I have a g174 with a 2 cylinder mitzubishi motor, that g194 is a ts1910 in a blue iseki, the only difference between the bolens and the iseki is the color and sticker on the bonnet, on your tractor it would probably say tx1500 on the tappet cover and on the plate that has the gear selction on it,

You shouldn't even start that tractor without a seat belt and a ROPS. Your quite a safty sally.

If you really think you need a roll bar and seat beat! Why are you even on a mower.

If you look at "One man cordwood operation" on RUclips you'll see mine in action. It has a full size front end loader on it and a 3pt hitch hydraulic splitter. I've had it since it was new and It is in excellent condition. I'm ready to sell. Offers???

Nice video. I have a smaller Bolens and absolutely love it. It's a G152, but it's so capable. There is a video on my channel if anyone is interested in seeing it in operation.

I enjoyed your video. I have the exact tractor. It needs some work and I would like to know what weight oil should be used for the injection pump. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

THE SECRET TO SHOWING FOLK THE ACTUAL " SIZE " OF THE TRACTOR .. .. IS TO HAVE A PERSON WALK OVER AND STAND BESIDE THE TRACTOR . JUST A LITTLE SECRET .

I knew some brothers that had one of these they used in the crosstie wall business for years and it was bulletproof. Looks like a Sato. Tough and enough gears to do anything....within reason!

Don't underestimate the value of that Woods mower. I had to replace the pulleys on mine which was matched to a 1980 G174. Then it worked quite well, though it was eating drive belts due to corroded pulleys. Princess Auto had them at moderate cost. The two eyelet things holding a chain on the top link of the three point hitch are one the wrong end of the top link. On the other end, chains from the lower corners of the mower adjust to them to maintain cut height when mowing. Mow in the second of the three PTO gears.
I've had the 1980 G174 for about fifteen years so far. I love the two cylinder Mitsubishi engine's rhythm. A three cylinder, 21 hp Kubota hydro is less pleasant to listen to, though it does most of the work now.

One day while in a hurry I hooked my G174 to a wide tandem trailer and dashed around a sloping area of the lawn. One of the downhill axles on the trailer caught on an elm stump and the tractor and I rolled down the hill at a jolly rate. I got ahead of it as I slid down the grass. It ended up sort of 3/4 of the way over, placidly idling. I scrambled back up the knoll and shut it off. The trailer hitch had come undone when the tractor went over. My wife pulled the tractor back upright with the Kubota and a logging chain around the axle. I coasted to the bottom of the knoll and tried to start the engine. Hydro lock. More towing, up to the garage, but fortunately not inside. Out came the glow plugs. One was oily. I "wisely" put a rag over the holes before I turned the engine over. A fountain of oil burst out of that cylinder and utterly covered the tractor and my new Tilley hat. The glow plugs went back in, it fired right up, and the thing was amazingly undamaged after its adventure. Even the hood wasn't bent.
The lesson: don't tow things wider than the tractor if you don't want physics playing nasty tricks on you if you run into an obstacle.
BTW: Chains around the PTO shaft are very dangerous if they aren't exactly where they are supposed to be. In retrospect I would worry far more about that rusty chain on the back of your tractor than getting a ROPS and seat belt.

Well, I can't believe somebody else just bought the same tractor :-) I paid 2900 dollars for it. I got to your Craig, a mower, and a grader blade with it, as well as a 3. Pintle hitch adapter. The tractor is a 1983, and when I bought it it only had 350 hours on it. I have already put over a hundred dollars on it. Poor little tractor, it is extremely powerful, and I attribute that to be very diverse gearing. What are you using the tractor for?
