Dear Jeff, Blessings to you and everything you do for these young people! I was in the Tiger Band from 1969 - 1973 ( Jimmy Schmidt /Ralph Hyatt, Directors). We marched 128 in those days implementing a military approach. The culture of those days within the area was white-middle class with the students encompassing much intrinsic motivation. In watching this presentation I can literally see the agony that you are faced with to get these minority-impoverished students to excel to this level; my heart goes out to you. I did go on to become a Texas band director who taught for 32 years before retiring so therefore understand your struggles. May you continue to be fruitful in your career and may you make a difference in the lives of many youth.
