show about giant robots? It has that, want a realistic suspense drama? It has that. Want a violent gore-fest? It has it. Want fun and light-hearted with low stakes? Want a show teaching you about various topics? Want a slice of life romance? Of course there's a lot of shitty ones, but also a lot of good ones as well.
It's like saying that animation or live-action are genres. That CGI is a genre. It's a medium, the visual and budget way you're presenting a story through.
I would say it is a genre in being animated drawings basically but zhat is a visual genre or whatever you call these so yeah. And if you ask me any cartoon that I know is for older audiences like Family Guy and Simpsons so yeah people still lwt their children watch it. Netflix has like a side that is named Anime but Animes like Death Note and Tokyo Ghoul are under Horror as well so netflix did a great job there and just because there are light hearted animes never mentions that it is for kids so that is just annoying. That stereotype around anime, because there are so many animations made for kids but that doesn't mean that older people can't listen to it. People around 30 still watch MLP and things like that Winx,Monster High, etc.. Don't know why some people want it in 3D in "real live" so yeah that is just funny. I am pretty new here in the Anime community watched Death Note and now season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul ^^ Anyways any recommendations ? Shall I watch AOT and are there anymore like Tokyo Ghoul more of a Action, horror themed anime that is great ?
@@curse5697 The point is that people who may have an outside perspective shouldn't just group all anime into one category, because they are very diverse. Basically not to write off all anime because you have one idea of what it is in your head.
AND MY MAN, 13:03 YOU SAID SOMETHING VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL 'YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW WHAT SOMEONE IS SAYING TO FEEL OR UNDERSTAND THEIR FEELINGS' Man my respect for you skyrocketed. I really really appreciate what you said in the video, and listening to them all got me hyped like it was the first time. My fav is the 7th.
yeah my wife speaks spanish by default which is a diff language than I speak, when we first met we didn't speak the same language (now she speaks english but I still don't understand spanish fully), so most of the time when she speaks in Espanol I have to go by her intonation or tone, and I can usually tell what she's saying about 70% of the time.
Also every anime has an opening And an ending song, sometimes the ending is more chill than the opening, for example in given (excellent anime that will hit hard in the feels, it's a music anime)
I always love to see a "non anime watcher" realize what they have missed all this years, anime is such a broad concept, and I love seeing a "don't care" attitude convert on a "this is awesome, I need more" one, keep up the great work, I will be here for the next anime openings reaction, I would suggest to do the Black Clover openings!
Me before Hololive: What is this rabbit, and why is she trying to sound and look cute? Who would want to watch this? Me After Hololive: HOLY SHIT SHE'S COMMITTING WAR CRIMES

YO THIS REACTION WAS AWESOME- you really went through the five stages of grief all in one go 😭 please do more anime reactions tho ! i highly suggest the jjk openings and endings since they are beautifully well done in my opinion. cant wait to see more ‼️
The last opening, rumbling, was such a different direction than what they had done so far for the openings. It was such an incredible fit though, it really captures the mood of the season 4 part 2. By far my favorite opening, just a stunning song.
If you watch the show and know the context, and read the lyrics you will cry. I did even on the last opening i cried even though it wasn’t something u would usually cry at. This show is the best thing i have ever seen!!!!!
One thing I love about all these openings combined is how they start off with a heavy emphasis on that "national anthem" sound, filling you with nationalist pride and hyping you up to take up arms for a country that doesn't even exist, but leans more into melancholy and raw emotional sounds as the characters get more and more traumatized by war, losing faith in their cause and their ability to figure out the right thing to do. Both the lyrics and melodies reflect this shift, it's amazing.
Yes do not click read more if you don’t want to be spoiled I would like to get into it . . . . . . . . The first one is clearly more on the patriotic side, it’s the first season, that is the emphasis: kill the titans, defend the homeland. Second one: still gives patriotic vibes but it has a lot of more freedom into it, the sounds give this “immense” vibe, because they are exploring the outside world, still for the homeland, but also for curiosity Third one: always patriotic vibes because we are defending a wall in this season, but more emotional, we now get to see the character more and more Fourth one: completely different, obviously more emotional than the others, in fact the season is all about character development and titans are no where near to be seen Fifth one: went back to fighting titans, so more of that metallic style, but where do we fight? Shingashina, that was seen in the first season. What does this intro resemble? The first season’s intro. Sixth intro: in the season we are taken to literally another land, where there is a war fought with fire weapons and not swords (even though titans are used, it is extremely similar to irl wars), what does the vibe give? Those songs that are sang by soldier before going to war. Seventh one: full in with the metallic style, eren is now a threat to literally everyone, so no time for any anthem or emotional moments, it’s full in battle time
The whole anime is one of the best written series I’ve ever watched/read I highly recommended watching it. The plot twists, the characters, the mention of (and the hidden meanings about) society’s issues and history are all so GOOD. It’s also one of the shows that gets people hooked into anime. That and Death Note which is also pretty famous. All of my friends who had never watched anime before literally loved AOT so yea, again, I highly recommend watching it 😗
Its so cool how if you watch all the openings you can actually see all the story unraveling readIng through the visuals. Very well directed all of them. Also very very cool to see how he gets the message of each season just by listening to the openings.

I just got my dad to watch AoT. First he just laughed at the idea of watching a ”cartoon”, but after the first episode, he asked if we could watch more.
Most of the AoT openings can be categorized as "rock opera". Also, it's no coincidence "Red Swan", the 4th opening, almost made you tear up. It did that to me every single time. It's one of the most beautiful openings in all of anime.
It portrays the whole development of the all the characters in AoT. Every now and then, I find myself always going back to Red Swan and it always feels the same. Hands down the best anime openeing
I'm so glad to see Red Swan enjoyers. It is so criminally underrated. I get that people love banger themes but how can one not get emotional by Red Swan (even going so far as to say it's boring) after going through all the character development is something I utterly failed to understand.
@@viktorvorel I’m personally in the boring camp. It’s nice and all, but I just don’t think it matches the tone of the season appropriately like the others do
Definitely check out more of SiM's music! Nothings quite as hard hitting as The Rumbling (probably because it was written with the context of AoT S4 P2 in mind) but they have hella bangers!

Dude I literally did the same the first time I watched it
Fun fact, in the first 2 openings they sing with a mixture of japanese and german, it honestly makes for such a cool dynamic, especially when you start noticing it, it is really apparent in the chours in the second opening

OMG YOU DID IT YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW. Now I'm watching your reaction + you're the best
Of course there's a lot of shitty ones, but also a lot of good ones as well.
best explanation i’ve seen
I am pretty new here in the Anime community watched Death Note and now season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul ^^
Anyways any recommendations ? Shall I watch AOT and are there anymore like Tokyo Ghoul more of a Action, horror themed anime that is great ?

@@curse5697 The point is that people who may have an outside perspective shouldn't just group all anime into one category, because they are very diverse. Basically not to write off all anime because you have one idea of what it is in your head.

The first one is clearly more on the patriotic side, it’s the first season, that is the emphasis: kill the titans, defend the homeland.
Second one: still gives patriotic vibes but it has a lot of more freedom into it, the sounds give this “immense” vibe, because they are exploring the outside world, still for the homeland, but also for curiosity
Third one: always patriotic vibes because we are defending a wall in this season, but more emotional, we now get to see the character more and more
Fourth one: completely different, obviously more emotional than the others, in fact the season is all about character development and titans are no where near to be seen
Fifth one: went back to fighting titans, so more of that metallic style, but where do we fight? Shingashina, that was seen in the first season. What does this intro resemble? The first season’s intro.
Sixth intro: in the season we are taken to literally another land, where there is a war fought with fire weapons and not swords (even though titans are used, it is extremely similar to irl wars), what does the vibe give? Those songs that are sang by soldier before going to war.
Seventh one: full in with the metallic style, eren is now a threat to literally everyone, so no time for any anthem or emotional moments, it’s full in battle time
