Nice 3 parter, Martin - very informative. Made me really chuckle at the end and reminded me of my own teenage son - he loves getting my tools out to use but somehow always forgets to put them back!?.
Hi I have only just found you Chanel so im working through the videos. Great job you and the lad did with this bike, bit of a harsh lesson the engine going pop but its all a learning curve. Keep em coming Martin im really enjoying them and learning things along the way. Thanks.
I don't know either tbh, all I know is that, the spark plug wasn't sitting in the hole. It kept spinning, and a friend of mine said that he should have to the head off, took the thread out and put a new thread, but the guy drilled it out and put a new thread. The plug is staying in now.. But bits went in. But to be honest, I've done 30000 miles on it and the head gasket is leaking too, so my just get new bits and rebuild it. Thanks and yh great videos keep me coming :)
It's impossible to change the water pump without splitting the engine. You need the engine out, head off and engine split at the crankshaft to access the water pump. It's a size 8mm socket that's fitted with a reverse thread. (So tightening is loosening) but before you can take it off you need the transmission cover off and front pully (variator) out to access the oil pump and its gear and belt that feeds onto the crankshafts arm before you even split the engine. Once you've removed the reverse threaded screw, pop off the propeller and bang the axle out from the side where the engine splits from, and for fitting it the axle would be fitted from the transmission side and evenly banged or pressed in with its seal and finally the propeller can go back on and engine sealed and rebuilt again. Good luck I wouldn't advise you do it yourself if you don't want an engine leak.
Great video :) gonna try rebuild my vx 125 4stroke engine, I've never done it before, but am learning from watching all this videos, the mechanic drilled the thread out where the spark plug goes into cos it was shredded so he can put a new thread on the head and bits went into the head and possibly into the back, now there is no compression he said and bits could have damaged the back. What do I reckon?
You would have to take the barrel off to check the rings and the bore. It's a simple job to remove the head so I wonder why the head was drilled on the bike? Good luck
Fairplay that was interesting. Had me hooked and a few clips around the head from the otherhalf for not paying any attention to her for 30 or so minutes lol. Im afraid to say the younger generation just have no respect a thanks would have been nice ayy haha!
Hi mate do you know any tips on how to put in a new silent bloc on a gilera runner 125cc, 180cc i have the old one out just put in new rubber mounts but the silent bloc does seem like a job, the engines still in the bike as well
retrorestore Ok, you know on the gilera frame there is a silent bloc i cant seem to get it in because its to tight to push in is there a way of doing it

Its a shame that you didn't film the waterpump change man

Can you also replace it without taking the whole engine apart
andy viveen
Yes, I think youu have to leave the old impellor in place though.
