Mainly because the way items are. Even removing the obvious RNG ones in Pokeballs and assist trophies still lets you get destroyed by luck, and nobody likes luck in competitions.
@@eddiemate I think just like this they'd make a great fun event running alongside a competitive bracket. Don't have to have entire venues booked exclusively for casual.

Why? because in brood war people thought Terran was bad for a decade. Then Boxer came along and showed those people they were idiots. Competitive people, are kind of idiots. They're inflexible to the point of being brittle. That's why. It is the ONLY reason this didn't happen sooner. ...and the funny thing is, you know what triggered it? Amiibo tournaments. Robots were willing to play stages and items states that pro players weren't. And people watched those tournaments because they were interesting. If that hadn't happened we probably wouldn't have this tournament.
I love the casual tournaments. So fun and surprisingly hype. Congrats Nairo!

I honestly think that this kind of smash ''casual'' need a different set of skill to be proeficient at than regular competitive smash.Sure the is a lot of bullshit that can happen,but i think that there is a lot of quick thinking that go into that kind of play (like for exemple,witch item do you prioritise over other one or if you better just go for the attack and forgetthe item).I honestly think that be great to have a competitive ''casual'' smash tournament and stuff.
