I agree, I got spoiled left and right about the big reveals that happens in the last 3 seasons and it ruined the whole show for me I know this isnt an issue to other people, but I tend to lose any motivation to finish a show when I get majorly spoiled, same thing happened to me with Your Lie in April

That "don't go" wasn't even out of fear, Carla was crying realizing that she can't watch her son grow up. Like Eren has aleayd been a stubborn kid but now he's running from her forever. You could feel the sadness in her voice.

Right before she say that, there is a short flashback of them talking about it back at home while sitting on the table. When she recalls that scene she breaks thinking of her son wanting to get in the Corps as soon as he is barely saved by Hannes, just to go and endanger himself again.

When the characters said “Go to the survey corps” you could translate this in English as “Join the survey corps” because the meaning behind “Go” is technically “Join” but that depends on the context and in Eren’s mother’s case the translation does not fit and is incorrect. She wants them to leave her behind so they can survive but then with the flashback of the peaceful times striking she speaks her true feelings that she does not want to be left behind and does not want to die.
That last line from the mother which is a muffled "Don't go" gets me everytime, no matter how many times I watch it! This manga/anime is definitely a masterpiece.

This guy is so observant. At first I thought he was just being over the top with his reactions, but he's not. If everyone had observed aot as vividly as him from the start, they'd be completely mesmerised reacting to aot. Looking back, it was a long time ago but the first time I watched this show, I was absolutely shitting myself from adrenaline. This guy notices everything we want him to notice, and if he doesn't notice it the first time, he'd rewatch the scene and notice it the second time. He points out sawano's soundtracks (imo the best ost composer in all of anime), he notices little details and analyse them deeply. He then sums up his ideas of what he knows so far at the end of the video, with the majority being spot on predictions. This guy is so entertaining to watch.

The reason why I like the scene where Carla (the mother) dies is that when I first watched it I thought "another mother sacrificing to protect her children, how cliché" because it's become an annoying cliché, we (women) are always expected to put the lives of others before our own lives, and that's sad. But then she said "don't go" and my perspective of the scene changed. She didn't want them to leave her, she didn't want to die, she really wanted to be saved. She was human.
Nah you guys aren't expected to do that. That cliche usually happens since mothers or parents in general who love their child too much would usually sacrifice something if their child is in danger.

It's cool to see that "anime isn't just for kids" revelation in real time. In the 80-90s, it was classics like Akira, Ninja Scroll, Cowboy Bebop, and Ghost in the Shell that opened ppl's eyes. In the early 2000s the big shows were Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, and Black Lagoon that surprised a generation. Attack on Titan is definitely on that level for the 2010s. Just a prediction but I think Chainsaw Man is gonna be one of those monumental anime when it comes put this year, worth keeping an eye on.

The person who makes music for Attack on Titan is named Sawano Hiroyuki. He's quite popular and has a specific style of music you can spot easily. He made soundtracks for other anime like Eighty-six, Seraph of the End, Kill la Kill, Guilty Crown and more. He also makes soundtracks for movies and dramas. And I think he also did soundtrack for League of Legends animated trailer Light and Shadow.

There's a reason why many die-hards only watch anime subtitled. Becoming a Japanese voice actor is like having to graduate from an Ivy League university. They are incredibly versatile and extremely talented at portraying emotions, qualities which I feel the dubs (of any anime, really) lack. The original VAs are simply superior, and I'm so glad you noticed the quality within the first 5 mins.

I think one of the most common misconceptions about Anime is that people seem to think it's genre rather than a medium. Just like a live action show can be a kids show, a comedy, a horror, a sci fi, a fantasy, or whatever, Anime can be any of those things as well. Some people are programmed to avoid it or steer away from it through the thinking that because it animated like any other cartoon would be, that automatically means its for kids. But my god.... most kids would be traumatized if you showed them this!
In case you haven't noticed, anime is WAY more diverse than other generes of television, it can be child pleasing (pokemon, yugioh, etc) it can be romantic, love stories, horrifying, sadistic and explosive. I hope you explore more of it!
anime is a much more diverse "genre" of television than the genre "movies" because on anime you can do things that aren't possible in normal movies, or at least not with gigantic and much too costly cgi, and also because of "not being realistic" when it comes to deciding whether, what, and how much needs to be cut/censored for showing on free tv ... in germany AOT, black clover, demon slayer, goblin slayer, alchemist, SAO, Tokyo Ghul, Witchblade, highschool of the dead, highschool dxd, Rosario, everyday life with monster girls LOL and others are shown friday evening during the anime night on private free (non-paytv) station pro7maxx, with age restriction of mostly 16, and sometimes 18. Afternoon children's "cartoons" are onepiece, Naruto, fairy tail, InuYasha, Kenichi, Konosuba, Hero Academia, etc
The mistake is in thinking of Anime as a "genre" in the first place. All it really is is a medium, just like books, movies, etc. Sure, it has a fair few common (Though not omnipresent) themes and tropes that appear across a variety of genre, but the same can be said for every medium.

Yuki Kaji, the voice actor for Eren is an absolute legend. He manages to portray so much emotion in every role he does. Look up some of his other roles and I promise you're in for a treat.

To be honest season 1 isnt all that complicated as the ones after it, most things you can basically guess whwt would happen in this season like i did on my first watch, ofcourse season 1 is really good but its a lot more predictable than later seasons
Oh and I legit cried watching a lot of AOT episodes. The translators did a pretty good job of nailing tone, plot points, jokes etc. I have a feeling you’re gonna like Mikasa and be pretty fond of the main cast of this show. It’s super well thought out.
bruh the emotions you feel are exactly how we all felt, on the brink of tears, hell I did cry a couple times this anime will do it to you this is top tier! it's not a happy anime it's hits you in the gut and makes you feel emotions you never would think you would feel. I’m glad you liked it! If you look back where Karla(Eren’s mom) was getting picked up by the Titan, she was kicking meaning her legs weren’t broken, she just made that up so that Eren and mikasa could escape.
The music, the visuals, the story, the character arcs, the cliffhangers… this show had it all and had me hooked from the beginning. 3 weeks after starting it, I’ve managed to watch all the seasons and have caught up. Not many shows can make me do that.
Trust me this journey is once in a lifetime and is still going on to this day, every little detail every text of dialogue is beautiful the show constantly references past seasons so always keep your ears open and stay alert to pretty much everything, but my god this show will give you so many emotions and so many unexpected moments it will be the best experience you’ve ever had watching a show I can guarantee you that

This is my favourite show , the story in AoT is absolutely genius. Also reactions to AoT attract a lot of views, because we want to watch other people's reaction at key moments and this show is full of plot twists. It also likes to drop information bit by bit so the story will not be shoved in your face, you actually have to think about what happened before and how it connects to the actual episode you're watching. Please keep at it, this show is absolutely amazing and will not dissapoint
I feel like Jean and Levi will end up being a couple of your favorite characters, honestly. Both of them for their attitudes, and Levi just for being a total badass. Levi specifically seems RIGHT up your alley.
I also knew nothing about anime and I started watching this show with the mindset that I probably wasn't going to like it. I was blown away - everything about it is just so good. I'm so grateful to my son for opening my eyes to this amazing genre.
@@blakeismydaughter2902 My grandmother liked Walking Dead, and I say if you like Zombies and can deal with that level of violence you can handle AoT. We are watching one season a mo when I go visit her for the weekend and she likes it a lot so far! It not her first anime either granted, but she does have a sense of what she likes or doesn't and won't watch something "just because". At the same time I just show recommend the top tier stuff and classics and so far so good. Avatar the Last Airbender, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, are some others that a lot of people like regardless of age bracket. The way to think is that anime is a medium that lets you handle serious topics, sci fi & fantasy without CGI for the most part & in a artsy way. If someone likes one genre in live action, show them a top tier version in anime and more often than not it will click.
Given that the show's airing its final season right now, it's actually really interesting watching someone get into it this much on the very first episode. Stick it out, homie. This show is one that's worth it. It will most likely go down as the most influential anime of all time. It's changing the way normative audiences see anime. The complexity of the story is spelled out for you and not too difficult to digest as long as you pay attention. Avoid all spoilers. Don't look at anything.
The best part about this is the show only gets better, and so much more complex, mature, and interesting. Season 1 is by far the worst the show gets, each one is just a level up

Watching a reactor, complete with overexaggerated emotions, directly brings back that feeling of showing something to your friends, hoping they will enjoy it. When you really love something you just want to share that joy, the emotions it makes you feel, or the pride of recognizing something's artistic value or creative genius. You want to hear someone go on and on about how much they enjoyed it, see their face light up, all of that. Whenever you show someone something in person that you've already seen and thought they might like, don't you glance at their face, or ask them what they thought? Reaction channels are for anyone who ever said to a friend, "Check out this hilarious video I found!" The draw is that pull of nostalgic connection, especially for those who are no longer in a place (such as their childhood days) where they can do so in person. Why do we share memes or jokes? Why do we share anything? Because shared emotion is a powerful thing. And it's why reactors exist. I don't have anyone in my personal circles whom I could sit down with and watch Attack On Titan together. It's too mature for my kids, it's not my wife's thing, and even if I convinced my coworkers to check it out, it's not like I can just ride my bike over to their house and hang out for 3 hours a day like when we were schoolkids. You know how the mother said that her legs were crushed? Yeah, that was a lie. You can see her legs moving while she was resisting. She didn't want to give her son false hope and wanted him to escape, for him to live. Even at the cost of her own life.
They were crushed. You can still flail your legs around if they’re broken. But she can’t run and her kids can’t carry her. Now if her spine was crushed then yeah she wouldn’t be able to move her legs.

Her legs didn't look even a bit disfigured. I've broken bones before, my mother broke her toe once. While she was unable to do anything with her toe for the longest time. After the adrenaline hit I was able to freely fling my broken wrist around with no pain. Granted I was a kid and it hurt like a b*tch before it stopped hurting. Her flailing legs look like intact legs flailing, not noodle legs flailing. There wasn't even any blood or gashes. Her legs were bending normally and straight. It didn't look crushed to me. This guy is so observant. At first I thought he was just being over the top with his reactions, but he's not. If everyone had observed aot as vividly as him from the start, they'd be completely mesmerised reacting to aot. Looking back, it was a long time ago but the first time I watched this show, I was absolutely shitting myself from adrenaline.
This guy notices everything we want him to notice, and if he doesn't notice it the first time, he'd rewatch the scene and notice it the second time. He points out sawano's soundtracks (imo the best ost composer in all of anime), he notices little details and analyse them deeply. He then sums up his ideas of what he knows so far at the end of the video, with the majority being spot on predictions. This guy is so entertaining to watch.

The reason why I like the scene where Carla (the mother) dies is that when I first watched it I thought "another mother sacrificing to protect her children, how cliché" because it's become an annoying cliché, we (women) are always expected to put the lives of others before our own lives, and that's sad. But then she said "don't go" and my perspective of the scene changed. She didn't want them to leave her, she didn't want to die, she really wanted to be saved. She was human.
Nah you guys aren't expected to do that. That cliche usually happens since mothers or parents in general who love their child too much would usually sacrifice something if their child is in danger.
Tbh i dont really think its cliché to have women in shows die like that. Mostly because i feel like it happens to fathers in anime just as much. It's cool to see that "anime isn't just for kids" revelation in real time. In the 80-90s, it was classics like Akira, Ninja Scroll, Cowboy Bebop, and Ghost in the Shell that opened ppl's eyes. In the early 2000s the big shows were Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, and Black Lagoon that surprised a generation. Attack on Titan is definitely on that level for the 2010s. Just a prediction but I think Chainsaw Man is gonna be one of those monumental anime when it comes put this year, worth keeping an eye on.

He made soundtracks for other anime like Eighty-six, Seraph of the End, Kill la Kill, Guilty Crown and more. He also makes soundtracks for movies and dramas. And I think he also did soundtrack for League of Legends animated trailer Light and Shadow.

Becoming a Japanese voice actor is like having to graduate from an Ivy League university. They are incredibly versatile and extremely talented at portraying emotions, qualities which I feel the dubs (of any anime, really) lack. The original VAs are simply superior, and I'm so glad you noticed the quality within the first 5 mins.

I think one of the most common misconceptions about Anime is that people seem to think it's genre rather than a medium. Just like a live action show can be a kids show, a comedy, a horror, a sci fi, a fantasy, or whatever, Anime can be any of those things as well. Some people are programmed to avoid it or steer away from it through the thinking that because it animated like any other cartoon would be, that automatically means its for kids. But my god.... most kids would be traumatized if you showed them this!

In case you haven't noticed, anime is WAY more diverse than other generes of television, it can be child pleasing (pokemon, yugioh, etc) it can be romantic, love stories, horrifying, sadistic and explosive. I hope you explore more of it!
anime is a much more diverse "genre" of television than the genre "movies" because on anime you can do things that aren't possible in normal movies, or at least not with gigantic and much too costly cgi, and also because of "not being realistic" when it comes to deciding whether, what, and how much needs to be cut/censored for showing on free tv ... in germany AOT, black clover, demon slayer, goblin slayer, alchemist, SAO, Tokyo Ghul, Witchblade, highschool of the dead, highschool dxd, Rosario, everyday life with monster girls LOL and others are shown friday evening during the anime night on private free (non-paytv) station pro7maxx, with age restriction of mostly 16, and sometimes 18. Afternoon children's "cartoons" are onepiece, Naruto, fairy tail, InuYasha, Kenichi, Konosuba, Hero Academia, etc

I'm starting to feel that One Piece is not just children's cartoon. they have genocide, politics, racism, coups, slavery and many more.
The mistake is in thinking of Anime as a "genre" in the first place. All it really is is a medium, just like books, movies, etc. Sure, it has a fair few common (Though not omnipresent) themes and tropes that appear across a variety of genre, but the same can be said for every medium.
This is one hell of a show to start with. It's cruel, yet beautiful. A sharp whiplash from what most people expect from Anime.

To be honest season 1 isnt all that complicated as the ones after it, most things you can basically guess whwt would happen in this season like i did on my first watch, ofcourse season 1 is really good but its a lot more predictable than later seasons
Oh and I legit cried watching a lot of AOT episodes. The translators did a pretty good job of nailing tone, plot points, jokes etc. I have a feeling you’re gonna like Mikasa and be pretty fond of the main cast of this show. It’s super well thought out.
bruh the emotions you feel are exactly how we all felt, on the brink of tears, hell I did cry a couple times this anime will do it to you this is top tier! it's not a happy anime it's hits you in the gut and makes you feel emotions you never would think you would feel. I'm glad you had such a positive experience with your first adult anime that is considered one of the best and you can see why. nearly every episode is like this!

I’m glad you liked it! If you look back where Karla(Eren’s mom) was getting picked up by the Titan, she was kicking meaning her legs weren’t broken, she just made that up so that Eren and mikasa could escape.
Eren’s voice Actor, Yuuki Kaji, is one of the best voice actors recently. Japanese voice actors in general are among the best in the world.
Not recently, he already in industry for more than 10 years. I first knew him from Black Butler in 2009.
Several English voice actors are stellar as well. Bryce Papenbrook (the English Eren) is amazing.

The music, the visuals, the story, the character arcs, the cliffhangers… this show had it all and had me hooked from the beginning.
3 weeks after starting it, I’ve managed to watch all the seasons and have caught up. Not many shows can make me do that.
Trust me this journey is once in a lifetime and is still going on to this day, every little detail every text of dialogue is beautiful the show constantly references past seasons so always keep your ears open and stay alert to pretty much everything, but my god this show will give you so many emotions and so many unexpected moments it will be the best experience you’ve ever had watching a show I can guarantee you that

This is my favourite show , the story in AoT is absolutely genius. Also reactions to AoT attract a lot of views, because we want to watch other people's reaction at key moments and this show is full of plot twists. It also likes to drop information bit by bit so the story will not be shoved in your face, you actually have to think about what happened before and how it connects to the actual episode you're watching. Please keep at it, this show is absolutely amazing and will not dissapoint

It not her first anime either granted, but she does have a sense of what she likes or doesn't and won't watch something "just because". At the same time I just show recommend the top tier stuff and classics and so far so good.
Avatar the Last Airbender, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, are some others that a lot of people like regardless of age bracket.
The way to think is that anime is a medium that lets you handle serious topics, sci fi & fantasy without CGI for the most part & in a artsy way. If someone likes one genre in live action, show them a top tier version in anime and more often than not it will click.

Watching a reactor, complete with overexaggerated emotions, directly brings back that feeling of showing something to your friends, hoping they will enjoy it. When you really love something you just want to share that joy, the emotions it makes you feel, or the pride of recognizing something's artistic value or creative genius. You want to hear someone go on and on about how much they enjoyed it, see their face light up, all of that. Whenever you show someone something in person that you've already seen and thought they might like, don't you glance at their face, or ask them what they thought?
Reaction channels are for anyone who ever said to a friend, "Check out this hilarious video I found!" The draw is that pull of nostalgic connection, especially for those who are no longer in a place (such as their childhood days) where they can do so in person. Why do we share memes or jokes? Why do we share anything? Because shared emotion is a powerful thing. And it's why reactors exist.
I don't have anyone in my personal circles whom I could sit down with and watch Attack On Titan together. It's too mature for my kids, it's not my wife's thing, and even if I convinced my coworkers to check it out, it's not like I can just ride my bike over to their house and hang out for 3 hours a day like when we were schoolkids. But a 10-minute video on RUclips? Heck yeah, I can do that. Call it nostalgia prostitution :-P but there's really nothing at all harmful about it... at least no more than anything else online.

I've broken bones before, my mother broke her toe once. While she was unable to do anything with her toe for the longest time. After the adrenaline hit I was able to freely fling my broken wrist around with no pain. Granted I was a kid and it hurt like a b*tch before it stopped hurting.
Her flailing legs look like intact legs flailing, not noodle legs flailing. There wasn't even any blood or gashes. Her legs were bending normally and straight.
It didn't look crushed to me.
And personally, it makes it more heartbreaking 'cause she could've been saved if she was able to get out of the rubble. But they couldn't and she made the choice to be left behind for the benefit of her son' s and mikasa's safety.
