    Great, educational vid, Martin. Took me back to when I was 16 (many, many years ago) when i used to have my Yam Fizzy in bits - most weekends!. I bet you saved a fortune repairing it yourself at home. Cheers.

      Yes, Just like me, I had a FS1E-DX back in 1980 and all the RD range as well Love those bikes and enjoyed working on them and generally having fun. I don't think the same fun exists nowadays due to laws and speed traps.
      Cheers

    i see these methods a lot but why freeze the bearings?just heat up the case around 100 celsius and the bearing fit easy.same way goes with the crankshaft.

    u can get good tuning/ uprated stuff for same price as standard! u can get a 13bhp cylinder kit for less than £100 and a good crank for £75!

      The trouble with tuning these mopeds is you have to thrash the crap out of them as all the power is at the top end so they are no good for traffic. We didn't want that. This one does 55mph which is enough.

    • @1100HondaCB
      @1100HondaCB 8 лет назад

      I had a TZR125 that I tuned but the powerband was ridiculously narrow (8000rpm-10000rpm). I reverted back to the standard setup after rebuilding the engine with a 2mm rebore and it pulled really well low down and still did 70mph easily.

      Yes I used to enjoy tuning my fs1e back in the day and my aircooled RD.

  • @fredmorris2972

    You didn't gasget the engine when put back together

    • @retrorestore
      @retrorestore  9 лет назад +1

      Yes I did, look carefully, it's clear sealant.

  • @spiderrootacpiratespotmaromba
    @spiderrootacpiratespotmaromba 8 лет назад

    at 12:22 you forgot to put sealer in the casing engine to seal the two parts together.

    • @retrorestore
      @retrorestore  8 лет назад +1

      +spiderroot +spiderroot No I didn't, If you look closely, you will see the clear
      silicone sealer hanging over the edges of the case around the right side
      dowel . BTW, The bike is still running great apparently.
      Cheers

    • @1100HondaCB
      @1100HondaCB 8 лет назад

      It does because I use clear sealer.

  • @malcolmchapple1953
    @malcolmchapple1953 8 лет назад

    No need to heat cases up to get bearing out just tap them out and you did not put any sealant between cases

    • @retrorestore
      @retrorestore  8 лет назад +1

      Yes I did, this has been answered before. It's a clear silicone sealant, if you look carefully, you'll see it.

    • @jenny-masterchef
      @jenny-masterchef 6 лет назад

      better heat up a bit cuz if u just slam out the bearing u can damage the case too.

    Your ovs not that good at building bikes u forgot to put gasket sealant

    • @retrorestore
      @retrorestore  10 лет назад +2

      We used a clear silicone gasket sealant, if you look closely to the smaller casing before we put it together you can just see the sealant.

      I agree ,your not good at building bike engines ,you also fitted the circlips in the wrong angle in the piston
