- "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator Larry David tells a story about the time Yankees owner George Steinbrenner filmed a scene for "Seinfeld" that didn't make the cut. Let's just say The Boss was a much better owner than actor.
*”Jerry it’s Frank Costanza, Mr. Steinbrenner’s here, George is dead, call me back!”*
What in the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?!?!?
Easily one of the best lines of all time.
@@thezdbailey My baseball people kept saying Ken Phelps, Ken Phelps.
"Big Stein wants a eggplant calzone, he must have one"
The vigorous way he said George is dead always kills me xDD
My favorite scene with Steinbrenner is when he goes to visit George's parents to tell them George is dead. ALWAYS hilarious.
What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for? He had 30 home runs, over 100 RBI’s last year, a rocket for an arm. You don’t know what the hell you’re doing! 😂😂
My people told me Ken Phelps 🤣🤣🤣
LOL yes.
@@toms3080 lol so good
Jerry, it's Frank Costanza. Mr. Steinbrenner is here. George is dead. Call me back.
Nothing beats “Hire this man!”
Calzones from Paisanos!
I’m too important to this team, Big Stein can’t be floppin and twitchin
Except Geoge's "and with all due respect,..."
Nah, nothing beats "My mind is blown, George! BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!"
Funniest line was when he was wearing Lou Gerig's pants and thought he might catch a disease.
"I gotta get these pants off. Big Stein can't be floppin' and twitchin'!!
Ya ever think what a coincidence it is, that Lou Gehrig died of Lou Gehrig's disease?
"im very nervous!"
brilliant lol
😂😂😂😂
1:15 We FINALLY have footage of Larry doing Steinbrenner 🤣
I believe LD missed a once in a lifetime opportunity to say to Steinbrenner, YOU'RE FIRED!
Coconut water kefir
I imagine playing Trump would be very similar to playing Steinbrenner.
Some empty calories and male curiosity aye Georgi boy.
this is the episode that made me look up videos about the boss and I don't understand I just saw that scene and this is too comment omfg
Hahaha....i have that voice and scene in my head!!
QUICK UNDER THE DESK
He asks a question and lets his guest tell the story. Its so refreshing.
I am just blown away, Larry. BBBBLLLLOOOOWWWWNNN AWAY.
BIG STEIN CAN'T BE FLOPPING AND TWITCHING
The scene at Yankee stadium was rough, but the scene of Steinbrenner and Elaine in the restaurant was gold, I wish he kept it in.
My favorite Steinbrenner bit in Seinfeld was when he was trying to sing Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar.
There's just too many but this really was a highlight for sure
Run this city like a man!
Brubaker run this prison like a man 😂
Larry David is the best comedy writer ever, period!!
Larry David is a comedic GENIUS. Probably the GOAT, a tiny tiny notch above Mr. Seinfeld
Those scenes were the best. I was watching this and shaking my head saying under my breath "so stupid, so, so stupid". Then i said "Funny stupid"!!! out loud. 😁🤣🤣
Thank God he was cut. The obvious dubbing followed by almost never showing his face makes the character so much better. Plus hearing Larry yell 'Big Stein wants an eggplant calzone must have one!!!' is the reason im still alive
Haha that was a great line!
now i got to see this. that clip's gotta be out there SOMEWHERE! internet don't f with me!!
found it. he wasn't bad.
The Billy Martin speech is definitely another classic Big Stein moment
"buck showalter, hut hut, you didn't hear that from me!! George!?!?!" Hilarious!
Yes, Billy Martin is always memorable. Just watched that episode a half hour ago.
I loved ( from the bomb threat episode, I think ): "heartbreaker, love taker, Brubaker, run this prison like a man."
everytime i hear that song i think about that lol...
"shoemaker, won't you shine my shoes for free"
I believe George Steinbrenner said he didn’t mind his scene being cut because he didn’t like the part in the episode where they killed off Susan.
Those were two totally different seasons
My fav scene was when he thought George had died 😂
The best was when Steinbrenner was negotiating with a chicken producer in Arkansas for the ownership rights to Costanza
I'm watching that episode right now.
"Instead of hotdogs; chicken dogs! Instead of pretzels; chicken twists! Instead of beer; alcohol chicken!"
@@DeadPixel1105 Well, don't tell it to me George, tell it to the new
Assistant to the General Manager.
Big Stein wants a little taste
😂😂😂HILARIOUS
Larry David's Steinbrenner is an almost perfect Bernie Sanders impression! 😂
"The pita pocket, George. The pita pocket!"
Steinbrenner did a fantastic job. The scene itself just didn't work, but the scene with Steinbrenner talking to Elaine in George's office was great.
He was pretty poor tbh.
Where is the scene ? I've never seen it
BRUUUHHHH IM LITERALLY WATCHING THE CALZONE EPISODE RIGHT NOW WHAAAAAAAAAASA
Love the show wish it would come back
Actually Steinbrenner wasn’t bad at all, especially for not being a professional actor. The problem is the actual guy didn’t mesh with the cartoonish caricature of him that had already been portrayed
I wonder if that's where he got the line "I heard what you did in the parking lot big boy" in the episode where George tries to get himself fired. Most great Seinfeld moments came from real life experiences after all.
Lol Larry David was actually a character on the show too. He was Frank’s Lawyer. And a street vender who said “Sorry, we don’t except bills with big pink lips on the president”.
"Is anyone here a marine-biologist?"
He ordered the kosher meal and forgot!
And the guy who screams " I'd rather have a bottle of scotch!" in The Pen episode, and also the guys fighing the fishermen for greenpeace! XDD
FLAMING GLOBES
He wore a badass cape
He's also in the scene where Kramer gets arrested for murder in LA. He's just standing innocuously in the crowd
I don’t know what he’s thinking? George was great in his 2 scenes. Hilarious.
I was today years old when I found out that Larry David was Steinbrenner on Seinfeld.
You really need to see somebody from a different walk of life trying to act to realize just how good most actual actors are. Having said that, I never thought Larry's version of Steinbrenner was particularly funny or interesting. Larry David is best as himself-ish.
When i hear Larry i hear Steinbrenner talking to George while he is leaving the room.
They should have showed George Steinbrenner from behind sitting at his desk in his office waving his arms and Larry David doing his voice. When he gets out of his chair it would reveal that it's the real George Steinbrenner.
"Empty calories and male curiosity, eh, Georgie?"
I am blown! Bloooown away! Blown George! BlooOooOOOooooowowowowoooon!
Larry should have called him and said “it’s not you, it’s me”
The best was him trying to remember that Heart song and screwing up the lyrics. Hahahahaahah
“He was humming this song yesterday. I can't seem to get it out of my head. I've got to know the name of that. ‘She's a heartbreaker. A love-taker Brubaker run this prison like a man Ooh Ooh’ Something like that. Very catchy tune. Very, very catchy. Well, you know what? I'm gonna sit here and wait for that guy. What is this, People? ‘The Most Beautiful People’ People. Connie Sellecca. Nothing wrong that, huh?”
Pat Benetar actually, and yes, that was awesome.
@@TommyRibs Damn it was! Hahahahaha
Cotton uniforms, Larry! How COULD you forget??? LOL!
You're a heartbreaker
Dream maker, love taker
Don't you mess around with me
... "Brubaker run this prison like a man uh uh."
I saw the cut on youtube it really was pretty funny. Especially when they changed seats and Elaine acted like Steinbrenner. I thought it was great.
You wanted to see me Mr. Steinbrenner?
Two words for you George:
HOT TUB
I love this guy! Larry, my hero!
There was a George scene with Elaine and Steinbrenner, also A scene with her and him at the restaurant. I’ve seen it and thought he didn’t do that bad of a job! I would’ve kept it.
Larry David is a National treasure.
International*
'Big Stein wants a taste, atta boy!' - calzone scene
Costanza's in the building! Constanza is in the building!!!!!!
Every 30 seconds there was gold on Seinfeld. Some nuggets were small - some were big
Funny, I just came here from watching the Calzone scene!
I got two words for you Georgie Boy.... Hot Tub!
Why did you trade Jay Buhner?
Watching Calzone episode right now and searched LD doing Steinbrenner as it’s rare gold to find this
"And bring me back some of those cigars in the cedar boxes, you know the ones with the fancy rings? I love those fancy rings. They kind of distract you while you're smoking. The red and yellow are nice. It looks good against the brown of the cigar. The Maduro, I like the Maduro wrapper. The darker the better, that's what I say. Of course, the Claro's good too. That's more of a pale brown, almost like a milky coffee. I find the ring size very confusing. They have it in centimeters which I don't really understand that well..."
Larry also yelled out, Is anyone here a marine biologist? The episode where George saves the whale to impress Diane Decaan.
Not sure of the spelling of her last name.
I have just watched the deleted scene, Mr S was a good sport but he didn't have the punch, the spunk that Larry David bought to the character.
"The Calzone" epi was epic! Must viewing
“Calzone? OK, hand it over….big Stein wants a taste!”
“Larry, why did you cut Steinbrenner?” “Well, as it turns out, I do a better Steinbrenner than Steinbrenner.”
"BIG STEIN WANTS AN EGGPLANT CALZONE AND HE MUST HAVE ONE, EVERYBODY OUT!"
'a little jealous...' 😂😂
After that scene I tried an eggplant calzone - now I know why Big Stein was a little jealous.
I looked up this because i just watched the calzone episode
"We will not have chaos, not on the New York Yankees."
Sometimes, you have to make tough decisions and fire people. Billy Martin. Bob Lemon. Billy Martin. Stump Merill. Billy Martin. Dallas Green. Buck Showalter... Hey, wait! You didn't hear that from me.
So I called yankee stadium and I said, is George Steinbrenner there?LoL
Just Larry being Larry.
Larry's not much to look at it but he has the charisma and vibe that could land him any girl!
So Larry was better Steinbrenner than real Steinbrenner, Jason Alexander was better Larry (George) than Larry (real George) and Michael Richards was better Kramer than real Kramer.
That's gold 😂😂
And ..... That's all he said really
"Heartbreaker...love taker..."
It got stuck in my 🧠.
“COSTANZA’S IN THE BUILDING!”
"Eggplant, huh? That's a hell of a thing."
When was Steinbrenner ever in a scene with Elaine?
You can actually see these scenes on the DVD. I didn't think Steinbrenner did that bad.
Big Stein wants an eggplant calzone, he must have one!
Costanza is in the building!!!!
This guy is a legend
George was in that scene
Misleading title
True Legend.
It wasn’t that bad i just saw it it was just Steinbrenner being Steinbrenner.
Its 12:15 wheres my calzone?
Who are you?!
I'm Frank Costanza's lawyer!
Anyone know what kind of shoes Larry is wearing? He always wears those and I have a feeling they're very comfortable for people with wide feet like me
Those shoes look like Airwalks.
@@frank234561 Not quite and they look close to Simple brand shoes but it's not it either
Probably cole Hans
I wish he asked him who came up with Big Stein
If steinbrenner was offended it by it, it would be a curb episode
I saw the George Steinbrenner clips with Elaine and George.
I thought both scenes were as good as anything else shown on "Seinfeld".
The thing is, *just* having him on the show was cool.
ebayerr I agree, they should have left that one scene in as a guest appearance where you actually see Steinbrenner’s face
Nothin' but empty calories and male curiosity, eh, Georgiiiiiiieeee?
He is a fucking Genius 🙌👏👏👏👏👏
I hated those Steinbrenner performances ! They made him look like a goof.
I hear Mr Steinbrener is very particular about his meals.
I always thought Steinbrenner was too much over the top even for Seinfeld. It was just 100% caricature were Elaine,Jerry and George were more fine tuned.
Larry seems either uncomfortable with or tired of discussing showbusiness here.
Larry David is Howie Mandel with a little hair.
I have seen the scene that they are talking about & I don't see what is so bad about it.
larry doing it was awesome..
So... did we ever learn the reason why Larry played Steinbrenner?
Billy Martin, Stump Merill, Billy Martin...
Empty calories and male curiosity.
